Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

I just bought Killzone Mercenary, it's really very good. I like it a lot. Graphics are slick, the controls are good, some nice level design. Haven't played multiplayer yet, only on mission 3 of the campaign.

The patch is 1.2gb or something huge like that, currently I don't have the free space on my memory card. I plan to get a 32gb card at some stage, but I was wondering if the patch had any effect on single-player at all or was it just maps for multiplayer and balance changes and stuff. Also, why is it so huge?

My guess is they ran out of space on the game card so they put most of the multiplayer-only assets in that patch.

We haven't seen any retail games larger than 4GB so far so chances are it's the current "hard limit" capacity for the game cards.

No. I've played Abyss, Tempest & Xillia. Currently doing a run through of Rebirth and Graces F, but those will be put on hiatus once I get Lightning Returns this week.

Might be getting Symphonia though
 
Between Persona 4 Golden and Uncharted, I've not even really touched other games I've bought. Some games like Assassin's Creed literally haven't even been put into the Vita yet.

I figure I'll probably sell them and put the money towards PS4 games because P4G will take a LONG time to finish, and PS+ keeps on giving.

PSNova was announced way too recently and is way too Sega to be one of Shahid's localizations

I have the Nyko power grip. It doubles the battery life and makes the Vita super comfortable. Its on Amazon for more than its RRSP new but its so worth it. A great piece of hardware.

I guess I'm going to import a 64 GB from playasia for $115+ :/. No space.

Not going to lie, it is going to be a damn chore. Not much advice to give other than abuse the centipede bosses and ice demon encounters to level up early and get yourself a good equipment from one of the shops early on.

Whenever you face a random encounter always either try and group them up and finish them with a quick full screen sword slash + ninja arts combo. If you're facing the ninjas on the rooftops or the cliffs always fight them one on one and make the Kite ninjas and the ghost demons with the guns your first priority when you encounter them. If you're not sure you are going to be able to dodge an attack just start cycling through your swords to give you some pause for a bit and make a split second decision, you can keep doing this until you're comfortable with you're next option.

Bosses are actually pretty easy to kill, just mash combos and tap the ninja arts button whenever they attack, sometimes you'll want to switch swords with weaker attack power but that has a more elaborate or longer lasting Ninja art attack power to help you out, and always have a fresh supply of stones when going into a boss battle.
 
maybe i should play Trails in the Sky before chapter 2 / ffx hd drops.... kind of in the mood for a jrpg and everyone always talks about it.

wish i copped it on sale doe
 
About the FFX HD announcement on the PS Blog yesterday, I just noticed (was mentioned a few pages back I think) that the vast majority of the comments are about the Vita version.

Well, perhaps this is old but Sakura Minamida, the Senior Product Manager of Square Enix and author of the post replied to a lot of comments regarding the Vita version of the games, mainly confirming it is coming and most interestingly, saying that further details will be available very soon.

The Vita version is coming to North America as previously announced and as shown on the trailer. Unfortunately the details aren’t available at this very moment. Please be patient – we will have some information on this soon!

It's not the first time that SE releases new info on the PS blog that completely fails to mention Vita, but later responds to comments saying "no we didn't forget about Vita, it's still coming"
 
Has anyone who has pre-ordered Tearaway on PSN been able to download it? It says it's available to pre load but I keep getting an error about insufficient funds, even though I have more than £20 on my account.

Meh, maybe i was not in the right mood but i tried the demo and i found it so boring that i started avoiding enemies(in a demo!), graphics are really clean and colorful but at psp level, and frankly i can't stand games with a totally idiot pandering premise like this or the one in extetra, too bad because the idea of creating soldiers mixing the dna of different character is good and the battle system has some interesting ideas...

Too bad that this comment is not good for europeans:

If you look at the european trailers there is no mention of vita.

I've already said that, but Tales of Vesperia on the go will be perfection for me. 300+ hours spent in that game and 3 or 4 playthroughs before selling my 360. My favorite JRPG in the 7th gen.

I'm worried that they are saying "The Vita version is going to be released" but they don't say a single word about a retail version. And, in this case, no retail no buy. We are talking about Square Enix and a (relatively) mainstream franchise, not about Atelier.

I won't buy it either in PS3 if there isn't a Vita retail version. I'll replay FFX / -2 with PCSX2, since I already have both.

At this point, I'm starting to think SE didn't want to release FFX on the Vita at all. I think they where just "forced" by Sony.

And I'm disappointed as hell that the West is getting it around March. February would of been perfect launch date. It would of been month of square enix in the west due to BD, and LR comming out that month. And FFX would of been the icing on the cake.

Anyway, I'm impatient to wait for FFX til March at this point. Where are you getting your physical Vita copy?

AmiAmi is sold out fresh.

Are there any videos of the game yet? I really want to see some gameplay in action.... It may not look that bad.
