Ah. It's just that the trailer made reference to the 20th anniversary which would be in 2015, not next year. Regardless, I hope the game is released some time during a school break.

This game is not coming out in 2015 in Japan. They're not that dumb.

ToS HD and ToX2 are both 2014 in the US, right?

So this has to be "early 2015" then?

Three (really four) games in one year might be overdoing it.

I hope that they take their time making the game. I don't want Zestiria to end up like Xillia. Xillia was rushed and some maps were the same (like the seahavens).

Now that we know which side darkside31337 is on, I think we can all make an informed decision about this.

I'm an expert on stupid names. Thray is a dumb name.

Thanks for agreeing with me. Indeed its settled.

Trey is a real name. At least go with that if you can't support #teamslay

If this is a 2015, they really need to look look at it being a PS3/PS4 game instead of just PS3. I know they are looking at install bases, but I won't even be looking at PS3 games once I get a PS4.

I haven't really gotten into Tales games before, but I'm probably gonna get this just because it's a worldwide release this time.

I completely forgot about the announcement (I try to ignore countdowns cause I get super anxious about stuff), so this was a nice surprise to wake up to. Those feathers on that guy's ears are already driving me crazy, but other than that I like the character designs so far. Sooo much Tales coming out- it's great.

The transition for PS2 to PS3 was also a slow transition for Japan.

Heck, even PSP developers were hesitant to move on to the Vita until the beginning of this year.

This is a Japanese game aimed at a Japanese audience though, PS3 will do just fine in 2015.

Here's the official press release from Namco.

Tales of Zestiria™ returns to the series roots of a fantasy setting

What do you suppose this means? If taken at face value, I suppose the story will involve much less "magitech" and hopefully also means there will be less "political intrigue", hopefully no simple "the world is running out of magic, oh noes!" story either. To me, this means that the story will deal with dragons as the main threat, then mid way maybe show that they were actually not entirely evil or something. Skyrim lite? IDK, I just hope it doesn't have the same story they've been using for years now.

Also, hopefully they don't mean "open world" as in "more walking". They better use the space well, it has to have at least a few optional dungeons/areas to justify such a claim. It looks like the combat finally is in real time with the "walking mode" though. Cool, and it looks like the guy character is a sword fighter, and not just a clone of Kratos/Zelos/Luke/Guy, but instead has a very fast and "pronounced" (long, quick swings) fighting style. Can't wait for a better trailer.

Also, for those who really are complaining about no PS4 release, I'd say that the less graphically intense they are obliged to make the game, the more attention they can give to the game itself (read Xenoblade, probably Wii U's X too). If this was coming to PS4, it would either look disappointing as a JRPG showcase, or it would be a pretty game with little substance. With a game like this, jumping on PS4 is a bad idea, don't want them to become Square Enix or something.

Edit: This isn't like GTA V releasing first on current gen (you know they have the money and the will to port it). This isn't just about maximizing the install base money. Japan has always struggled with balancing technical prowess and gameplay whereas clearly Rockstar was holding themselves back for the money. I'll gladly take well put together open world gameplay over graphics that better mimic Anime.
