I think we can all agree that Bumi was the highlight of the night

Bumi the spirit tamer.

I had some legit complaints:

-Bolin being dumb (but also sexy - Stupid Sexy Bolin)

-Lin et al being REALLY dumb. Talk about character assassination :/

-I like Varrick but the conclusion of his plotline wasn't really satisfying IMO

-Mako being awful again

-Asami basically told to get back in the kitchen and dumped on some more. Has she done anything of note this entire season?

-"Dark Avatar": How does someone let those words come out of their own mouth and still think they are doing good (or has Unalaq given up all pretense that he's doing good?)

Overall though I enjoyed myself. Great action, Bumi was sweet, Bolin actually got to do things. These were good if flawed episodes :)

OK So impressions:

-Nice to see Katara again. Thought they'd come back to the south to find that she had passed on. Dunno why - just seemed like when they said goodbye to her earlier in the season, it seemed kind of final.

-Completely forgot Tonrack was busted free - haven't seen him in a while. The battle between him and Unalaq was great. Also great to see the dark spirits roaming free in the south.

-Nuktuk scenes ran long again but had some funny moments. Like lazer beam eyes.

-Bolin pro bending fight was great because there were no rules and we got to see some creative bending. When the announcer started his commentary I lost it. So clever.

-Bolin Asami scene was nice, and I'm glad he mentioned that the team has been doing their own thing all season. Also glad he has sort of started to realize he is kind of... dumb. Hope we continue to see him do cool stuff.

-The president kind of sucks but I see where he is coming from with keeping his military close to home. But had he helped, maybe Vatu would have been kept imprisoned.

-Varrick is awesome, even in defeat. That whole jail cell thing was great. But the payoff for that whole plotline was a little weak. Varrick gets busted but he is still basically on the good guy side and nothing really happens besides him being put in jail (Which was hilarious by the way)

-Lin disappointed me this season. Actually, everyone who did not listen to mako did. Was what he was saying really that unbelievable? Why wouldn't they look into it? Those cops weren't corrupt, just incompetent, but that reflects poorly on Lin.

-Dark Avatar name dropped - was not expecting that. Props to the people who predicted that. With that said, if it happens Unalaq should not be able to bend all 4 elements.

-Asami continues to get shat on and shipping rears its ugly head once more. Hoping for a confrontation in the final episode where Asami calls him out on the bullshit. Bolin's face when he mentioned the blood sucking leach line was incredible.

-Nice to see Naga and Pabu do something - that shot of them left behind really encapsulated the fact that Naga is not as well developed as Appa was.

-That entire plane sequence was fucking fantastic. Stunning animation.

-The Bumi sequence was hilarious and also excellently animated. Also suggests that all his stories are true, which is just perfect.

-Korra couldn't close the portal because it was too close to the convergence - hence why it was taking so long in the first place. Not her fault.

-Earlier someone said that Asami was basically the group's driver. Valid complaint, though she did a damn good job piloting that plane - thats a pretty big role. But I want to see here fight!

Overall both excellent episodes. A few issues, like Lin, overly long Nuktuk, shipping (depending on where they take it), but I liked it a lot. Writing, and pacing, were both fine.

Anyone know when/where I can see eps 11 and 12?

I want to watch the finale, but I missed the two episodes tonight, are they going to rerun or anything?

Episodes 11 and 12 will be on Nick.com's site the same time the season finale goes up. So watch all 4 back to back.

Nick are dumping the finale episodes tonight. It will still premiere on television next week but you will be able to see it tonight.

I'm not sure its dumping. They did a big tumblr campaign about it. I think they just realized the online stuff was doing very well and this was a publicity stunt.

While the whole Lin thing did bug me a bit, thinking about it, I realized that she really didn't have much presence this season at all. She was the only major character from the last season to not have her own storyline going on (which probably would've further convoluted everything they've already tried to fit in).

Book 3 is already confirmed to be about Lin and her family. That may be the reason why she was relegated to a background role this season.

Really? Than dumping is probably not the best word to use. I can see why the online stuff gets them better viewers. One thing I don't understand is how little Korra seems to be advertised on nick this season, or have I been missing all except for the one that played for the finale. It seems to get more promotion on the internet through their tumbler and nick.com. Its not surprising to me that they don't get many network viewers.

So while waiting for the finale to stream, I read The Search Part 3 since I'm in a Korra-y mood tonight. It's ... honestly not bad on its own merits, but as a follow-up to ATLA its incredibly frustrating to me. The story and characters are still a big step down from the show, and the handling of Ursa's character and the retcons its forced upon Zuko and Ozai's story are ridiculous both in scope and in the medium of their delivery. If this was really what they had in mind for Zuko's mom's fate back in 2008, I wish they would have just left it a mystery.

I'm not sure I'd call it a big campaign. The main Korra Tumblr page posted a video message from Janet Varney (Korra's VA) asking for 10,000 reblogs in return for streaming the episodes at midnight. Then it was reblogged by Mike and Bryan on their tumblrs too. This is all happened at about 9:30 this morning, and it's about it. They got well over 10,000 reblogs, but there have been a ton of people even in this thread who had no idea about the streaming episodes tonight.

I wonder if them dumping the finale online tonight is some nick exec trying to kill the ratings...

They already paid for the rest of the seasons. I think it's more likely they just want to get the show off the air so that another show can fill its spot and get more money for ads. However, Korra still makes them a ton of money on Merchandise and digital sales of each episode.

EDIT: What i meant by off the air, I just meant for this season. They can probably make more money from ads with another show. Korra makes up with making money in other areas.

Lin officially goes in the trash.

She wasn't bluffing faking or double-blinding.

She really did ignore her people bringing actual evidence, and arrested those same people off the word of criminals.

Mako officially goes back to being a dickhead.

He made a complete recovery and fucking relapsed worse than ever.

Somebody catch me up. There are 2 episodes playing tonight, then 2 more on nick.com at midnight?

Episodes 11 & 12 have already aired tonight then at midnight episodes 13 & 14 the season finale will be put up on the nick site at midnight in around 30 minutes a week early

This was actually my biggest complaint about this pair of episodes in a weird sort of way.

One thing that always impressed me about ATLA was the way that it NEVER reduced Katara to being just a healer. She was possibly one of the most powerful warriors in the world by the end of the series and a hero in her own right.

If someone only watched Korra they'd think she was just a healer, and that's really really sad.

I just caught up with the episodes. Two things:

1. The fighting in both episodes was excellent.
2. I burst out laughing when Unalaq actually said "Dark Avatar."

HEY! So I just got home and I haven't looked at the thread in fear of spoilers. Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PM ME the link to Night of a Thousand Stars and Harmonic Convergence!? I can only find the finale on Nick and not the penultimate two episodes I stated.

If it's not anywhere yet, please PM me, as I won't be checking back this thread! PLEASE HELP ME. YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE.
