No, it's not considered acceptable in 'polite society' as it were - but that kind of attitude is definitely embedded in a sizable subculture. Basically, if you survey any reasonably busy pub at the weekend there's a good chance there'll be at least one group of 'lads' talking like that, but plenty of others quietly loathing them at the same time.

They don't, actually. YouTube pulls the trigger quickly on taking down copyright claimed videos, sure, but their appeals process is actually pretty good, albeit slow. I don't have any doubt that Matt's original video will be put back up. It just takes time.

I'm from the UK, and still in sixth form. "Banter" is very prominent there, and from what I've had others tell me about Uni, it is there too. I agree with you that this is not banter, but there are so many in this country that use banter to justify their actions that it is actually sickening.

As a member of the FIFA community, it always perks me up a little bit to see FIFA actually getting anywhere near the top of NeoGAF. As popular a game as it is, it rarely gets much attention here.

But he has no rights to do what he did, he just abused YouTube's systems. There was no copyright to claim. There is no way to look at this situation where KSI is the one in the right, regardless of your feelings towards his behaviour. He is stopping people from making a living by covering up his shameful behaviour and he has no leg to stand on. Take a bloody look at the bigger picture.
As for the BBC, that's kind of the point of the original video. It's not appropriate given his behaviour.

As far as I'm aware KSI hadn't issued a takedown notice for other content, such as the reuploads of the Eurogamer video seen in this thread. Conveniently he decides to start exercising that ability when it's something criticising him, when other videos which are much closer to copyright infringement are left alone. I don't think anyone can mistake this for anything other than an attempt to shut up somebody calling him out on his behaviour.
