PC Gamers Assemble, Let's Demand PC Ports From Sega!

Twitted about it. I would love to see more SEGA/japanese games on PC.

I´m sure that getting their games on PC will help japanese devs to get back into our side of the world, after losing audience in the last generation of consoles.

Pretty sure port begging is a no-go here.

Also, this is going to fail, as it's a scattershot approach to a developer whose home market doesn't give a flip for PC gaming. What you guys should do is focus on a single title and then make it profitable for them when it gets released. Also, if they haven't already translated it, I doubt they'd do it now.

They have quite a way to show us that they don't 'give a flip' about PC gaming. They already make PC exclusive games. They own two development studios that primarily make those PC exclusive games.

Do you not know anything about Sega?

I'd want OG Xbox SEGA games that don't play well or not at all on my PAL 360. Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gun Valkyrie, JSRF.

Also I'd love to play Anarchy Reigns on PC or the VC series, that includes 3 since PSP games are popular on the PC.

If you look at the reception to Rome 2 I don't think this is a valid point.

I've done my part:

Let's demand that Sega makes exclusive PC games from now on and forget consoles forever, this will resolve all our problems.

  • This isn't bannable 'port-begging,' what's frowned upon is going into established threads and derailing the discussion.
  • Hard to just select a title and go, would fragment the community. Show Sega there is significant demand and allow them to make the best financial decision. I would suggest VC or Bayo, realistically, RoF probably won't happen.
  • All of these games already have western releases.
  • Sega has also, quietly, become a PC powerhouse in the last year or so. If you weren't heavily invested in the platform then you probably wouldn't notice.

Which is one of the reasons I think we should target VF5 more directly than RoF.

Not everyone in this thread is here for VF5. Let them show they overall want more Sega games on the system and let Sega pick what they want to port.

Sega gives more then a flip about PC gaming, they are heavily invested in the platform and have repeatedly claimed that Total War is their biggest franchise currently.

I said whose home market doesn't. PC is a niche sector in Japan. Please re-read my post. As for Sega, yes they make PC exclusive games, but those tend to be games popular on PC or in the West, generally. A lot of the requested games are not either.

  • I have seen port begging threads kiilled for port begging before. If the mods are cool with it here, fine by me.
  • I disagree, but knock yourself out. Cutting down to even 3 or 4 titles would be better than all these different games getting thrown at them.
  • Pretty sure PSO2 and VC3 were posted by others here. I was referring to those.
  • See the first part of my post. SE has Eidios, but aside from the MMOs, we've not seen an FF title on PC since VIII.

As I said, hope it works out for you, but I don't think you're going about it the right way.

I've done my part. Realistically speaking though a lot of these titles wont make it , but hopefully the ones that can will make it.

VF 5S - Good chance given the arcade version is basically a PC? Plus many fighters seem to be doing very well on PC KOF,SF,MK... This would be the first real 3D fighter on the PC. Big opportunity here for Sega.

Bayonetta - This should come on the PC , given Rising's sucess. But with Ninty money hatting Bayo 2. There might be terms on that contract where Bayo franchise remain exclusive to ninty for a few years atleast.

Valkyria Chronicles - Highly doubtful , we struggle to get these games in the west. Let alone make a PC port which is primarily targeted at western market.

ROF - Again I doubt this , didnt this game sell horribly in the west?

Yakuza - Rofl .... yea no. If Yakuza 5 coudnt make it here , theres no way this is coming.

Vanquish - YES Please. People have been begging for this for quite a while , please just release some kind of ultimate edition for PS4/PC/XB1. This needs dat 1080p/60fps.

JSRF - God yes.

While I'm not optimistic, I'd buy any kind of Vanquish port with better image quality or framerate for a high price. If I didn't own the port's platform, I'd buy that too.

I imagine this is the gist of the Bayonetta 2 contract between Sega and Nintendo: "You can't release Bayonetta 2 on other platforms unless you pay us what we coughed up for the development of the Wii U version." Remember, Sega owns the Bayonetta IP. Even if Nintendo wanted to secure exclusivity for multiple games it wouldn't retroactively apply to the original, multi-platform game that Sega itself wholly funded.

They both had mediocre sales. Sega somewhat showed interest in ROF adding outfits of Leanne to one or 2 games and also they were playable on Project X Zone.

Both games have cult following and with how cheap porting the games usually is it should be profitable by selling 150k-300k in 1 year.

But I though Vanquish hit 880k for the month it released and Sega said it was profitable? I remember this number for some reason. I dont think ROF would have gotten this number , and even if it did Japan was probably responsible for it.

From Eurogamer
"And even though Vanquish didn't achieve the commercial success that we hoped, it got a great Metacritic. Even MadWorld, which was as bizarre as you like, had a Metacritic of 81 per cent. An exceptionally good studio.

Sales were not as they wanted.

400k by the end of 2010 and 900k by July 2013. Not fast but not what it was expected to do

Pretty sure Sega said PC is their strongest market right now my friend.

I think Jase makes a good point, but the success of another Bayoneta port could be mutually beneficial.

More potential consumers for the sequel and the Wii U brand would not go amiss for Nintendo.

So, we have ourselves a real name of which to unite ourselves under yet?

Demand PCgress?

Eh it sounds stupid and we already have a hashtag going.

We gotta come up with a team name?

I though the hashtag would be enough lol #SegaPCPorts

'Destiny' seems rather fitting.

Love the "counterargument" that porting stuff to PC is "wasting resources." LOL. Yes, because letting games with a fan base languish on dead consoles, instead of easily porting them to the thriving PC market, is totes a waste of resources.

Eh, "Destiny" would probably cause some confusion and accidentally associate us with the blokes flaming Bungie at every turn like they're the anti-Christ worse than EA for not making Destiny for PC (Yet.) when they're already dealing with four new hardware configurations after spending the entirety of the previous two gens as a single platform devteam.

What about "Operation DreamSTeam"?

Did my part, but since Sega's library is massive I only asked for Bayo and Vanquish, since Platinum has experience working on PC with the MGR port. Gotta go step by step.

Hopefully the port ends up working out. There are some concerns about the resolution.

It seems weird though , why give PC owners a taste of Bayo 1. When you will never ever give them Bayo 2. I understand this is beneficial for users who game exclusively on PC/Nintendo and have never had a taste of Bayo. But how large is that group anyway?

You give them a taste because you will make money. Bayonetta is a great game now and was a great game before there was any possibility of a sequel. Nintendo having B2 shouldn't have any bearing on this decision. Or at least it shouldn't affect it negatively.

Porting to PC isn't just about targeting the small number of people who were PC/Nintendo only gamers who never had the opportunity to play Bayonetta. It's also a great place for double-dippers. There are probably many PS3-owning fans of the game who would like to play a non-fucked version. Finally, it puts the game on digital store shelves perpetually. It will sell for years rather than having a couple of months to make the bulk of its sales. Interest doesn't have to be super high for the port to be profitable.

This is one of my favourite things about Steam. And a part of why I am so passionate to bring games to Steam.

It isn't just my personal benefit I get out of it. But I strongly believe that it will benefit the sales of the games themselves.

Its the preservation of games. They don't go to die on this platform like they do on consoles that get left to rot.

Oh man, Valkyria Chronicles on PC would be awesome. It's one of my favorite games for the PS3. I don't think it actually sold really well, so I think it would make sense to release it on Steam or something. I think the PC crowd would eat it up. The flying pig is annoying, but the rest of the game is great. Also, Vanquish would be amazing on PC.
