How will the adult swim shows fit into this category? Shows like Sealab or ATHF. No anime whatsoever?

Perhaps there should be a vote in round where everyone gets like 5 or 10 votes and votes in their choice. A show only makes it if recieves 3 votes or something like that. Not including anime for the '00s really excludes a good portion of American programming. Are we really going to exclude bobobo-bo bo-bobo?

Sounds like the best course of action. a nominations round then a voting for the final list. Then voting begins.

I know, right.
Top 4 is DAMN good.

I was surprised to be honest, even though I love that show - but still would have never guess it would make it to top 5!

I remember seeing someone posting a "what I thought GAFs top 10 would look like" I'm going to post my version of that -
in no specific order

Pokemon
Spongebob
X-men
Batman AS
South Park
The Simpsons
Ren & Stimpy
Beavis and Butthead
Animaniacs

also - of course DBZ somewhere, maybe instead of B&B
Suffice to say I was surprised at the list we ended up with

out of the the finalists, I really only expected Rugrats, Hey! Arnold and Batman Beyond to not make it into the top 10. I didn't know Rugrats and Arnold were so popular

i actually really liked the good few seasons of rugrats. i didn't discuss a lot of it, but it was pretty funny in the earlier seasons.

Come on people just do an anime thread at some point, it should not be compared to Kim Possible and Jackie Chan adventures, they are not the same thing

Kill: Hey! Arnold
Kill: The Simpsons
Save: Batman TAS

Because I want Batman to win :p

I think I agree that anime should have it's own thread, and I'll put up a 00s+ list later.

How do you compare shows like South Park or Sealab to Kim Possible? How are shows like Regular Show comparable to shows like Avatar? I agree that if we include all anime then the list would be too bloated. I like the idea that we should start with a certain number of shows, like 50 or so. We should also have an officiall vote for what we want to see on the list. Voting process TBD. This way we don't have too many anime or other shows. Perhaps Our vote in ballots could be secret, via PM so not to give away the top shows or allow for politics to be too much a factor.

I never said South Park or Family guy should be in there, I would probably prefer if they weren't. Anime is just so different from the Kim Possible saturday morning cartoon style show that I don't think they should be compared, considering how many of them there are. Do you consider Death Note and Full Metal alchemist as cartoons?

Just do an Anime survivor thread FFS.

i think that's a very narrow definition of 'cartoon'.

i consider 'cartoon' to be comics in the funny pages, and animation to be animation. i mean, back in the 40s, animation wasn't made specifically for children, but children still enjoyed them.

'2000-2009 american childrens animated television survivor' seems to be the most accurate name here.

Kill: Hey Arnold
Kill: The Simpsons

Save: Batman

The joke around football head has gone on far enough. I can stand batman losing to the simpsons but not against arnold.

I can agree that anime is very different from Kim Possible. I would choose shows that were popular on American television, but there is something a little wrong with that too. What about all the gaffers who aren't from the US? Foreign programming is excluded? How broad will the programming be. Really just children's programs?

Kill: Hey Arnold
Kill The Simpsons

Save: Batman TAS

The early Simpsons were godlike but i want to see Batman on the top as we deserve such a great #1

Suggestions for 00 Shows : Adventure Time should be #1

Isn't that what the whole spirit of this thread was? Look at the list in the OP, it is heavily geared towards american childrens animated television shows. The only anime included are shows which had a broad appeal to children (dbz and pokemon). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Even though this may be a joke, I have this very fear that Anime would hijack the thread.

This is why I'm hoping anime won't be in the 00s, if anime is it will be very predictable what will be in the top 10 and there would probably be a huge anime-gaf invasion.

Cowboy Bebop was quite popular here (Europe). It was one of the late night anime shows that aired on MTV (together with Vision of Escaflowne, Inuyasha and a few others). Pretty much my only exposure to anime, aside from afternoon cartoons such as Pokemon, Digimon and the likes

Wait a second..... So MTV in Europe was basically Adult Swim on Cartoon Network 10 years ago? I'm not trying to be a jerk I'm just really curious about this.

Kill: Hey Arnold
Kill: The Simpsons
Save: Batman

Alright, let's do this. I'd like Animaniacs to be at the top. Now that I failed to save it, I'll save it WB brother, the Batman.

kind of, yeah. At least in my country

during the day it was just music videos and terrible reality shows

When was this? Didn't get satellite TV here until mid-00s so the first anime (outside of Sailor Moon and Pokemon, Digimon etc) I saw was Kino's Journey and Hellsing on Canal+ Scandinavia in 2006.

Cowboy Bebop aired here in 2003. I remember watching the last few episodes of Hellsing on MTV as well

Kill: Arnold
Kill: Batman
Save: Simpsons

Love Arnold, but there is no point in trying to make it win. By this point it should go to the SImpsons.

So glad PPG is finally gone, way too late but better late than never.

Kill: Arnold I loved Arnold, but even I don't think it really belongs in the top 5 let alone the top 3.
Kill: Batman As good as it is I don't think it holds a candle to the best of the best simpsons.

Save: The Simpsons

The Simpsons is not only the cartoon of the 90's it's the show of the 90's. It was when it was at its best and it's what blew it up to a phenomenon that's still going today. I think this vote was decided as soon as Simpsons was included.

Kill: Hey Arnold!
Kill: Batman TAS
Save: The Simpsons

Here's the deal, Batman TAS is shit. How it is competing with The Simpsons I can only assume is due to some shit backyard PMing/recruiting in comic threads. So here's to hoping it fails. Simpsons deserves first. Hey Arnold! is an acceptable second.

Here is my list of nominations for the 2000s thread... is there a limit? These all first aired 2000-2009:

Sealab 2021
Jackie Chan Adventures
Clerks: The Animated Series
Clifford the Big Red Dog
The Fairly OddParents (still airing, actually)
Invader Zim (if I only get one nomination, this is my pick!)
Justice League
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
Samurai Jack
Sitting Ducks
Clone High (this was waaaay too short lived)
The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Kim Possible
Queer Duck (this show was goofy as fuck, btw)
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
Star Wars: Clone Wars
The Venture Bros.
Moral Orel
The Boondocks
Robot Chicken
Chowder
Phineas and Ferb
Transformers: Animated
Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Ben 10: Alien Force
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
The Cleveland Show

The following all first aired in 1999 but primarily ran in the 2000's, so I'm not sure if these count:

Ed, Edd n Eddy
Beast Machines
Batman Beyond (I think we had this in the current thread, actually)
Family Guy
Rocket Power
SpongeBob SquarePants (still airing new episodes in fact)

These are shows which first aired in 2010-2012:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (I still think this show is terrible after the first half of the first season, but I know it has a strong fanbase, so I fear how far it will get)
Ben 10: Ultimate Alien
Mad
Transformers: Prime
Bob's Burgers
Bubble Guppies
Ben 10: Omniverse
Transformers: Rescue Bots

OK, that does it for my nominations for now.

Kill: Hey Arnold!
Kill: Batman TAS
Save: Simpsons

Yeah, it's predictable, but of these 3, Simpsons is my favorite. I didn't want Simpsons to win the entire competition because it wasn't the best show on the list, but Batman sucked, Hey Arnold! is only decent, thus, Simpsons should win it.

If you feel so strongly about Batman, then you shouldn't vote for Arnold. Less votes for Arnold might give it a second place, which you seem to think is the order of these shows. It's not likely but we can try. Simpsons > Arnold > Batman.

Good call.

I had no idea that there are already three Ben10 shows. I've seen two episodes of the spin-off with the college kids no too long ago, it's pretty good

did anyone nominate Danny Phantom yet? That one sucked

I think of the Simpsons less as a cartoon and more as a TV show that just happens to be animated.

Kill: Hey! Arnold (Ifeel like a broken record at this point. This thread has made me grow to hate this show.
Kill: Simpsons (I just like Batman more)

The Powerpuff Girls
Ed, Edd n Eddy
Grim & Evil/Evil Con Carne/The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy

Kill Hey Arnold
Kill Simpsons

Save Batman

To Save the Batman, everything else must be sent to Arkham (to eventually escape)

My one kill this round is to maintain sanity:

Kill Hey Arnold
Kill Batman: TAS
Save The Simpsons

I love our top three, but let's be real now.

Kill: Hey! Arnold
Kill: Batman: The Animated Series
Save: The Simpsons

It's been a fun ride, guys. All three shows are really good, but really, The Simpsons was and I think sometimes still is really great.

There are so many good 00's shows. Tiny Titans, Avatar (which is going to be the obvious winner), My Life as a Teenage Robot, Fairy OddParents, Foster's Home, Invader Zim, Phineas & Ferb, Futurama, Adventure Time, Samurai Jack... that thread's gonna be a massacre.

You may be right about this, but strongly believe that it should not have the top spot locked up like the simpsons does with the 90's round. There is a lot I like about Avatar and I do believe it is one of the best of the '00s, but it is not as mature as some of the other shows that should make the list. I wont argue about it being a great show. It has a good story, the continuity is good, animation is great, likable characters, decent humor so it is really solid and a good contender, but it still has some strong contenders from the '00s. I guess this all depends on if we decide on only chidren's shows too.

I mean, I just love the show.

Kill: Batman
Kill: Hey Arnold

Save: Simpsons

Batman, and Hey Arnold, both formidable, excellent shows. But they don't hold a candle to the Simpsons. Has some of the highest peaks any animated show can reach, timeless, endlessly quotable humor, and the most vast, varied, memorable cast in any fictional media I can recall. It was also the first cartoon I recorded off the TV when I was 4… Bart the Genius.

Kill: Simpsons

Because everyone assumes it will win and if that was the case why even play the game, plus they've dragged the corpse of this amazing TV show on the air for the last 2 decades.

Save: Batman

Because its an amazing show that spawned an entire animated universe and arguably the only time capsule I will be able to show my kids to prove to them that at one point DC didn't suck.

As for hey arnold making it to the top 3 quality just rises to the top.
