Persona 5 announced for PS3, winter 2014

Okay this is fucking pleasant. Little back story, I work third shift and was getting off at 6 am. I live only 2 miles from my job but my computer is on the fritz. So I stayed over a few minutes and caught the last 2 minutes of the countdown. I saw the 3ds game announced. Both happy and sad I went and retrieved my wife and I breakfast. I went home, ate and went to sleep. Wishing P5 was announced. I woke up 15 minutes ago, got some fresh air by the lake and walked back into the house and turned on my phone. Went to GAF. Saw what I missed.

Folks its like being 5 on Christmas morning and not realizing you got an amazing gift. My wife and cats are looking at me crazy as I sttomp around the house so damn excited. Thank you Atlus. Thank you.
 
Yes!!! This is a nice announcement to wake up to. I was scrolling through GAF and saw the other 2 announcements and was pretty disappointed...luckily I saw this thread at the bottom!

Winter 2014 though? God damn, that's steep. Good thing I never intended on selling my PS3.

They couldn't go through with it for obvious reasons, but I think the Persona 4 where (again, major P4 spoilers)
Nanako stays dead and the investigation team must grieve over her death while still attempting to get to the bottom of the fog and murders is a little more interesting than how it goes off the rails with Adachi when she comes back. Maybe I have too much faith in the Persona team's ability to deftly handle emotional trauma in stories.

Persona 3 has plenty of heavy stuff happen before Shinji dies. There's the melting people, there's Fuuka being bullied, there's the myriad of social links that involve lying to people to tell them what they want to hear, and there's all the stuff with Yukari's depression about her family/her anger at Mitsuru. Then there's the twist with Mitsuru's dad being murdered, and her hard time dealing with that.

There's tons of lighter stuff of course, like the stupid beach trip and whatnot, but P3 is plenty dark besides
Shinji's death.

Some more P3 spoilers -
I'm not going to really count the s-links because while they do have some heavy stuff they are about the same as P4's links as well so they kind of cancel each other out in the context of this discussion, plus they can mostly be seen at any time in the story which makes it hard to put then canonically anywhere in the story. Melting people - gotta remind me what you mean here, I'm drawing a blank. Fuuka being bullied - While it is true that they started to rub up against a topic that could have had value here it ultimately fell flat IMO. Yukari didn't really come off as much depressed as whiny and again, that is an opinion, but i don't think many would disagree with me. Mitsuru's dad being murdered is a big one but that happens after Shinji's death and my real claim here is that P3's story doesn't really get dark until after that event.
 
Someone mentioned half-way through the thread that Minato had to work for his friends (if they can even be called friends, :lol) while Narukami could barely control his flock of rabid fanboys and fangirls.

I say onto him (or her): Minato just simply don't ha' dat swag, brah.

Narukami is an angel in human clothing. Inaba simply was not worthy or ready for his presence.

For some reason I was expecting them to go all out with the platforms for this (ps4, ps3, xboxs, steam, portables), but I do have a ps3 so yay.

Ah right right, was it ever explained how/why this happened? P3 stuff:
I always forget about it because it never made sense to me. My understanding was if you had the potential then you didn't coffin up during the dark hour and the only real danger during that time was the shadows, some people could summon personas and some couldn't but I don't get why this dude just melted
 
I love that there will now be more Persona games for the systems I already own.

Also, I want to thank them for not integrating the 5 into the title in some sort of horrible way like this: PER5ONA.
 
Is it confirmed that red haired guy is the protag? Everything about him screams party member.

What makes you say that? The chain ball things? That's quite a jump. High school setting is almost guaranteed. Prison setting also leaves the dating sim aspect out so unlikely.

That, and the fact that his character was revealed against a red background, along with a red sky in what I assume is a cutscene. Just like how characters from P3 are often shown against blue/green palettes, while the P4 cast can't get enough of dat yellow.
 
I hope Sony can get its 3rd party "get shit done" team to get this on Ps4.

I do not want to play another persona game on a system with no suspend function. (if thats added to ps4 any time soon)
 
I wish it were coming out sooner, but I suppose it's just something to look forward to! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for some more information.

I see. Well, I wouldn't take the colors too seriously in this case because red is one of main color palettes of P4A2.
 
I wonder if we get to see new upgraded 3D models of all the demons.

If they just gonna take the PS2 models and upscaled them , I'll be very disappointed
