They had an Avengers reference. They mentioned the attack on New York opened several portals and that Thor travels through them as well.

That was probably a reference to
the portals opened during the alignments of the nine realms during Thor 2.

I believe they only mentioned Thor 2, but I could be wrong. If I am wrong, then darn. At least it was more natural this time.

Truthfully, I'm only sticking around to see what the deal is with Coulson. I really don't care about anyone else on the show.

I think it was Poopgate that did him in.

Nah, after that little tiff between him and royalin and me, he stuck around for awhile.

I don't see how anyone can be interested in Skye. She's worse than Laurel on Arrow.

She really is consistently the worst character on the show. She always seems naive in every single thing that she does. I get that she's supposed to be the audience's surrogate in the show, but it could be done so much less annoyingly. See: (most) of the Doctor's companions.

Skye and Fitz are my favorites.

This is categorically false. Laurel does nothing but booze, pill pop, and cry in her current form on Arrow. Skye is actively engaging in missions and is the primary driving force of moral good on the team. You may not find Skye that interesting but she's a hell of a lot more useful than Laurel is and a lot less annoying on screen.

I liked the latest episode, but I'm waiting for reveal of the big bads. Still no chatter about the person in jail that the whacko scientist visited.

seriously, if the may/sky mother daughter angle is how i'm reading it, i actually find it quite interesting. that's what I meant, more or less.not sky in particular, but boobies do help the cause.
Im telling you, give Simmons a scene like that or that Austin seen and the ratings will go back up. Intelligence and sex sells.

Finished this week's recap. Should be up tomorrow morning.

It's gonna be the last one I do. I'm done with this show. Too uneven too often, and the highs aren't high enough to justify keeping it in my weekly rotation.

Not bad, not as good as episodes 6-7, which were still a ways short of being great. I hope the alien dimension briefly shown here is explored further, but thus far the show doesn't really seem interested in that sort of thing.

It would take a lot to get me to quit this show mid-season and I still doubt that'll happen, but the Centipede-centered next couple of episodes really, really ought to shake up the series' structure and pacing.

Dropped this some time ago, but I was kinda curious about the Thor 2 tie-in episode. Is it worth watching for someone who isn't watching the series anymore? Does it have any substantial Marvel Cinematic Universe tie-in? Or is it just pseudo-promotional stuff which is superficial? Does Thor show up? Probably not eh?

No to all your questions except the bolded one. I think I'm done with the show as well until I hear it's gotten better from legit sources.

A shame that this turned out to be a stinker, the Marvel movies this belong to have been mostly good and I like them a lot, but the first episode wasnt all that and it seems it never got better.

I dropped this a few weeks ago, I guess it's never really going to turn into the show that I thought it would be, which was SHIELD taking on D-list Marvel villains.

Considering he wrote this week's episode and it's getting lambasted, I'm not sure he can.

Really says something when we're both watching KnK and drop this garbage.

Are you knocking Beyond the Boundary? I love that show. Great visuals, interesting setting, funny dialogue, and exciting battles. The only thing wrong with it is the lack of action and plot episodes. AoS wishes it could be half as good as that.

Well the writing is about on par with AoS, but it benefits from being only half as long each week, and with twice the excitement. Lolz.

Yeah, unfortunately it's more of a silo'd off SHIELD than I would've liked. Despite it being Coulson, it's a small isolated team. Not what I envisioned SHIELD as (although "the hub" episode alleviated that a bit, plus we saw that one lady character from the comics there as well).

Perhaps next season? As it is, it's more of a cop show of sorts fighting science baddies rather than super villains. A bit too modern, lacking that comic boom flare.

Was the other world Tobias kept phasing into actually Hel? As in, with Hela and stuff?

Who knows. Seeing as how its the most interesting thing that happened in the episode it will never be revisited again. I mean they only accidently opened a portal to another world/dimension without Asgardian technology no big deal.

God this show sucks ass. I'm sorry but it does and I've been convincing myself for the weeks prior that it's great just misunderstood. Nah it just sucks ass, complete unfiltered 100% asshole juice. Not shocking that the best episode was the one with fire dude; they really should take a cue from that.

Also Skye is wack as hell. Simmons > Skye come at me.

Oh, that doesn't sound good. It's odd how much this show is struggling given how diverse and expansive the Marvel lore is.

Well that is the problem, they aren't really touching the Marvel lore at all. It's name tossing once and a while about something Marvel related and then sitting around in a plane for 80% of the episode.

I already struggled to tune in last week and from the sound of it I probably don't need to bother with this episode either.

Interest in general seems to hit rock bottom at this point, at least on the little NeoGAF island of the internet, which can't be a good sign. Too bad. :/

The continually dropping ratings seem to indicate that it's not just NeoGAF

Seemed to me that people had some kind of hope after last weeks ratings didn't drop for once. I'm just wondering if the "Thor tie-in that didn't tie-in shit" episode killed the last bits of good will many had for this show for good.

In my mind yes, that's absolutely what happened.

Possibly... but It was typical network overhype. Who hasn't been oversold on a particular episode of a show at one point or another?

Even with the ratings dropping as much as they had, SHIELD is still coming in at number 2 in that day and time slot only losing out to one of the most dominant shows in the past decade, NCIS. I'm not familiar with what ABC has waiting in the wings but I'm not sure anything else could outperform SHIELD in that time slot were they to drop it.

Yep. It takes a lot to get me to give up on a show but I'm almost there with this. I think I'll watch episode ten when it airs in a few weeks and after that I'll just start letting them pile up on the DVR until I'm really bored.

There's too much other better TV on Tuesdays to watch.

I'm just about to give up on this show. The first few episodes were somewhat excusable but we're at nearly the halfway point now and the show just isn't improving. I feel like it's actually been getting worse, these last two episodes were weaker than the ones before.

This should've been a fun spy show like Alias set within the Marvel universe, instead it's just boring.
