Since images have already been posted, i'll skip that. Impressions:

1) The thing is very light, supposedly a bit heavier than the regular mini but I don't see much an difference from extended use. Still that beautiful, thin and light design that works so well in one hand and is a pleasure to thumb type on.

2) The screen...THE SCREEN. Stunning, absolutely stunning. It's got the same PPI as my iPhone but on that 7.9" screen it's absolutely astounding. Holding the device at half or full arms length, the difference between it and the regular iPad retina screen isn't noticeable. But when you've got them up closer to your face you can definitely notice the extra sharpness with the mini.

3) Best fucking iPad ever. Love it to bits.

My old Messages aren't showing up, just old ones...

It's my first iPad - is there some issue from restoring with an iPhone iCloud backup?

? iPhone and iPad have their own unique backups. If you've never had an iPad before, I don't think you would have a backup to restore.

But it will still use your Apple ID, so your contacts/calendar information should would be available, and your app purchase history will be in the App Store in case you've purchased any universal apps in the past.

You can restore from an iphone backup actually.

I can't open new tabs in Safari either. It quits the app immediately.

WHYY is my shiny new toy giving me so many problems?

Have you restarted? If it's any consolation, it sometimes takes a little while for stuff like Safari cloud tabs and photo stream to completely sync and show up.

I own hundreds of apps and I really don't like switching them out to make room for new ones. I like everything with me all the time.
My digital comic book collection isn't small either. Personally I prefer reading them on the Mini during marathon sessions.

I live and work in NYC so I'm barely home. The iPad and Nvidia Shield are my two MVPs for entertainment nowadays.

Good points. I actually have had 64GB for 4 generations but downgraded because I learned to just store what I use all the time. 128GB is tempting though. If I was already getting 64GB what's another $100 for double the storage right?

I would like to store a lot of my iTunes music on my iPad and not have rely on spotify and it using up data

iBooks and Pinball Arcade are impressing me the most thus far. Quite a step up from my old iPad 1, which I still like and will continue to use, but feels like a clunky, cold laptop now next to the Mini-R.

its quite good. glad i got this with my ps4 money lol.

resolution wars, ipad mini wins!

Even non native retina apps look quite good.

it doesn't look that much better than ipad 3-4-air screen at normal viewing distances.

Neat that the ipad mini retina comes with the big power brick.

1st gen mini comes with only the small phone brick.

I can't think of one iPad app that doesn't have retina resolution

Expected arrival, Monday 18th. From China? lol. I even ordered within an hour or 2 of when sales opened.

They definitely have a limited supply if they are shipping straight from China.

Oh shit. Managed to reserve an LTE model for pick up today. Won't actually be able to decide whether to trade my Air until I step into the Apple Store.

Mine is coming Tuesday, and I had my order in less than 5 minutes after it went live. Guess I should move closer to Shenzhen.

I SOOOOOO wish I could get one of these but after recently buying a car and a new MacBook Pro, I'm pretty broke. Oh well, I still love and use the shit out of my original iPad Mini.

I kinda wish I was into comics because I bet they look great. Any recommended comic apps for their aesthetic beauty that would quickly impress?

Anyone with the Nexus 7 2013 model and can give a comparison?

I have one. What do ya what to know? Dimension wise they are actually quite similar in size because 7 has big bezels while mini has small ones. Screens are both great and both look stellar at normal viewing distances. Nexus is definitely better value proposition for sure, but for iOS, I would argue that a retina ipad mini is the best iOS device to get.

Just got an email saying it will arrive on the 19th. I went with space gray, but am starting to wish I chose the silver one. It's a gift though, so if I get one for myself I'll pick the silver.

No shipping info for me yet, I ordered the Verizon 4G 16GB black model. Hope it's sooner than Dec 1. I did the $10 extra for 2-3 day shipping.

I think this was covered before, but if I bought an iPad Mini Retina from the Apple online store, can I return it (unopened) to a local Apple Store... or does it have to be shipped back to Apple? I bought it as a gift just to make sure I have one, but if I find a deal between now and Christmas that saves me some money I'll probably just return this one to Apple.

Ordered yesterday around 2 PM Central and got my shipping notification overnight. Expected delivery from China to here in Illinois is Tuesday, so around 1 week from order to projected arrival date.

If all you care about is surfing the web and watching an occasional movie is it worth it?
