Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

Hows it run? Smooth framerate for the most part? Lots of loading?

From what Ive read and seen I get major Simpsons Hit and Run vibes from it and that I have no problem with.

I never had a problem with the framerate (though others did).
The loading between missions is kind of bad, but there's no loading just doing things in the city.
For some reason, they used really large and uncompressed videos for every cut scene which takes forever to load.

Didnt expect such quick responses. Thanks dudes.

Im sure Ill pick it up eventually. Zelda HD and a Pro C tomorrow. Hyped.

Most curious to try the Pro with 101.

I just went out and bought The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3! Can't wait to give them a go.
I began my Wii U library a little over a month ago and I'm loving the way it's looking. So excited to see how it looks come the end of 2014!

(Not a bad line-up for the console after only one year, eh?)

I'm so jealous. I want the W101 so bad but I just have way too many games at the moment. Wind Waker HD and Rayman Legends will be mine on Christmas so I'm super excited for that.

Wii Remote Plus and a Nunchuk to get started. If you want multiplayer you'll need a few Wii Remotes (nunchuks are less used). The Gamepad is a pretty good catch-all but a Classic or Pro controller is sometimes nice to have to reduce weight for longer sessions.

Thanks! A co-worker of mine showed me the Wii pro controller (the black one that looks a little bit like the 360 controller). Definitely would be picking that up if I get a Wii U.

Literally have a Wii U bundle in a cart on BB.com waiting for purchase and this is the lineup I am considering(replacing Wii U party with Lego City).

Can't quite pull the trigger yet though...

Yeah go for Lego City, it is very good, lots of content. Wii Party U if you have friends or family to play with and need a local MP game.

Anyone considering Lego City should grab it now. Its print run has ended and GameStop can't even order it for you as new anymore, just preowned.

I have one more question. How heavy is the box that contains the console. I may have to carry it on a bus or two tomorrow. I am also not that strong.

Oh, man. The Wii U is so tiny. The console itself isn't much bigger than the Gamepad. It's like the size of a huge book or a box of chocolates or something.

Seriously, no worries there for you.

Gah, I just played 3DW for the first time in a store, and it did nothing to alleviate my hunger for a Wii U... W101 did just the trick though, but I read that the demo is not representative at all. It's not a matter of money, just free time (and games I own and want to play on other platforms), but I'm still telling myself it'll come down some more given the current sales...

As in the game is actually 100 times better than the demo. The demo throws you in one level without story, without indications and it might be overwhelming for a lot of people, while the game introduces better all the things.

That what I meant :) Right now, my Wii U want-list looks like this:

SM3DW
WWHD (never played)
DKCTF
MK8
NSMBU/NSLU
TW101
ZombiU
Pikmin 3
Rayman Legends (PS3 version still shrinkwrapped)

Oh, I understood it wrongly.

Looking at this list, the more you buy it later (when DKCTF or MK8 hit) the bigger the backlog you will have.

Holy shit, that's nearly my exact Wii U physical library. Take away Party and add in Mass Effect 3 and there you have it.

You make good choices.

That's one way of looking at it! It will also give me time to see what games I really want, since they won't really drop in price as they're mostly first party games.

Thank you. Now I just need to figure out the second game I will buy with the console.

I setup my wii u, made an nintendo id, and linked my club nintendo account over 36 hours ago and my Wii U still hasn't shown up in my club nintendo for Coins. However I bought my first Wii U eShop game last night and it's already shown up for a survey. This happen to anyone else?

What can I do?

You could have bought better versions of those games on an older, cheaper system.
It happens that for some people having a much better UI that allows for a much more fluid gameplay transition between menus and the main game is a bit more important than being technically superior.
In other words, there're still a few players here.

Bought a Wii U and W101 last week. Had to scratch that Platinum Itch. Will be getting Monster Hunter soon. Ive never been much of a Nintendo fan, but ill probably check out Mario 3D and Wind Waker at some point.

Heck I only got a Wii a few months back and was catching up on its library.

I received Sonic Lost World for my birthday but first impressions are not good. The controls are frustrating to get used to and sometimes I don't really feel in control when I'm being blasted through half the level after hitting bumpers.

Plus, I don't know if it's just me but when you get hit with about 100 rings you only ever seem to be able to get a handful back. Level select map? No, confused about all the dead space/ blank hexagons. What's the point?

Hopefully my brother has got me Mario 3D World!

Guys, I really love the Wii U gamepad. I don't ever want to go back to another controller.
The sad part is that the market has already decided that you are wrong and that the Gamepad sucks. The chances of you not having to go back to a regular controller eventually are basically nonexistent.

I love the Gamepad so goddamn much, but it has failed to grab anyone's attention. The few of us who appreciate its awesomeness are in for disappointment in the next few years. Oh well, best we prepare ourselves now, cuz we're never getting another controller like this ever.

You should try Sonic after the latest patch. A lot of people seem to find the game much better.

My hope regarding the future of the gamepad is that Nintendo continues its recent tradition of backwards-compatible controllers. By the time their next console is ready, hopefully it will be trivial to include the Miracast transmitters to let anyone with a Gamepad continue enjoying off-TV play and gamepad-enabled features.

I got a Wii U on the black Friday deal. I Just hooked it up actually but I only have the Mario/Luigi game with the bundle atm. I do plan to play Monster Hunter with a few friends but that probably won't happen until after the New Year.

As for games i want to get well there are several. Nintendo Land, Mario 3d, Pikmin 3 but i also just got a ps4... I can't go broke buying games so I guess lol!

Reading this eases me a bit, lol. I thought I was some kind of mutant freak from another planet or something because I absolutely love the gamepad, while apparently its largely been panned and is the first thing everyone seems to want dropped from the system. At the very least, I'm hoping the WiiU can do "decent enough" to make it last this gen. :-(

NIce, Welcome to the club. What games did you get?
I got NSMBU/LU and Tekken! I'm a broke college student, though. I got a $25 gift card with it, but I'm waiting on a good sale to use it on another game.

I love this Wii U gamepad! It's just so cool, and it feels nice! Miiverse is fun, too. I downloaded the ZombiU demo, and that game is incredible! I definitely want to buy that game eventually!

My NNID is...you guessed it: kidtamagotchi
