How to use your PS4 controller as a PC controller

I just downloaded the latest beta 1 update 1 that inhexster updated for the ds4 tool. It appears to have solved the the double input/controller issue. Worth a peek!

http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper

Yeeeaaaahh... I installed this on my PC 2 nights ago and restarted my computer this morning for the first time after having done the installation. After it booted up, my PC crashed saying something like it had to be closed or it'd get damaged.

I'm not saying XInput-Wrapper is the cause of it, but it could also very well be. Program worked really good tho, I could play any game on my PS4 controller, but if the risk is that high, no way in hell I'm keeping it installed on my PC.

I installed 1.1 then saw there were two updates. 1.1 finds the controller fine but if I use one of the updates it says that it can't access my controller. Any ideas?

Anyone tried this with Dark Souls?

Well, the newest version of the wrapper doesn't work for me, and the older one does. This is an issue because the PC is recognising both the directinput from the ds4 and the emulated Xinput.

Dark Souls recognises the former, and as such is unplayable. It should work fine with the newest wrapper version though.

Would never want to do this, guess it's strictly for the players who like the dpad in the primary position?

Shock fucking horror, some people prefer the DS4 to the 360 pad. I know, it's hard to believe!

It's a far better controller imo than the 360 pad. Sticks, D Pad, buttons and comfort.

Also, youre missing the one vital trump card the DS4 has, of which PC support is already being developed - a goddamn mouse touchpad.

It's not hard to see why people are excited about PC support.

I'm thinking about getting one for christmas and use it alongside my 360 controller. Is it worth getting one now and not waiting for it to go on sale? I mean, does it work fine with most of the games? And is anyone still having issues with the rubber on the joysticks?

So the dev is working on tap to click and also drag functions for the tool. This thing is going to be awesome.

Cool. This'll be good for those who like to use analog sticks for more casual play, but want the ability to switch over to mouse input (like a SteamPad lite) on the fly. For example, if you are playing a game, and switch to a sniper rifle, you may want to use the touchpad to make a precision shot. I'm sure with even more time people can mod the touchpad to support gestures, maybe even freeing up some buttons for keys that are sacrificed normally for gamepad use. Just a random example I just thought up, make swipe from right act as pause, and that frees up the "options" button for switching directly to your knife in Counter Strike. Obviously most "hardcore" people would only ever play with M & K, but still, an interesting new avenue of use for controllers on PC. If this get's really popular/easy to use, Sony might even jump on, although there might be legal issues given it emulates Xinput. Maybe Valve's controller will re-popularize Direct-input.

Hooray! Now I don't have to use my wireless keyboard to configure the games! (living room PC gamer here) And I can set the DS4 light colour wirelessly now. ha.

All this needs now is support for headphone output/audio streaming. That would be amazing.

I've installed this thing and connected my DS4 via USB. This made my PC freeze instantly. Rebooted it, same thing. Freezes as soon as I launch that app.

Anyone had this problem? Win7x64 if that matters. I have BetterDS3 installed too.

this. does it?

Yeah. Works fine.

Drag and drop isn't supported yet, but that'll be in the next update. So far we have:

- Full Xinput 360 pad emulation
- Full vibration support (via USB and bluetooth)
- Mouse support via touchpad (USB and Bluetooth. L1 left click, R1 right click)
- Colour bar customization

Only thing missing other than drag and drop support via touchpad would be headphones support via the audio out. That should be pretty simple, no? Regardless, this is easily the best controller available for the PC right now.

tada. delete that, leaving no trace. iirc it's using the motioninjoy drivers, so good luck.

Going to try this when I get home, thanks.

I had some issues with DS3 over Bluetooth(It dropped connection a few times), hope DS4 will work better. I hate my wired 360 on PC.

So far been using the newest drivers for almost two hours now with no issues. Windows 7 64bit here.

They didn't work before, but I did a fresh re-format earlier this week. Guess what I had installed previously? the DS3 motioninjoy drivers.

awesome, will give it a try

DS4Tool 1.1 Beta 3 is available. Adds touchpad support and a low-battery notification.

This new update has made the DS4... Perfection. I can do everything now. Think I'm gonna dip back into PC gaming for a bit. Finish some of the backlog.

Been keeping tabs on this. Sounds like it's time to give this a shot.

Damn, in germany you can't even buy a PS4 controller... :(
Strange. Why?

Although given how expensive the DS4 is, perhaps it's a blessing in disguise :P

This is what I deplore about next-gen. The games and peripherals are overpriced as fuck. No chance I'll buy the PS4 until I see game prices drop to the usual standard.

They are sould out everyhwere. Or they are heavily overpriced, like 80 Euro.

My way of playing next-gen games is just to buy them, play them, and sell them immediately on ebay. It's the closest thing to renting, just needs the initial purchase to start it off.

It's a viable way of doing things until prices start dropping in stores. I've got my money back give or take a few quid on each game now.

Oh wow, this is awesome news.

Rumble support, touchpad support, wireless support.

Simply excellent.

Is there a particular BT dongle required or will anything do?

How much do you sell them on eBay for?

This is great, the new application works great and just in time for me to play Skyrim on PC. It's not perfect, but Skyrim has a DS3 button icon mod so it's a great fit. Love the DS4 on PC, I'm using USB since it's just as easy as anything else even though my computer has Bluetooth, partly so it doesn't interfere with my PS4 (my comp is next to the living room and when I used motioninjoy in the past turning on my ds3 would turn the ps3 on, don't want to bother with that).
