MS: Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break dates at E3; new exclusives this year

Predictable in what way? Genuinely curious here

Because you're peterb0y, and I'm familiar with your preferences. The list wasn't there as a quality marker, just to show how many games they announced so far.

Team Vernia said:
Do we know if Sony is including cross-play titles in that list of 20? Flow, Flower, maybe Journey etc... might get it to 20.

As far as I'm aware that the 'up ports' from PS3 did not count. I think there was a tweet about it once, I'll try to find it.

MS will have a tough time announcing more than Sony. They simply don't have the first party depth. We've yet to hear from SSM proper and we don't know what Japan Studio's next project is either, for starters.
MS still have more to show. Man, I'm quite surprised at the lineup, what a great first year for gamers with Xbox One. MS weren't lying when they said they've made their biggest investment so far. See Nintendo, this is how you keep your audience satisfied.

Of course, something is always bound to be delayed. I believe this is what counts on the list of 20 first year titles:

*SNIP*

I cannot wait for DriveClub. Should nicely fill the gap left by PGR.

Speaking of, if MS had any sense, they would have launched with an arcade racer and held the sim racer back until 2015...

Looks like on the gaming front MS has it stacked nicely with multiplats Watchdogs in April/May perhaps and Destiny in the fall. If QB is pushed into 2015 that along with The Division would be great 1st qtr games.

Yeah, but now Forza 6 will come out around the same time as GT7 considering the previous development times of games in that franchise.

Has there been any news on a release date for Below? I loved Sword & Sworcery, and even with the minimal footage I've seen, I'm really excited for it.

microsoft always bring exclusives from everywhere for a few years, cant wait to see how things are in 2017, just like 360 after few years alot of exclusive stop apart from a few obvious names

I think Forza Horizon 2 is a pretty safe bet for a new (late) 2014 exclusive.

One of the main reasons (among a few) I am getting an Xbox One first. The first one just might be the best racing game I have ever played.

Oh my goodness yes! Best racing game overall that I have ever played. I don't even like racing games, and that one is just so good.

If we got:

1. Halo 5 with an epic classic campaign and classic style multiplayer (at least as it's own playlist)

2. Viva Pinata 3 that plays pretty much exactly as the first ones, with some improvements, and

3. Forza Horizon 2 (I don't care what it has; let it be about aliens invading the earth; I'll still buy it)

Then the Xbox One shall be mine and I shall never ever look back. :P But seriously, yes those are mainly the things I am seriously looking at for whether I buy an Xbox One.

The upcoming game isn't Halo 5, though.

I kinda think this is the case. They've never said directly that "Halo 5 is coming out in 2014". They've teased a Halo logo for 2014. They've teased the same art with a "5" added to it, stating that Halo 5 is coming, but have never married the two thoughts. Just saying.

I think we're going to get a smaller Halo title for holiday 2014, as a warm-up for Halo 5. I fully expect Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break to make 2014, tho.

Launches "exclusively on" Xbox, not "exclusively for"?

Just seems like an important thing here after the Titanfall exclusivity fiasco.

i only want my 15 exclusives games in 2014...

They are close to that already unless you aren't counting 360/PC stuff too.

Out now:

Forza 5
Killer Instinct
Dead Rising 3
Ryse
Powerstar Golf
Crimson Dragon

Exclusive to Xbox Consoles/PC

LocoCycle
Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood
Zoo Tycoon

Timed exclusives already released and coming soon:

Peggle 2
Garden Warfare
Below

Coming Soon:

D4
Titanfall
Super Time Force (is this exclusive to Xbox? not sure.)
Kinect Sports Rivals
Forza Horizon 2 (probably)
Halo 4
Sunset Overdrive

I'm not sure what the 15 exclusives refer to, but that's a lot of exclusive/timed stuff for one year.

Just seems like an important thing here after the Titanfall exclusivity fiasco.

The deal with Insomniac lets Insomniac keep the IP so if the game is big it could certainly come to PS4. Then again it could be like Gears of War if it's popular enough and MS wants to lock it down.

I think Microsoft will still have a good E3, but yeah Sony has been packing big guns away.

We have Guerrilla Games apparently epic SciFi RPG, we have SSM's two major projects, we have to see Uncharted 4, the insiders keep saying either Demon Soul's 2 or spiritual successor is coming, and there are at least 5 or 6 other major teams within Sony development (Sony Japan, for example, which according to some of the insiders are on very early working on a major RPG, a "Final Fantasy killer" so-to-speak).

Sony said they had 30 games in development for PS4 back in E3, and 20 slated to come out 'within the first year.' That's probably even starting to get larger now that their last teams stop working on PS3 titles.

Microsoft has a big gun though on top of all these 2014 games they announced already like Quantum Break, Halo and Sunset. That Black Tusk spy game that everyone who has seen it says is insanely incredible, a true landmark for next-gen development so far. CBOAT couldn't stop gushing about whatever it is he has seen. And buzz is growing for Forza Horizon 2.

You're in for disappointment if you 100% believe every insider rumor, PR speak and that all of it is brewing for a perfect storm of announcements this upcoming year, let alone at a single event.

True enough. I still think we'll see a DE of GT6 on the PS4 at some point. Either later 2014 or 2015. Makes too much sense not too...

Is there an arcade racer that sells better than Forza? Just wondering.

There probably isn't, more the shame if there isn't...

that are so predictable for some reason. almost as if you don't even need to state them because i can predict them ahead of time and they don't really add to the discussion

To be fair, you dropped Sony's current exclusive lineup, and where it can possibly go from here, in a thread about Microsoft saying that they're going to be announcing release dates for some of their games and possibly announcing some new games.

Tell us more, insidoorrrrr!

Of course, something is always bound to be delayed. I believe this is what counts on the list of 20 first year titles:

Driveclub
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Helldivers
Hohokum
Infamous: Second Son
Killzone Shadow Fall
Knack
MLB 14: The Show
The Order: 1886
Pure Pool
Resogun
Rime
Shadow of the Beast
Uncharted 4

So that's 14 out of 20. And some of those are smaller games, of course. Not that it makes a lick of difference to me since I don't make that distinction for any company.

I think Microsoft has a very competitive list of first year games compared to the ones Sony announced so far. Microsoft has more bigger guns on their list so far, but Sony's list is probably more diverse.

I think Microsoft's goal will be to continue diversification, and Sony's goal will be to get one or two more 'big buzz titles' that act as singular killer apps.

Oh yeah? If so, I want CRIMSON SKIES back! Who is with me?

Crimson Skies one of my favorite games :(

You're missing the 2 best games- Guilty Gear Xrd and Lily Bergamo.

I wonder if that Black tusks game is still a thing?

I doubt Microsoft would throw hundreds of millions in building a studio, showcase the game as a big creative exclusive made from the ground up for their new console, just to can the game.

Just because they haven't bombarded us with trailers every week doesn't mean a cancellation.

I think is more likely that Quantum Break arrives in 2014 than Sunset Overdrive. I mean Remedy showed actual gameplay and they seem to be getting their marketing set in place. We have seen nothing of Sunset Overdrive, nothing at all.

Of course Quantum Break seems very ambitious so it might suffer because of it, still they seem confident enough to be showing it already.

Halo 5 seems to be their heavy hitter for the fall so it seems likely that will arrive there, it will be interesting to see how it will perform against Destiny.

Consider that QB has more planned than the actual game. Like the tV stuff

James Stevenson said 2014 for Sunset just a page ago.

I would vbe surprised if Quantum Break is this year, unless they do a episodic release it off nowhere with the planned retail disc in Q 2 2015.

You're in for disappointment if you 100% believe every insider rumor, PR speak and that all of it is brewing for a perfect storm of announcements this upcoming year, let alone at a single event.

I only believe the ones that have been repeated by multiple reliable insiders. The ones I mentioned are the ones repeated by like fifty different Sony insiders.

And I don't think even half of them will be announced this year. It'd be overkill, and there's no reason for it. I was simply trying to parse out the details of how much Sony could possibly announce out of the pool of what they have in dev, and compare that to Team Vernia's assertion which I'll emphasize below so you can follow the conversation.

To be fair, you dropped Sony's current exclusive lineup, and where it can possibly go from here, in a thread about Microsoft saying that they're going to be announcing release dates for some of their games and possibly announcing some new games.

No, I was simply following a conversation that was started by Team Vernia:

Team Vernia said:
Sony also hasn't announced projects as far into the future as MS has, so yeah, I see Sony having a busier E3 line-up.

I was then filling in the detail of what -precisely- Sony announced, to underline the idea of whether or not Sony could possibly have more at E3 or not. And as I said, they obviously have more first party stuff unaccounted for, but Microsoft has bigger guns currently announced.

I did not randomly swoop on a topic. My first comments in this topic were all about how hyped I am for Sunset Overdrive.

I am most excited to see how Halo 5 plays like since 343 is supposedly bringing back the "classic" Halo. The graphics better be amazing or else

Halo 5 media blowout after Titanfall releases. Launch date revealed at E3. Late summer beta. Final release in October.

I'm callin it.

Looking forward to seeing what both MS and Sony come up with this year. I'm pretty sure I'll have an xbox one sometime this year.

Once again, MS actually giving people that own its console things to look forward to, whereas Sony continues playing it's game of abject silence thinking its customers don't deserve to know anything about release schedules.

This will be Sony's undoing.

Surprised that many people don't think Halo will meet this year.

Anyway, great to have three interesting exclusive titles this year but just not happy with the genre. Including TitanFall, we have three FPS and one third person shooter. Just need a bit more variety.

So Fable Legends is likely not this year or maybe a release announcement at spring

What are you talking about?... MS said more info at E3 for announced and new games

Exactly what Sony said
