TR is never gonna recapture that original vibe and all in this day and with CD.

For it to recapture its identity, the game needs to ditch the painted ledges, hell all together difficulty options. The difficulty was in platforming and finding your way; if you can't or don't like this, the game is not for you.
It also needs to tone down this movie like experience a la Uncharted and it needs a cocky bitchy Lara, not a mopey one.

But people wouldn't like these changes and of course it wouldn't sell as much so that classic Lara and TR is bye bye.

We as fans are also to blame. Shadow was the most TR-like game of all 3 modern ones, with much more tombs, underwater levels, all sorts of traps, fewer gunfights. But, no we had to bitch about the story, as if that's what's most important.

On that front I doubt it. The culture over at CD seems like they would be very much against that. Unless we ever see the Tomb Raider franchise under a European or Asian roof, we're probably going to continue getting a watered down version of her. At least physically.
