List of Atlus games on 7th-gen / 8th-gen, non-handheld consoles:

PS3:
Catherine
Persona 4 Arena (with Arc System Works)
Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold (with Arc System Works)
Persona 5

Wii:
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Trauma Center: New Blood
Trauma Team

Wii U:
Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem (with Intelligent Systems)

360:
Catherine
Persona 4 Arena (with Arc System Works)

Up until this gen, most of their games were on consoles. PS3 has only seen three from the Persona team (counting P5).

To be honest, it looks like the Persona team is going to be supporting the PS3 for a while...I expect a quickly-developed Persona 6 (like Persona 4 was to Persona 3) to also be for PS3 (and PS4 if it's doing well in Japan).

The Persona 2 cast were high school students.

Not the one I played. A Journalist, cop, shady extortionist, and a 24 year old boxer were the more prominent characters in Eternal Punishment.

Those people that grew up are expected to have stopped playing games in Japan.

But have they?

YESSSS YESSS YESSSSSSSSSSS

Are those college campus chairs? PLEASE

I'm sure it'll take place in high school like every previous Persona game except Eternal Punishment. It's a staple of the series.

Nobody in Japan wants a college-themed Persona, it's only American fans who have asked for that...

I highly doubt this. I do expect P6 to be much quicker but they will get their engine up and running on the PS4 (if it isn't already) first thing once they are through with P5.

The way i hope that the game will be, it'll have Adachi either as an MC or at least as a person you can befriend in the game. If anything he would be the ultimate slave to the system. It would also be an ironic counter point that a person would find his spiritual freedom in a physical prison.

It would also feed into the idea of a protagonist that has some sort of arc, instead of being a blank slate, while also retaining some connections to the other games.

Not that i would ever think that they would be so bold, but it certanily would change up the formula quite abit.

Wishful thinking sadly..

Noooooo. Persona 3 Platinum in 2015 for Vita. Believe. :-D

But that's only half of Persona 2, and the plot is still largely centered around the actions of some teenagers. The series has always generally been about high schoolers. Nothing wrong with wanting change tho.

... Go and Google Winter 2014 ...

The astronomical winter (Northern Hemisphere) 2014 begins on
Sunday, December 21
and ends on
Thursday, March 19

which is December 21st, 2014 to March 19th, 2015

so what's your point? or did you not check the calendar and verify what day of the week December 21st was before posting :p

Jesus Christ, the damn teaser said PS3, and yet there's STILL platform speculation/port begging.
Cut it out please, Persona 5 exists for heavens sake.

Not trying to port beg or anything, but is there going to be a 360 version in the West? My PS3 is on the fritz and it definitely won't last till 2014/2015. If there won't be I'm gonna pick up one during the upcoming sales.

You are forgetting that SEGA owns atlus now. They'll spend a year cutting content "westerners don't understand" before releasing it, then they'll whine about bad sales and shut down localisations.

Please find somewhere in that post where anyone asked for a port of this game. I dare you. You crazy people are trying to turn a comment about crap platform selection into a port begging post for no reason other than being Persona lunatics.

Andd what system would you release it on? The next gen systems that will have an install base of maybe 10 million when this game comes out, or the system that will have an install base of over 80 million? Persona will not be a graphical powerhouse regardless of the system. Lastly, stop being an antagonistic douchebag.

Anyone think that the PS4 version announcement will be dropped later on, say at TGS or E3 alongside the first big major trailer? I've got a feeling...and that's a lot of incorrect insiders if a PS4 port doesn't happen.

Choosing the platform that will get them the most sales is a crap platform selection?
lol

I hope this time around the characters act more like Persona 3 characters. Persona 4 characters are pretty great, but I hated how overly corny and kiddy they were.

"Let's go investigate!"
"We're the investigation team."
"Let's meet at our base and talk this over."

Even Yoskue later on said in his social link
"I only started doing this because I finally felt like I was special."
It was just a little too much in the kiddy side. I felt like I was playing detective with a bunch of kids sometimes because of lines like that.

Persona 3 felt a lot more mature, and everyone knew the danger and gear'd for it. Hi-tech computers in the building, everyone is serious (and it's very noticeable), and they don't call themselves anything corny like "the investigation team." The cast still has fun, but they know when it's fun time and time to be serious.

Hopefully this trailer is true and it's more darker theme'd. I still want the cast too be fun, but not Persona 4 fun.

Regardless of release dates, you can be syre that the assets and engine developed for P5 will not just be for P5. We can definitely expect more games using these. Whether that means more SMT/Persona games for PS3, Vita or PS4 (with some modifications) remains to be seen.

I doubt it, but it would be a pleasant surprise. Not something that I would care about if it didn't happen though.

You live in there?

I've lived a few years in japan. I've been in both japanese high school and uni :)
I guess it could be interesting if the setting was something really specific like criminology students hanging out in the library during late evenings or tech students doing research in their uni lab but the chances of that happening are kinda slim considering it would change the Persona formula quite a bit. Unless you want to see your character go out drinking and trying to decide which company to work at after uni I don't think it would add that much(and uni students usually dont go to clubs).

Just my guess but that theme you have listed in the spoiler? My gut says your should probably get used to it because I think it will be a part of this whole ball and chain motif they have going on.

Damn. Winter 2014? Is that for Japan then? That means still an even longer wait for us. >_<

At least it's announced, though. Would've liked to get more information than what was shown in the trailer, though. Wanted to see gameplay and stuff. Anything.

Also, I kind of expected it to be PS3. As much as I'd love them to do it for PS4, it just wouldn't make since for Atlus.

I still to this day have to pick up Persona 3 FES, I played Persona 4 for 60 hours, got towards late Spring of the school year, stopped playing entirely, and then deleted the save so I can restart.

Persona 4 gets a lot of stuff right and it's pretty endearing, but you're right, the cast got really corny at times. From what I heat Persona 3 seems more grounded and less bubbly.

What if they set it in another country, like America or Europe? Sakura Wars proves anime-ish games can be done outside Japan.

I wouldn''t be against that, a japanese interpretation of oxford students solving some bizzare suburbian mystery is right up my alley. Or something set in germany with the feeling of Monster.

The key to Persona for me is the juxtaposition of reality and magic. The normal settings are borderline boring in their mundane realism. The town in P4 looks like someone just went out to some small city, took some photos and directly slapped them on some models as textures. It's refreshing to have some environments that don't feel artistically forced but just feel natural. I personally dislike the direction of AAA games where every environment is created to allow for perfect image composition from every possible viewing angle and stylistically looks like it comes from the same concept art factory as every other game.

In persona I like how the town is dull, unimpressive and effortless, small towns in japan actually look like that, it's not even cozy: the river bank looks kinda barren and the end of the central part is just some big road. It reminds me of being in small towns here in sweden where you find the main shopping street and is like "cool so there is some life to this town after all" then you take a turn and all you see is some shut down shops, a boring looking road and the absence of people.

Then you add the magical component and the world is suddenly the most exciting thing I've spent time in for years.

Persona 10 to be set in Baltimore. When not fighting shadows or one's self, you'll have to combat the streets and everyday life.

Persona 3 was a lot more corny then persona 4.

From what I've seen Persona 3 seems more melodramatic, while Persona 4 feels more corny.
