I doubt Sony even attempted exclusivity talk with Ea for this game. Sony is done given hand outs and is focusing on first party game investments.
So EA predicted the PS4 will outsell the Xbone by a large margin few years ago and decided to make Titanfall exclusive on the less selling platform?
So awesome.
Does anyone actually believe this? MS paid up, simple as.
As far as I know, EA does not have publishing rights for the sequel so it's not up to them.
In that case I would assume Microsoft would jump at the opportunity to publish Titanfall 2.
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they outright purchased the IP or studio.
I think what he is getting at is whether the money MS paid them would be around the amount of money of sales they made if they decided to go multiplat with PS4. A least that's what I got from it.

Microsoft walked into this gen thinking they had it locked. "You went through 10 defective 360s and stuck with us, no matter what we do next gen you're ours". Dat hubris.

Could be, since it's certainly off to a good start. It's just the PS4 numbers that probably don't fall inline with their earlier projections.Hmmm so Xbox numbers are falling inline with their projections. Interesting
don't care about titanfall but microsoft being called "the apple of videogames" is pretty embarassing for them

Personally, I think MS will try to buy the IP, not the studio. Vince is already rich as fuck,

Judging by the tweet posted earlier, he pretty much has no say how his own game is distributed. How fucking sad... especially after the COD MW/Activsion mess. This guy needs to hire a better lawyer.Vince Zampella has already said they will (eventually) develop on PS4.

But is it his call or EA?
Looks like Microsoft got a fantastic deal considering how sales have played out.
I think that's what Respawn wanted to avoid in the first place, they wanted full creative control and ownership over their IP. I am not sure that's a path Respawn wants to go down. Not that Microsoft wouldn't try, and anybody could be convinced given enough money. But I am not sure Vince would want to do that if he was honest about their goals originally for Titanfall.
It was originally a timed exclusive, then a few months ago the moneyhat was filled up again for full console exclusivity."Exclusive at launch"? Any word if this is timed or no?
i don't think this studio will ever be up for sale.
Are they really wrong though about the sales of their game though? Arent BF4 and CoD sales higher on XB1 compared to the PS4 despite its advantage install base?
Well the PS4 is available worldwide the XB1 isnt. I dont see how only NA is a bad thing through MS/EA eyes. They knew what they were getting into.Agreed. No way Respawn sells the studio with Vince in charge. Depending on the success of the IP, though, maybe that could be sold.
Only in NA so far. Worldwide numbers should be much higher for PS4.
Tin foil hats on!
I think EA was behind the whole DRM debacle. They were trying to force the console manufacturers to implement DRM to get rid of the used games market.
Microsoft went ahead and announced the new DRM and it bit them in the ass. Bit them real hard and that sent them into a tailspin of bad press from which they haven't yet recovered.
Sony, on the other hand, hadn't yet committed to the plan and having seen the shit storm that went down, made the wise decision of sticking with what consumers want.
So, EA was to blame for the train wreck that was the Microsoft reveal, so Microsoft demanded that they EA give Titanfall exclusivity to try to make up for lost sales.
Tin foil hats off.
Microsoft gave EA a bunch of money to secure Titanfall exclusivity.
EA bet on the wrong horse and Titanfall going to pay the price .

If Titanfall 1 does gangbusters I have no doubt MS will attempt to buy the IP. I wouldn't expect this series on PS4 anytime soon.

Based on the advertising in print and on TV, EA is very much doing everything they can to make their games on Xbox One seem superior. From trade-up deals, to TitanFall, to FIFA Legends, and Madden/NFL deals, the Xbox One sure is a fixture in EA's marketing. But alas, Peter Moore says sales of PS4 games do not lie and prove their co-marketing agreement hasn't hurt their image with PS4 owners. I disagree, but that's just my opinion.

EA isn't stupid, they aren't going to sell an ip worth potentially billions, nor the studio that makes it. If ps4 continues to sell strong, they aren't going to walk away from potential sales, ether.
I mean, look at the mass effect series for example. First was hyped up as a major exclusive, but it still went multiplatform two and on.

I believe the online only DRM had a hand in this. EA was the one pushing for it.
Totally possible. I'm unconvinced Sony actually cares at all about TF. Sony is definitely not done giving Handouts though. Not if they want to remain competitive at least. The Handouts will never end for either company.
i don't think this studio will ever be up for sale.
