LMAO. What is that?

Sakurai has been known to change his mind from past statements he made. He once said that he would only focus on Nintendo characters when deciding the roster; then came Brawl, then came Snake. He once said that the Animal Crossing villager--specifically this character--was not eligible for casting because he had no fighting capacity; here comes our next Smash, here comes Villager. Hell, he even once said Brawl would be his last contribution to the series, and we all know how that turned out. It's all up in the air, really, which actually makes the anticipation all the better. That's why we have the forum to argue and banter with each other--this shit is fun!
Regarding some of his more noteworthy statements from recent interviews:
- He definitely has a criteria and an unfaltering objective in deciding his roster.
- He also pays a fair amount of attention to what the fans want (character polls being his primary resource).
- He has stated repeatedly that any character not originating from video games has absolutely zero chance of being included.
Take from that what you will, fellas.
Sakurai said:I am planning on doing my best to bring old characters back in Smash Bros. From that perspective, I am probably in the most fortunate position in the world.
Sakurai said:As far as choosing which characters, we had to really look at the series that would be represented in the game and create a balance that would make fans of all the series happy. We didn't want to have all Mario characters, all Pokemon characters... We looked at each series and tried to pick the characters that would have the widest appeal to the largest fan base.

LMAO. What is that?
is it wrong that i am very desensitized to it at this point? lol
Ahhh ok.It's Little Mac in Fight Night Round 2.
This is not Sakurai stating an opinion of what he THINKS of retro characters. Its what he is planning to do, he is stating a course of action he is going to take. He was stating a opinion and decision based on it that the Animal Crossing series was not going to represented (during brawl dev). That quote up there SHOWS he has MADE UP HIS MIND on a course of action FOR THIS GAME.
My Blue Peach one was objectively best.Indeed, I'm waiting for some kind of clever subtitle for Thread #4.
Right now, we have three options,
Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 4: Year of Smash
Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 4: It's absolutely NOTHING
Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 4: IT'S NOTHING
Am I the only one who thinks Chrom WON'T be playable?
careful b4 u incur da raff of coco no ESuper Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 4: Where people argue about Princess Peach's boobs.
Sakurai kinda has that privilege like other crossover fighting game creators to take some liberties with character design. I do not think its sexualization, if sakurai is anything like me, I think its because in comparison to the guys the boys in mario look weird in 3d. They look a bit off, I guess. The princesses were always closer to their 2d art. I feel like making them a bit more human gives them a more aesthetically pleasing design.Depends on the screenshot and character, I don't feel this artstyle does everything right. I do have a few complaints.
Sexulization
Mario for instance still looks the same as he always has, his designed hasn't really been altered in any way for Smash Bros. U, however, characters like Rosalina and Peach have had them altered in a way I'm not particularly a fond of. "How?" might you ask? Well, take a look at their official art and how they are portrayed in the video games.

In Smash Bros. U there are a few things that happen.

1. Their breast size gets bigger than portrayed elsewhere, much bigger.
2. Their outfits are much more realistic than usual, but also much more skin tight.
3. Their faces are changed so that they lose the cartoony Mario look to make them look "attractive"?
In some aspects with Sakurai has a hold of these characters he's being a fanartist and making them unlike their official appearance. What I don't like is that it's unfair and awkward, I certainly don't play Smash for that, and I think it's weird that only the female characters get this treatment such as the butt shots we've gotten a few times.
Toon Link's Texture
Toon Link looks really weird in my opinion. He looks like play-doh, and his colors are darker than usual for some reason, particularly his skin color.

His skin color in Bloom Waker HD
And what's with his CG, anyways? The lips are so weird...
![]()
Sonic's Face
I've mentioned this before, but still, his face looks very awkward and unlike Sonic. Unlike Sonic to even Lost World. The peachish colored area of his mouth is way too thick, it's suppose to be much flatter, in this it consumes parts of his eye and has too much depth. The smile is weird too.
![]()
![]()
I'm also not understanding why Sonic looks like he's 3 years old in some aspects. Another smile I find odd. It looks like a sticker over his mouth.
![]()
Link
This is a big one. The style of Link in Smash Bros. U positively sucks eggs.

His Shield
Like holy crap, the texture on it makes it look like it's not even metal. Not only that, but it looks like it was made by Fisher Price. For some reason the shield has depth to it and engravings, I don't understand why it looks very odd and shields shouldn't have such things anyways for blocking purposes. Know what's hilarious about all of this? the 3DS does it better.
![]()
His Hair
His hair looks like he tried to dye it brown but ended up messing up because he slipped into the toilet bowl.
His Face
Probably the most bizarre thing is Link's face. He looks like Roseanne Barr or something.
![]()
His lips are far too thick, his eye textures look awful for an official game, and his face isn't leveled enough on all sides where it looks right.
His Clothes
![]()

Is Link a hobo now? or is this someone cosplaying him in outfits he bought on eBay?
1. Why is his outfit so blueish?
2. Why does the texture of his clothes (all of them) look like it's made of plastic?
Seriously it looks like he's not Link but someone cosplaying him.
Overall with the color sapped out of Link for unknown reasons and the spotty design overall, he looks like crap.
Donkey Kong
With this look they tried to make him look realistic but....give him poofy hair? Not sure why we're giving him poofy hair all of a sudden but OK.

At first glance you might notice his forearms, shoulders, and head. It looks like they tried to go hyper realistic with it but in turn it looks below even Wii U level. I also find it looks real spotty all around because the hair seems to be going in 3 different directions in one spot all over. Here's a pic of Donkey Kong by Retro on Wii U.
[/IMG]![]()
More importantly, what the heck is with his mouth and face? Are you a duck, Donkey Kong?
![]()
![]()
And they also made his eyes either too tall or too wide that I can tell. He looks like he has crazy eyes compared to how he looks elsewhere.
Let's not get started on the 3DS version looking like youknowhat.

Pikachu
He is incredibly long for some reason. Looks very odd and creepy.
![]()
![]()
His mouth looks like a sticker and his face lacks any features Pikachu is known for so even his eyes look like stickers. His head is probably one of the most laziest things I've seen in Smash Bros. U.

Those are some of my complaints, but I've more or less accepted that this is what we'll be getting already.
Sometimes I wonder if people even care about anything beyond getting a damn character in Smash. I have yet to see people speak of tracks beyond saying that Sonic only brings shitty music with him. Which is a legitimate concern I guess.
I disagree, I like how they're mostly keeping it a Nintendo club. Sakurai has been very smart when picking third party characters. Mega Man and Sonic blend so well into the Nintendo universe and don't seem out of place at all. If I didn't know better, I would have no idea they weren't made by the same company. Snake stuck out like a sore thumb though, I'd be glad to see him go.I wish Smash Bros was more open to third party characters that made Nintendo's history.
The game should have a Castlevania rep, a Street Fighter II rep, Professor Layton, Cooking Mama, stuff like that.
But if they go that way, Ryu Hayabusa should be in and it's not the best idea.
Well since I'm listening to it right now, I might as well post a song I really want.

ISnake stuck out like a sore thumb though, I'd be glad to see him go.
Male WFT being in makes me want Dark Pit with similar treatment such as different voice, victory quotes, and maybe changing the name on the screen to Dark Pit when selected rather than just a regular color swap.

Layton, Pacman and Dragon Quest are the only series that should crossover if Sakurai was still looking for some guest characters. Everything else is trash or hasn't been relative to Nintendo for over a decade and a half.I wish Smash Bros was more open to third party characters that made Nintendo's history.

Just Pac-Man. Screw the rest.Layton, Pacman and Dragon Quest are the only series that should crossover if Sakurai was still looking for some guest characters. Everything else is trash or hasn't been relative to Nintendo for over a decade and a half.

Right before E3, someone posted on GAF a "prediction" they thought was "unlikely," and their prediction was those six would be shown.
That person was the only person on the Internet to "guess" Wii Fit Trainer. Also one of the few to "guess" Villager, since Sakurai had previously ruled out the idea of AC having playable reps. And he had Mega Man in there, as well. The post was not edited. It was posted right before E3 and hasn't been changed since.
The fact that we see a Punch-Out-esque arena (same environmental detail as the game), and we know there's a Find Mii level, and of course the Wuhu Island level, seem to add further credence to Little Mac and Mii.
And Pac-Man? As I said before:
![]()
When one media outlet interviewed Sakurai at E3, they asked about Pac-Man, and Sakurai coyly replied with a question of his own: "How would YOU implement Pac-Man?" And the interviewer -- maybe it was Richard George, with IGN at the time -- said he'd go the classic route with the black eyes, and for his Final Smash he'd power up and chase the others around the screen like classic Pac-Man. Sakurai agreed it was a good idea. The implication, it was said at the time, was Sakurai was already thinking along these lines.
The thing about Pac-Man is he's one of the most well-known videogame characters of all time. He's an ICON. The legacy factor alone justifies him. Aside from being one of the great-granddaddies of the arcade scene, right up there with Donkey Kong, Pac-Man has some quality offerings in the here and now -- the Championship Editions are excellent, and for Nintendo's part, he continues to star in the arcade Mario Karts, and previously headlined Pac-Man Vs., the darling of Miyamoto's eyes and the Nintendo game that would serve as a prototype for the WiiU's defining feature (asymmetric play).
Consider also that Pac-Man is the mascot of Namco, which is lending an unprecedented level of support to the development of this game. The stars are all in Pac-Man's favor.
What about his move-set potential? He can launch himself forward like a human cannonball. He can dribble himself like a basketball. He can chomp and chew enemies before spitting them back up. He can spit out pellets like watermelon seeds, or belch up ghosts. Best of all, he could tuck in his arms and legs and "wakka wakka wakka" through the air, moving like classic arcade Pac-Man. You could even alter his flight path by 90 degrees, making him go up, down, left and right -- altering his path mid-flight to pursue fleeing enemies.
There is PLENTY that could be done with Pac-Man. Trust me, if Sakurai could figure out a full move-set for Wii Fit Trainer (and he has), then he can easily devise a compelling move-set for one of gaming's most well-known and best-beloved mascots.
man rosalina and peach are so sexy in this game
it's unreal
I agree. Especially Bowser improved a lot. I don't think Link is that bad either.I actually feel that every design aside from Link's is a solid improvement over Brawl's. Peach, Samus and Toon Link especially.
It could work but I think better model that would scream Street Fighter x Tekken Mega Man.

The amount of people falling for the sexualization bait is astonishing. Quite a good laugh.
Careful with that word choice.

I don't, it was more along the lines that because he said that Kokonoe would show up.HAHAHAHAHAHA
why do people who are attracted to fictional characters bother you, brotha
