PC Gamers Assemble, Let's Demand PC Ports From Sega!

Its the preservation of games. They don't go to die on this platform like they do on consoles that get left to rot.

Very much this. I won't be able to keep my 360 and PS3 forever, and they won't be manufactured forever etc etc.

You shouldn't have to depend on companies making "HD" or "Definitive Versions". That's just silly.

The preservation of games is certainly better on the PC than consoles. To preserve console games, you need to develop emulators, usually.

Windows 7 isn't perfect. In fact I think that Valve is moving somewhat away from Windows for a reason. But it is certainly preferable to being console exclusive. There isn't a single game I've bought on Steam that I can't play now. And I don't think that will change in the future.

You give them a taste because you will make money. Bayonetta is a great game now and was a great game before there was any possibility of a sequel. Nintendo having B2 shouldn't have any bearing on this decision. Or at least it shouldn't affect it negatively.

Porting to PC isn't just about targeting the small number of people who were PC/Nintendo only gamers who never had the opportunity to play Bayonetta. It's also a great place for double-dippers. There are probably many PS3-owning fans of the game who would like to play a non-fucked version. Finally, it puts the game on digital store shelves perpetually. It will sell for years rather than having a couple of months to make the bulk of its sales. Interest doesn't have to be super high for the port to be profitable.

That is true Steam tends to reward niche yet highly praised games a lot more than the console retail market. Especially since its a lot easier to convince many gamers to buy it on steam sales.

No problem, we just need to do whatever it takes to keep the ball rolling over the weekend. I've tried getting this started on Reddit, but its a tough proposition apparently.

Wow, 50 negaive votes. What's wrong with people? I mean, what do these 50 people have to lose here?

Sorry for the DP.

Console exclusives?

Anyway good job Grief on getting the word out, honestly with how much Sega is relying on pc these day's it's weird these games have not made the jump yet.

I made a post on r/gaming and r/steam, make sure to vote them up particularly the former it instantly received a downvote. I really don't understand the animosity that this receives from the reddit community.

the r/gaming one closed already? heh, at least the r/steam guys seem to know what's up.

Love the "counterargument" that porting stuff to PC is "wasting resources." LOL. Yes, because letting games with a fan base languish on dead consoles, instead of easily porting them to the thriving PC market, is totes a waste of resources.

15 years from now, a young gamer reads about Vanquish on a forum

>track down a hard copy of the game on an extinct console, both long out of production and only available second-hand in variable condition and price.

>it's on Steam/GOG/torrents/whatever and she/he can just got ahead and play it on his computer easily at the latest resolution with whatever mods, fixes, texture upgrades, and such the community has put out for it

Platinum and Sega still receive profits for that sale.

Grief, have you tried posting anything on r/games instead? I think you should by all means if you haven't done so already. Peeps there seem more receptive to these kind of things...

I did and it got voted down instantly. It actually recovered after a while, but it was too late to make an impact. It has now been sitting at 29 upvotes, too little too late.

I might remake a thread there tomorrow, use a different title with a different message maybe.

It frustrates me because there seems to be a near universally positive experience on both Twitter and GAF, but reddit is the complete opposite.

Bayonetta - This should come on the PC , given Rising's sucess. But with Ninty money hatting Bayo 2. There might be terms on that contract where Bayo franchise remain exclusive to ninty for a few years atleast.

Sega owns the IP and all the rights to the first game. Nintendo only owns the publishing rights to Bayo 2. I'm pretty sure Sega can do whatever they want with the first game (just like they released Bayo 1 on PSN couple of months after announcing Bayo 2).
Actually, I hope after Sega sees the demand for Bayo with these tweets, they might actually consider getting back on the series in the future for Bayo 3 or something.

Eh, I wouldn't mind Vanquish but I don't particularly care for much of their recent console-backlog. As long as they keep bringing their HD re-releases and remakes to PC (potentially JSRF and Shenmue) I'll be perfectly happy.

reddit is the spot for this kind of things... just remember that the reddit hive mind doesn't like uninteresting posts.

Damn I just realized with Sega owning Atlus , Persona 4 on PC?. The again dunno how much good it would do with people being able to emulate these games.

Redditors are simply douchebags. I gave you two ups, looks like the /r/Steam one is getting some traction.

Didn't stop the FF games from selling ridiculously well on release.

Haha true that , I found that quite surprising. Might as well go ahead and tweet some of my favorite arcade ports too with #SegaPCPorts , this might be the only time it gets noticed. Bring on that Initial D Arcade Stage 7 and Ollie King.

You don't think there will be a PS3 or 360 emulator in 15 years? Also consider that it could be available digitally for PS4/PS5 or Xbox Two/Xbox Three.

Still hope it comes to PC though.
