What about one save for the entire top ten round, excluding top 3?
That could be interesting?
Just throwing ideas out there.

I think not having saves at all gives a lot of power to people that would just drag people in to vote for whatever they wanted, personally.

I don't know. I haven't thought it through yet I guess.

“The Late Mr. Kent” is one of the best DCAU episodes ever produced, top 3 easily.

After watching this episode earlier following KalBalboa's suggestion via PM, I highly dispute this claim. Good episode, but still hindered by having crappy Superman.

Coming from a guy who hates Superman, this is worth noting!

Now, Tiny Toons...

... is a show, while fun and memorable at times, that was ultimately a cash-in "hipping up" of the Loony Toons. I mean, they're school-aged versions of the originals.

Well one way we can solve that is that you close that one save to people who have voted before the top 10 round.
That would stop that.

Superman is as fast as The Flash but can't out maneuver a slow moving helicopter. It makes no sense!

I think the Flash ultimately destroys him in the DCAU when it comes to speed. Also, all comic book writing has weird subjective moments like that purely for tension's sake (Spiderman runs out of web when it's convenient, Iron Man runs out of power when it's critical, etc) so I try not to cherry pick that kind of thing.

I totally fell for Jado's private message but he didn't ask me to kill Rocko's Modern Life so it didn't matter, haha.

I haven't really noticed it being voted to get killed off much so that part was believable.

Superman can fly. That immediately makes him 10x as useful.

I guess that would be a nice compromise between "You can't vote at all if you haven't voted before" and "anyone can save".

Kill: Rocko's Modern Life
Kill: Hey! Arnold

Always hated these.

Save: Superman TAS.

Any list that would keep DBZ of all things while dropping one of the best super hero cartoons out doesn't deserve to exist. Doing my part to right this ship.

That's how I feel about almost every fight Superman is in. He's so god damn overpowered they drop his power level at the beginning so he gets beat up a bit before finishing the job. That episode you referred to is very guilty of that!

For those doubting Superman: The Animated series, I'd encourage you to go watch some of that show and then consider it against things like Tiny Toons and Darkwing Duck. There's a real reason it got so many saves before, namely the strong writing, the fact it had ongoing continuity and a plot arc that built to a fantastic finale, and some great villains.

.

This is actually the Superman episode I watched a month ago. About a month ago I got very interested in Bizarro, so I looked up all the media he was in. I was skipping through Justice League episodes, and even watched the episodes that had him have a 5sec appearance.

I always found Bizarro interesting because his story sounded sad, so I wanted to see how Superman himself handled him (also I wanted to know more about this Bizarro world). First off, I heard Bizarro was supposed to be stronger then Superman. He was mostly on equal grounds with him on the TV show. Not sure if that's a bad or good thing?

At least Bizarro had a happy ending in that show... I guess.

Regardless, after seeing those 3 episodes of Superman. It might take me a while before voting it off.

Lois's line to Bizarro and his smile...

"You are a hero."

Excellent. Just excellent.

I also think Batman The Animated Series fans might want retribution against Tiny Toons for stealing an Emmy from it:

Kill: Gargoyles
Kill: Gargoyles
Save: Superman

Well, we're here at the top 15 and Gargoyles is the only show left that I actively don't like. Watching the entirety of Superman this last year(along with the rest of the DCAU) gave me a new appreciation for the show. All three shows here that belong to that universe are fantastic.

Also, despite being upset that Doug didn't make top 10, I have to admit that Reboot was a pretty commendable show, and that killing it wasn't for a lack of love.

Kill: Darkwing Duck

Kill: Batman Beyond

Save: Rocko's Modern Life

Darkwing wasnt memorably at all for me save for the intro theme. Batman Beyond while good never touched BAS quality. The grittiness was toned down and it suffered for it.

Rocko's has to stay people. This show was like Spongebob before Spongebob, only more grounded and with a more mature lead character. And Filburt was awesome lol

Rocko was so good. At first I really disliked the art style but once it grow to me, I really fell in love with the show. It's top 10 show for sure.

Yeah, I'd like to see Rocko make top ten.

And a kill vote for 90s Simpsons... heresy.

If you try to kill The Simpsons, I will kill your wife. I will kill your son, I will kill your infant daughter.

That's too far man, every threat towards Simpsons has to be dealth with Simpsons quote.

"I want the BlackNMild2k1 dead, I want his wife dead, I want his cat and his dog dead"

Is top 15 good? While the remaining contenders are all high-quality shows I could pretty easily eke out the 5 needed to get ReBoot into the top ten :P Oh well.

Who would have thought a single vote against The Simpson's, that won't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, would get a death that on my infant daughter....
She can't even defend herself, that's low.

Reboot is finally gone, but this victory feels empty. Painfully average shows like reboot have no business being in the top 15.

Anyway, no more shows I absolutely despise left, so if I vote for your favorite show don't be angry: it's nothing personal.

Was never a huge fan of Tiny Toons. I was more into Disney and HB shows (altho I loved Looney Tunes).

Kill: Tiny Toons
Kill: Tiny Toons

Save: Dexter's Lab

I should be marveling at the expense of that putrid show Reboot. Instead, i'm disgusted. Disgusted that it took the lives of innocent, worthy shows. Courage's loss is unjustified. "NOT A 90s SHOW" well, guess what pal it was on the list! and you know what, it was a damn good show! Original as all hell. Unique as they come.
forgive me, for I am bitter.

Kill : Gargoyles
Kill : Gargoyles

I like tiny toons enough to throw them a save. If it matters. I doubt it.
Gargoyles is a legit top 20, but top 15 is generous.

rocko's modern life had a lot of people who wound up at spongebob. mr. lawrence, who was a writer on spongebob, was a writer on rocko as well as the voice of filbert. stephen hillenburg, the creator of spongebob, was responsible for wacky deli, and was a writer/director on rocko for years. derek drymon also made the move from rocko to spongebob. and of course, spongebob is voiced by tom kenny, who was heffer on rocko's modern life.

The grittiness wasn't turned down at all. Characters meet ambiguous ends left and right in the show. For example, during the middle of the first season there's an episode that features a "homage" to the Fantastic Four with a character named 2D Man that is, well, 2D and stretchy, Freon, who is turned into a gaseous ice entity, and (I think the character's name was) Magma, who is a mix of the Thing and the Human Torch. Betrayed by their former friend, the new Batman is forced to stop them. He turns on a vent, which sucks up 2D Man and Freon, who lets out a death scream as she evaporates, and then uses a hose on Magma (?) to harden his molten body, likely killing him. Not that it matters since the three would have become psychotic as they further deteriorated. And that's just a small side story in the show.

I recently marathoned the first season so I kinda know too much about Batman Beyond now :lol

Rocko should definitely make top ten since Spongebob didn't. At one point, Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob, worked on Rocko. I think some other people worked on both as well. And that's not even discussing the show's content. Lot of racy humor in it.

I just wanted to fuck around the voting, because back in round 20 I complained that voting could be manipulated and secret ballot was better. This was fun! I'll go back to voting normally now!

Well played.

Kill courage

Save Reboot.

Never cared for courage or it's animation. Show was scary!

Top 15 for Reboot, nice!

Oh. My. God.

I don't actually see Courage doing that well in 00s thread. I just think there are so many good shows that gaffers are more familiar with. Won't make it top 10 or even top 15. If we add anime shows like we talked some days ago then it might not even make it top 20.

You can't trust anyone. People will do anything to kill a show. Or save a show. But, over my dead body it goes out quietly.

there should be a lot more competition in the 00s. i think it was a better decade for animation than the 90s. i think courage lasted so long because it was up against much weaker shows.

Your list of shows is legit. I love 90s cartoons and 00s cartoons alike. Courage however is rather distinct form any and all of those shows, so I imagine some form of following/supporting. I think it would still be around in this survival throwdown if it wasn't blatantly sabotaged by Reboot.
Also, I imagine a chunk of those shows you listed aren't going to actually be in the 00s survival thread, but that's just speculation.

Cram every show possible into the thread. Would be hype with 100+ shows competing.

There's a list I posted earlier with 70+ shows on it, not counting stuff that aired beginning in the 90's or earlier like Courage, Batman Beyond, or the Simpsons, along with any anime. A list of 100+ would be very easy to compile.

my guess is that a lot of anime would be sniped early on. i'm sure the simpsons and family guy would be early (and easy) targets too.

Well, yeah it would be easy but quality over quantity I say! I haven't personally watched much anime outside of (if it counts) Samurai Jack, DBZ, Big O, and Cowboy Bebop. So I would end up voting out the shows I hadn't seen, which always feels dirty to me. Oh well tho. And I'm pretty sure TheAbsolution was pretty set on not including Adult Swim shows. Or even giving Anime it's own survival thread.
