Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

All for less than the price of a PS4 alone. Sorry for the crappy shot, phone camera is messed up. :(

Walmart sells a third party Wii U Pro Controller by Pro A called the Wii U Mini Pro Elite controller. Has anybody used this controller? Is it any good? It is cheaper than the official Pro Controller and I am thinking of buying that one for now.

I had a Pro A for PS3. Not bad, ok. Get this when you can find one:

Ordered one from Amazon for $13 because the reviews have been really good. Hopefully them and Walmart will get back in stock soon.

Yep, apparently Amazon's app just screws up everything about the Pro controller, so nothing was working. Had to use the gamepad to shut it down. Otherwise I love the Pro controller. Especially for the Mario games. I need to try it more with Zelda.
That's my point: If you launch an application that does not support a specific controller, that controller will not become active, and you cannot shut off the console. It's like trying to shut of Runner 2 with a Pro Controller, it just won't work because it never becomes active. I have not used the Amazon application, but I assume it works the same way.

This is kind of related to the thread/Wii-U, but also kind of a question about Amazon itself.

So I ordered the Nyko Wii-U Pro Controller for $12.80 (it was on sale) after it went out of stock. It still let me order it for that price and they said they would ship it when they got more in. But I look on the product page, and Amazon's Price is like $30 now. My order still says it's $13, though. I'll get charged $13 and not $30, right since that's how much it was when I ordered?

Also, do you know if I preorder say Mario Kart 8 now with my Prime trial (free 2 day shipping), but then cancel Prime before the trial is up... will Mario Kart 8 still be shipped with free 2 day shipping when it released or will it default back to the 5-7 day shipping that's free usually?

Sorry, I know very weird questions. xD
You should only pay the $13.

And you'll keep the 2 day shipping even if your Prime membership expires. Just make sure that it's active when you actually preorder the game.

The selection of demos on the eShop is dreadful. One year and there's like 8 demos...really? You guys weren't kidding about the Wonderful 101 demo.

Cool, thanks. I might as well pre-order some of the games I know I'm gonna buy as soon as they release while I have the Prime trial active, lol. xD

Was going to start Wind Waker, but decided to give Super Mario Bros. U a shot instead. I'm actually pretty surprised by this. It's a lot better than the other NSMB games. The visuals, while still pretty plain, aren't quite as generic as before, and the level designs are markedly improved in like... every way. So that's a pleasant surprise. Kinda hilarious they killed any momentum this game might've had with NSMB2, which was kinda a bum game anyway.

I still think I would've been pretty miffed if I kept my launch system last year and this was the only game I had to play on it until like... August, but it's a really fun diversion.

they should have just named the game super mario world 2 imo

My wiiu drive is pretty quiet. The only disc i have is zombiu, i forgot it in the drive for weeks and only remembered to take it out after somebody on gaf pointed that discs keep spinning when you are doing other stuff in the system.

Really? I have Nintendoland and ZimbiU on disc. Aside from the quite hum of the drive, which is barely noticeable, I don't hear much when playing NL. My ZombiU disc, however, worries me bit because it's unusually loud, compared to what I'm used to. Granted, I haven't tried that many disc games to know what's normal, but all the loading and streaming in the game seems like quite a workout for the drive. It's not annoyingly loud, but it's audible enough to hear from a few feet away at low to moderate volume(regardless or console orientation).

update: it's now listed as "preparing order". We'll see how long it takes to get here.

Further update: my order has shipped and will get here next Friday. I'll update with the quality of the refurbished remotes once they get here.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Nyko Pro Commander vs. the official Pro Controller?

And is there any chance they go back down to $13 on Amazon? I picked one up but really should have picked up four. Can't forsee any better deal for Mario Kart / Smash worthy controllers.

For reference: I've been playing Windwaker in bed with the sound through headphones, brightness set to 1 (lowest, plenty for in the dark), rumble off and the battery saving feature turned on... I got 4:30h out of it, before the red light came on.

For Smash, I can understand why you'd want them, but for Mario Kart? Nunchuck combo is the way to go dude, at least IMO.

For Pro Controllers on the cheap, one of the better bets is Wal-Mart. Many have reported seeing white ones from 27-37 USD.

Wow, that's pretty quick. I thought "Backorder" meant it'd take a while longer than that. I ended up grabbing two of them anyway since they were so cheap, so it's good to know that they may get here by Christmas.

Thanks for the update Piano.

i looked at Mario Chase on youtube and it didn't look so good, what in Nintendoland is actually fun with 4 people?

Mario Chase is nothing without people screaming around you. This, Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing are the best 5 players games for a party.

Yeah, I have NintendoLand already, but haven't opened it yet. Gonna play with the family over the holidays, so there will be lots of us. As long as the games aren't replicas of each other, I'm seriously contemplating getting Wii Party for the occasion as well.

Wii Party U offers a lot of diversity. The minigames are not repetitive, there are lots of ideas used there. The TV Party modes built as board games with dice rolling might become a little repetitive in time, although there are more options to chose from even there. But if that happens you can dive in the Battle of the Minigames and never come back.

So, I've finally run afoul of Nintendo's stupid account policies.

I played the WiiU on a friend's console, creating a Mii and even an NNID on that console. This is what convinced me to get a Wii U.

Unfortunately, now that I have one of my own, I cannot link that NNID to my primary user/Mii on my Wii U.

I even went back to the other console and deleted the user that it's attached to, but it still says the NNID is still attached to another console.

Then I figured I could delete the NNID from the console, but apparently even if you delete the nnid off another console, it stays in existence somehow and can't be recreated on another.

Thankfully, I had nothing important on that NNID, but it would be nice to actually be able to use the usernames and email that I want to.

Since this seems to be the unofficial WiiU thread I will ask here.

I know that purchases are tied to the console but are they also associated to the NNID you link up to your Club Nintendo?

So, If I downloaded Wind Waker on one NNID linked to my Club Nintendo. Then delete that account and link my Club Nintendo account with a new NNID. Would this affect anything?
All software on your console is tied to a NNID. Club Nintendo is just a rewards program. If you permanently deleted the NNID the game will remain on your console but you won't be able to re-download it. Basically it will be a piece of orphaned software. Until you talked to nintendo and they authorized an old-NNID-to-new-NNID transfer.

There it is!

It pains me to have to wrap this up for a few weeks, but it will make Christmas Day morning all the better!

You should update it before packing it up, save to time on Christmas morning. I think SM3DW has the 4.0 update on disc and then you have just a small update to download.

WHAAA dat bundle is sick. I copped the Wii U zelda bundle during black friday and its pretty sweet still waiting on more title but im satisfied with it tho no one i know plays is so online friends list is empty.

Already done - took about 30 minutes for the main update and neither game needed updating (had to do a little test of both games to make sure.

And download W101 demo.

I promise I'll put it away later.

All of it.

You're aware that you can't really "see" fun in a YT vid, right? Also, it's up to 5 people for most games. How fun it is depends on the people you play it with.

Purchases are NOT tied to the console, they're tied to the NNID. The NNID is what is tied to the console.
You have to UNLINK your NNID and CN Account for it to let you link the CN Account to another NNID.

Well, I've gone from dying 8 times in Zombi U to about 16 in the course of an evening. Every time I get attached to a survivor and think we're really building something special they go and leave me.

Gus, you may have been a morbidly obese gangster, but the time we shared shall warm these lonely bones until that fine, shining day we meet again.

that mario bundle is god liek.

already exists, son

will forever still be named only yoshi's island in my head as they only named it super mario world 2 because of marketing. considering the game was a prequel. I mean this game actually had the chance to be super mario world 2 in name because the content sure feels like it. not a subtitle starring yoshi. and it would have helped differentiate from nsmb2 which came out a few months before.

The U title didnt help because everyone i knew thought the game was just a rebranding of nsmb wii for wii u....

Just had my Wii U long play session with Pikmin 3 for the first time. I could said that I certainly did not regret buying both the system and Pikmin 3! The off-tv play and Wii U UI intergration to the gamepad is really amazing. I did not bother to have it hooked up on TV or my monitor, just the ac adaptor and played in my bed, really astounding. My only problem is that my hands get cramp after playing it for a while. Is there anybody here have cramps problem too?

Hi guys, I'm considering buying a PAL Wii U but the room it would be in only has a 1080p monitor that does not support 50hz or interlacing. Am I going to have problems with Wii stuff? I never bought a Wii because loads of stuff on it could only output in archaic video modes.

Nintendo Land is really fun. I think you're doing a disservice to yourself if you own a Wii U but don't own Nintendo Land.

I wish more games used the camera to show the gamepad user's face though, I found it hilarious watching my bro playing Fzero on TV.
