Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

Thinking about ordering the Best Price version of Project DIVA f, but I'm guessing Sega wasn't awesome and threw the DLC on the cart, right?

The Vita localization was announced so I recommend you wait for it. While we don't know for sure right now, it will probably have the extra songs built-in.

Don't do it. It's probably not going to be compatible due to F 2nd's need for multitouch, which the current large controller lacks.

The game features multitouch? Huh, so do you think they're creating ANOTHER huge controller? I'm wondering how that would translate to the ps3 version (and if my mini controller would do the job).

Dang, I already ordered it! Oh well, it's only $40, and it'll be cool to have an import game for my Vita. :)

Man, just beat Gaikotsu shuudan to Lilia on the hardest difficulty.

WOW

Sooooooooooo fucking hard.

This was the last song I had to clear on tokoton difficulty and it was absolutely brutal. The button mode just seems impossible to me. If anyone clears it, definitely post up. I had to resort to the "pen" input mode, which has a difficulty of 8 versus the 9 of the button version. Everything seems fine in the pen version up until about 3/4 the way into the song when you encounter this winding vortex of swipe moves that seem to have no rhyme or reason to them. I'm sure if someone took a video of them and analyzed it you could slowly figure it out, but I couldn't. So I had to improvise, and barely made it through the song.

This is definitely the hardest song in the game. Matroishka and Invisible are relatively doable over this.

My copy of Project mirai 2 has been sitting in the box it shipped in, in my car, since Monday morning. I haven't had time to touch it =/

F 2nd adds a Double Scratch that requires you to scratch with two fingers simultaneously. This should be fine on the mini controller, which has two distinct thumbsticks, but the touchscreen digitizer on the current F large controller doesn't support more than one input.

You can see a video of how the new inputs work here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpPATTyVawA

Aw snap, there's a demo? Definitely going to check that out. And thanks for saving me the cash, will save up for their next controller then.

Clearing Gaikotsu Shudan to Lilia...almost Vanquish challenge 6 level hard.

I'm debating importing f 2nd, I had fun with f, but it was given to me by a friend, and I'm not sure if i'd pay for it

At the same time, f is a ideal travel game, being easy to pick up and play, but i'm growing tired of the song list.

Import tax worries me however, I haven't imported from Japan since the PS2

You can always wait for a "localization" (if it can be called that lol) so you don't pay import tax. I'm lucky enough that several shops here get the Asian versions that I don't pay ultra-jacked up price due to shitty customs.

Eh, I'd rather not wait 6 month or so, to pay more and get a digital only copy, My Vita memory card is full anyways

So I don't get it, but apparently Mirai 2 debuted @ 88k? Mirai 1 did 86k . . . D: What's going on Miku fans. :/

I still haven't imported the first Project Mirai. Should I just go straight to the new one, I remember reading it had the songs from the original.

Absolutely. It has all the original songs plus a massive improvement in the gameplay mechanics.

Wow. I'm away for a few months and...the Vita version of f is coming to North America! Do I *really* buy the game AGAIN?

Question: I have a copy of Mirai 2 on the way. Is there any reason why I should also want the first game? I already know that 2 has all of 1's songs, but does 1 have any exclusive features that I'd be missing?

You'd be missing nothing.

so is the only thing different with the 3DS games, the aesthetics? Just wondering if the timing and notes are a little different too since nendos usually make me stay away, but I'm willing to try it

Are you asking about the 3DS games, in comparison to the PSP/Vita/PS3/Arcade versions? Because if so, the 3DS game plays much differently, except in the fact that they're both rhythm-based music games. Also the song lists are different, with very little overlap if any.

ah well i knew the songs would be different, but plays differently? Looks like I have to look into this further, thanks for the heads up :)

Just keep in mind that the 3DS is region-locked. You'll need a Japanese system to be able to play it. If you have one, grab the demo from the eShop.

There's a video on this page:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/11/29-1/video-hatsune-miku-project-mirai-2-rolls-out-snippets-of-all-its-songs
- Notice that some songs require two inputs at once. These are often combined with holds.
- Not shown is the touch mode that controls differently and has its own set of charts. It's really fun IMHO.

ah I only have the JP 3DS, and am getting a JP 3DSLL so I'm covered...didn't know there was a demo, so I'm going to try it out now :)

Looks like we have some new song announcements for DIVA F 2nd via Weekly Diva Station:

(EDIT: Apparently some of these songs were known previously, but the screenshots and modules are new.)

  • Glory 3usi9

  • World is mine

  • SPiCa -39's Giving Day Edition-

  • Cantarella ~grace edition~

  • Lukaluka★Nightfever

I'm going to be very disappointed if Mitchie M's Ai Dee is not in the next game.

I don't think a Mitchie song has been announced for F2, but I would love to see anything off the new album included. Viva Happy or Ai Dee for sure.

I'm pretty happy with the set list so far, with around half of the game already announced. The split so far is in favor of old music, which is a little disappointing, but it is all good stuff so I'm not too bothered.

Really though I wish the did a better job at DLC. They didn't really make much use of it for F1.

Well, I've finished Perfecting all the songs in mirai 2 on Hodoyoku difficulty in both modes, and am now attempting to Perfect everything on Tokoton.

Working my way through Touch mode first. Age Age Again was the first big stumbling block, but my god did it feel satisfying when I finally nailed it. That song is intense. (Defeating it also made me feel like I had levelled up to a new state of Project mirai 2 enlightenment. I think I Perfected the following song first try. fuckyeah)

Now I'm on Hello/Howareyou and it is an absolute bitch. I remember this one took me a long while to Perfect in the original Project mirai, but it feels like it's been taken to the next level here. I can get up to a 580-ish Max Combo occasionally on a good run, but that last chorus slaughters me every time. My god. MUST PERSEVERE >.<

by the way this game is amazing.

EDIT: Whaddayaknow, not 15 minutes after making this post and I Perfected it already. I guess talking about these things helps XD

Got my copy of Diva F BEST PRICE today, and wow this is fun! I'm glad I imported it, it's not too hard to get around D the menus. Now to earn some Diva Points!

Mirai2 is indeed crack. High on my GOTY list, and currently distracting me from getting anywhere in Tearaway.

Do you know if you got anything for perfecting all the songs on hodoyoku by the way? I haven't perfected all of them, but I'm 4 songs away from getting at least all SP on all songs. I know you get a stamp for it, but do you get a post card as well? Some of the cards have really good designs which is enough for me.

I've managed to clear all the Tokoton songs, but perfecting them all seems impossible, particularly because of gaikotsu shuudan to lilia, invisible and matroishka...

I'm still so far away from unlocking everything it's crazy. I like how they trickle out the $$ so you have an incentive to play for a long time. i actually prefer that to unlocking everything super quick in Diva.

I haven't really been keeping track of what I unlock for doing what, but looking at the wikis for the game I can't see any unlockables related to Perfecting songs. The closest thing I can see is that you get a stamp (+ profile card title) for getting SP-ALL for every song on each difficulty. (You get the "Keeper" title for Rakuraku, the "Conductor" title for Hodoyoku, and the "Master" title for Tokoton.)

Looking forward to trying those, then XD

(inbefore they make me weep tears of blood >.<)

EDIT:

So, uh, what was that about getting a Perfect on Matryoshka being impossible? =D

my god that was difficult. brb lamenting the fact that Project mirai 2 doesn't have a Miiverse community to let me share screenshots properly.

Congrats dude!
Eventually I'm going to tackle hard-mode Matroyshka, but I think that's a bit down the road. Every hard mode song takes me about 10 or more tries to get all the special points, so I'm moving a lot slower than the Normal difficulty.

===============
So hey, if you have Mirai 2, be sure to boot it up between 12/18 and 12/25 because Gumi delivers the "Christmas Tree" room item during this period.

Swsxwao.jpg

You might be able to fool with the system settings to unlock it afterwards, but either way it's nice to have a holidays-themed room!

livetune/kz has the honor of the Project DIVA F 2nd theme song! Maybe ryo was too busy? It will be on his next EP, "DECORATOR EP" which will release 3/6 in Japan next year. The song is called DECORATOR and can be previewed at the Sega Miku hub.

So good.

Good luck with that =D

I just finished Perfecting all the Tokoton songs on Touch mode, here's the proof for the other two "impossible" ones:

Invisible

Gaikotsu Gakudan to Lilia

That was preeeeeetty satisfying. (I love the rhythm in the Lilia song so much.) Now for the final challenge: button mode! Hoping it will go all out with the D-Pad secondary track mechanic and try to break my mind.

…And yep, I got me my Christmas tree, though I haven't actually set anything up in the rooms yet >.> So busy obsessively playing the actual rhythm games that I've barely touched the customisation features. I really should prettify my Vocaloids' rooms soon with the massive pile of moneys I have earned.

HOOKED on Luka Luka Night Fever... really hope we end up getting the second game here. Anybody know how the original sold in the US? From what I heard it was a limited print run but sold out right away...

Although I have no idea on sales numbers, one would have to assume that Project Diva F sold well enough in the US/EU for them to release the Vita version in 2014. It's pretty clear now that they had no intention of originally releasing it at all on Vita, but due to the fact that people were VERY vocal about it on Facebook and the PlayStation Blog, we are now getting it. In all honesty, I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't get F 2nd at this point. The real question is probably how long we'd have to wait after the Japanese release. The closer they can make it to the Japanese release, the fewer people will import and that money can go towards Sega of America's profits versus Japan's. So really, releasing the Vita version in early 2014 is a nice way of keeping the Miku train rolling IF they do in fact have plans to bring over F 2nd.

Siliconera reports of a patch coming 'Late December' for Mirai 2:

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2 fans will be getting a patch later this month that will fix a number of crashes and re-calibrate a few songs.

During gameplay, a bug that causes the game to just tell you, nope, you aren’t getting any good hits in has been fixed. Meanwhile, The PV Theatre, My Room and the Changing Room will have bugs fixed that cause the game to hang or crash.

There was also a glitch with PV costumes when you purchased them using allowances that didn’t let you acquire the cards that go with them. That’s also been fixed. And in the best catch-all terms, a “variety of other minor bugs” will be addressed.

Three songs will also have their songs mildly (and really, it’s practically miniscule) adjusted to give a fairer shake at them.

The three affected songs are as follows (in each case, the current version is on the left, post-patch on the right):

1925: To the End and Button Mode

I've been itching for Project Diva f on the Vita but am holding out for the localization. I'm hoping we get it sooner in 2014 rather than later.

Project Mirai (the first one) was great and pretty much the reason I bought a J-3DS in the first place. It would be nice if SEGA would go ahead and localize the Mirai series as they are cute and fun. Here's hoping!

This has been a few months in coming, but after some info from hibachifinal confirming this was probably going to work, I ordered some parts from Akihabarashop. They finally came in today, and I did a thing.

mxJaTGd.jpg

To the left is what I hope will solve most of the issues with both the mini controller (pictured) and the arcade style F controller - switching out the 30mm button styled microswitch (as soon on the button to the right) with something a lot more rigid. In its place is a Sanwa OBS-M-1 switch assembly, with a microswitch style you'd expect to find in a pop'n music or IIDX controller button. I neglected to purchase new .187 quick disconnects, so in this picture I test fit the stock .110s by cutting a slit in the rubber shrink-tubing and slipping it over the edge of the contacts. It holds better than I would have thought, but it's by no means a secure fit... though I'm probably going to have to do something like this for the X and down buttons, which due to the support shaft being in the way don't have room for .187 disconnects to be slipped on unless I can give the disconnects a 90 degree bend first.

The difference is dramatic; instead of a complete lack of feedback with actuation before the button bottoms out, the new switch provides some more resistance, and a "click" you can hear and feel at the point of actuation. The downside is the point of actuation is now lower and the switch requires much more operating force to actuate, so short of drilling out the rivet and replacing it with switches requiring less operating force, this mod forces you to slam the buttons pretty hard, which also results in the controller making a lot more noise than before. The advantage, though, is that there should be absolutely no misfiring or stuck inputs like what can happen with the stock design.

I'm hoping to have all the buttons on the F controller fitted with these switches for MAGFest, which will be the real test; the F controller in particular has an issue where just slapping the top surface can trip a few buttons, which I'm hoping is a problem this will make go away.

im glad this all worked out, and my theory is correct haha...

i have a similar setup im planning but with those dome shaped obsf-30Q's... cool stuff

edit - to be fair though, its a setup very similar to Pop n' music buttons, minus the spring. it uses the exact same switches (well on some cabs). there's really no room for any sort of spring in those F controller buttons, but im sure it's doable. so in this case, a harder switch is pretty good.

the lower point of activation isn't that big of an issue, just an adjustment in input timing, already a factor altered by tv/monitors and type of video connection.

anyone here make custom ProDiva contorllers? i need ideas for flicking, should i stick with the analogs? im not a fan of them sticking out though...
