Best show won. I knew it was going to be Simpsons and Batman but never would have believed Arnold would make it so far. Good job.

Glad to see Hey Arnold made it to the top 3. The reason I knew so much about the show and wanted it somewhere in the top, is because I recently saw the whole thing. It comes on mostly everyday late in the night before I go to bed, so I always saw it. Re-watching it was great, it really reminded me why I enjoyed the show so much.

My favorite characters in the show were Stoop Kid (too bad he was only like 1-2 episodes), Chocolate Boy (I liked how he always appeared out of nowhere asking for chocolate lol), and Stinky (mostly because he always had some funny wording, wish I could remember some).

Simpsons claim's it's rightful place on the throne. Batman was great, but nothing beats Simpsons in it's prime which is exactly the range of years we have here. It's easy to forget just how much the show influenced society during that time which is what made it so special then and so mediocre now. It flipped the table on the traditional "good" family model of television so hard that even President Bush and his wife spoke out publicly against it.

I hope the result for the 00's thread is less obvious, but it was a good run. Thanks to everyone that participated for getting me to watch a lot of shows that I probably never would have revisited.

So I think Batman is gonna win. Which of you did the recruiting in comic threads? You should feel full of shame.

Oh there we go, the SadRanger is recruiting votes in the ComicOT thread. I demand a recount!

Pfft. Both AniHawk and A Human Becoming recruited votes in SimpsonsOT so the shame is not one-sided if there is any.

Good enough results I guess. I'm ok with this top 3.

00s doesn't really have clear winner. GAF does have big Futurama fan base but it's not a shoe in. Overall I think it's going to be one interesting thread.

I just wanted Batman to win!! I can understand hating the character redesigns in later seasons but the beginning was pure bliss!!

So even comic books fans didn't care for Batman. Justice was served.

More like the post in SimpsonsOT was made 20 hours before the post in ComicOT and they had more time to get here and vote.

*shrug* Simpsons would have won anyway I guess.

Just thought there were no need for calling SadRanger out for posting in ComicOT when other people did it in SimpsonsOT.

No worse than PMs. And as I said earlier, I did send out PMs in one round.

I honestly don't have problems with any of the backroom shenanigans. It's a survivor thread such dealings belong in survivor thread. We can always have lame "list your top ten shows" and tally the votes for more "accurate" results.

Yeah, true. I'll be in the 00s thread too. Probably not the Toonami thread though. Don't think I've seen enough of those shows to be there.

Edit: OP should be updated with the full top 10 I think.

By the way, I'm totally cool with it, I just wanted to point it out in case Batman did end up winning. No hard feelings intended!

So, grats to Simpsons. Now, on to the 2000s!

Not necessarily. It really depends on how many people actually got brought in from that thread.

Each person was likely 1 kill for Batman and 1 save for The Simpsons. At 2 votes against Batman per, that adds up real quick.

Batman: The Animated Series with a spread of 12 kills or more likely 6 kills on the other show and 6 saves on itself is in 2nd place.

If this means Batman lost by 12 points, that's 6 people. That's kind of gross.

Were only 2 people who posted in ComicOT that got pulled in and voted for the first time anyway. There were 12 new voters from SimpsonsOT.

You added up how many showed up from The Simpsons thread and it was 12 (2 from ComicOT)?

The Simpsons wins*

As mentioned by someone else earlier in the thread, I think this whole thing would be a tiny bit less confusing if we didn't change the rules. I think the Kill 2, Save 1 format worked well, but it seemed like when that changed at the top 10 and again at the top 3 it confused at least a few people, especially those that simply missed the post mentioning the change. I personally liked the changes, but I think simplicity has its own benefits.

Perhaps contrary to that notion, if we're worried about the final 3 being voted on by a bunch of late-comers that were recruited, perhaps we should implement a rule that only people that have voted at least once (or twice, or three times) prior to the final round will be counted. That way, we can't have a last minute swing by someone going into, say, the Invader Zim OT to pull in a bunch of people. At the least, they'd have to go through the trouble of convincing those people to vote one (or two, or three) rounds ahead of time to make their vote count for the final round.

Just a thought. I know it makes more work for TheAbsolution (or whoever runs the next thread), so I understand if it's a bad idea.

Posting in other friends or PMing is fair game for this competition. No one should be upset that the Simpsons fans rallied at the end to take the win. Everyone else had the opportunity to rally people from other threads. As Soka mentioned, voting can be closed before the final rounds to people who have yet to vote in any previous round, but that should be stated in the initial rules so everyone understands what's up if that is the case.

Congrats Simpsons, you deserved to win the 90s round, but you won't be so luck in the '00s.

Because I'm not seeing the top ten on the OP/this page:

15) Reboot
14) Darkwing Duck
13) Tiny Toons
12) Superman: The Animated Series
11) Gargoyles
10) Rugrats
9) Dragonball Z
8) Batman Beyond
7) Dexter's Lab
6) Animaniacs
5) Rocko's Modern Life
4) The Powerpuff Girls
3) Hey Arnold!
2) Batman: The Animated Series
1) The Simpsons

Not a terrible list, but this thread got anticlimactic and overly complicated towards the end. Due to the volume of killable shows growing smaller and smaller and some posters leaving after their favorite shows died off, it sort of stagnated to a crawl. Posting dropped off and some of the top shows probably shouldn't have gotten as far as they did, but that's most likely due to the usual crowd message boards & GAF in general attracts.

If I could kick any two shows from this top fifteen, it'd be Gargoyles and Courage. Seeing Beavis & Butthead, Daria, Ren & Stimpy, and other amazing shows killed off as early as they were awoken my sense of duty and had me trying to kill off (and succeeding in doing so) things like Gargoyles, The Weekenders, Tailspin, and the like before top ten came up. Lots of PMing went down to ensure some great show made that top ten, and Hey Arnold! is probably the most awesome surprise in this entire thread. Superman, in my opinion, should've cracked top ten (barely) and maybe edged out The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, or Batman Beyond, but what can you do.

Our top 3 is rock solid.

I'm just still so very happy that I was the poster at the the of the page the day Courage went.

15) Courage The Cowardly Dog/Reboot
14) Darkwing Duck
13) Tiny Toons
12) Superman: The Animated Series
11) Gargoyles
10) Rugrats
9) Dragonball Z
8) Batman Beyond
7) Dexter's Lab
6) Animaniacs
5) Rocko's Modern Life
4) The Powerpuff Girls
3) Hey Arnold!
2) Batman: The Animated Series
1) The Simpsons

I cannot believe both Batman's, Rocko, or Superman made it that far while Courage and especially ReBoot got eliminated so far back. Travesty. I am happy with Simpsons winning though.

I enjoyed this thread overall BTW, despite only joining in 10 rounds after it had started. Thanks to Absolution for putting so much time into it, I think he deserves some serious props.

both Rocko and PPG are among the top shows of the decade, suck it haters. The support that Hey! Arnold got still puzzles me (it's a good show alright, not exceptional) but otherwise the top 5 includes all my favorites

LordCanti is right, except for the rigging part. I think the Simpsons would have lost if not for Anihawk and especially myself rallying people in the Simpsons thread. The dozen+ PMs I sent paid off. At one point the spread was 10 in favor of Batman until 8-9 Simpson OT posters came in. However, if a strong Comic OT rally had occurred in the last three hours before it closed while I was gone to bed, Anihawk likely would have ensured a last minute victory .

I don't feel shame for it. This was the only instance where I went outside this thread for help. I truly believe The Simpsons was the best cartoon in the 90s. I've said more than once I have nothing against Batman. If the rules had prevented new voters for the top three I would have let the Simpsons lose gracefully.

I'm glad so much WB and Nicktoons love made its way into the top shows. I really think both networks really got what kids were into at the time.

Fox obviously delivered with X-Men, which could've been higher if there wasn't a worry about having so many super hero/action shows at the top, and The Simpsons is just one of the best shows ever made. Period.

I'm not stunned at Disney's lack of top ten, and I think some people's love of the brand allowed a few other shows to linger a few rounds longer then they deserved. I mean, Darkwing Duck really isn't in the same class as some of the shows cut prior to it, in my opinion.

15) Courage The Cowardly Dog/Reboot
14) Darkwing Duck
13) Tiny Toons
12) Superman: The Animated Series
11) Gargoyles
10) Rugrats
9) Dragonball Z
8) Batman Beyond

I can't really argue against any of those being in the top 15. Reboot, Gargoyles and Dragonball Z are the ones I haven't watched. Everything else is cool in my book, even though some could be higher and some lower on the list.

Yeah, the results are pretty good and appeasing. I'm pondering on ways to make the next thread more exciting towards the end, though, but I think I'll sit it out as I wasn't really watching much by the 00's.

A big help might be stating a simple thesis in the OP, something like

"Let's Vote and Decide What Are The DEFINITIVE 90s Cartoons."

Give it a guiding purpose. Make it about a state of time, a cultural touchstone, a time capsule.

The rules didn't prevent it, but there was a pretty obvious outburst of anger from other people when it had happened in previous rounds. You had to have known that people wouldn't be thrilled with you doing it in the finals.

I tried to get it added to the rules before the top 10 rounds but OP didn't want to do it. I don't blame him since it would have been quite a bit of extra work, but it would have prevented this. After a month of this contest, having it come down to people that didn't participate at all is just....bleh. Why bother?

Batman lost? I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am fucking disappoint.

Batman won the moral victory.

The contention here is not that The Simpsons shouldn't have won, it's that The Simpsons should have never been on the list to begin with. That's like putting Babe Ruth in a Little League homerun derby and complaining after he wins.

That's kind of how I voted until those definitive shows were voted out. I think Doug is more definitive of the 90's than Hey Arnold. X-Men is more definitive than most any other show. I think that in some way most definitive doesn't work, but at the same time I'm not going back to watch most of these shows. I based my votes on what I watched and how I felt about the show at the time I watched them and how I feel about them now.

If there's a toonami list does that mean no toonami shows in the 00s? Also maybe once they are all done we can take the top ten from 80s, 90s, 00s, anime and toonami and have an awesome battle royale

I still think the best idea is to just have a thread where everyone nominates 20 shows they want and from the total cull out a top 40 or something.
