What will be Sony revised forecast for PS4 for the Year ending Mar 2014

We will be getting Sony result for the quarter ending Dec. I believe Sony original forecast for PS4 was 5 million for the year ending march 2014. Now we know they already have sold 4.2 million and probably have crossed 5 million shipped by the time they will announce the quarter result.. So any guessed if they will revise up their forecast or they will leave as it is?

I Believe they will be revising to 7 or 7.5 million.. Which they will be pretty sure to achieve.. Although they can top 8 million easily with Japan launch..

Well it looks to have done well in January NPD and europes doing well too

I'd say 7 million at minimum, maybe 8 max. So 7.5 is a pretty good guess

Wait projection is for march? I'm thinking more like 6.5 million then
 
They have sold a lot more than 4.2 million consoles by now as that was till Dec 28. It could be that Sony is already within touching distance of 5 million or has perhaps even surpassed that and with the Japanese launch, they could be pushing 6-6.5 million by the end of Feb.
 
Well 4.2 for 2013, they manufacture 1.4m per month but air freighted maybe (300k) during December (my guess) so 1.1m jan 1.4 for February/mar so another 3.9 max IMO.

I'd say 7mil+ is feasible by the end of March.
 
They haven't ever given a PS4 forecast. The current PlayStation home console forecast is 15m, and I don't think they will change that as PS3 has tanked since the release of the PS4. I expect 8.5m PS3s shipped and 6.5m PS4s fwiw.

To only sell 1.8m in three months including a Japanese launch would be, in my view, disappointing. Especially given the supply issues pre 2014.

I have to go with 7m.
 
Between 6-7.5 million. I'm not sure what is trending in sales in these months to slow sales down dramatically. Then again, all the exchanges and late gifting of the holidays is coming to an end.

Only 2.3m in 3 months? Do you think production will be ramped down or did they air freight that significant amount of consoles?
 
On Thursday we will be getting PS3 + PS4 numbers grouped together. Don't expect any exact PS4 numbers.

Jan has had demand tracking pretty close to supply, February is jap launch and march is Infamous, also aren't we talking about shipped?
 
Heh I still remember the days when some weird, backwater site claimed Sony wanted to sell 16 million PS4s by the end of the year.
 
i will say 7 million is possible. With most people waiting for inFamous and Japan launch. I can see Japan doing 1m for sales till the end of march. And with people still waiting for their ps4. 7million is possible

Yup, digitimes i believe. And they were promptly laughed off of GAF. And here we are, possibly entertaining the thought, if PS4 demand holds up. Shit is nuts.
 
till end of march (2014) i think total sales for PS4 will be 5.927.400


//edit: forgot japan release, then it will be totally 6.947.234 sold PS4s

What??!! No, no...Digitimes said it would be 16 million shipped by the end of 2013. They deserved to be mocked.
 
Many smaller European countries are just getting PS4 released now.

Croatia had its launch on 29th January and everything is sold out day one. Next shipment is due at March and it will also be sold out since preorders couldn't be met in full by 29th Jan shipment.

We are small market, but put together many small markets and you get a big one.

OP related, they will adjust forecasts depending on established production capacity and dynamics. They know they can sell pretty much everything they can produce and they will just adjust accordingly.

BTW Croatian supply is made in China, not Japan as initial EU launch.

i am asking for Sony shipment forecast.. not actual sold to customer.. In shipment sony dont go upto this much precision.. they just go upto 2 decimal places in millions..

Not even close to entertaining the thought of 16m sold or shipped by the end of either 2013 or the financial year we are in which is the cobblers they reported.

Now, 16m for the first 12 months on sale? Never happening. 16m by Dec 31st 2014 MAYBE. It would mean selling 11.8m in calender 2014 though

10mil by June 30th is starting to look like a tough goal to hit would be pretty amazing if it ends up selling that much by then but starting to doubt it where I was more sure of it a month ago.
 
With Japanese launch they will ship (maybe even sell through) everything they can produce. At maybe 1.5M/month that should be 4.5M for January-March plus about 4.5M shipped last year.

So I assume they will revise to 8M.

Yeah, I think they can just reach that low if they stop producing PS4s in May or June. Even if they keep production as low as 1M/month they will pass the 10M.

its combined with PSP + PSVITA for 5 million. Which i believe it will manage... PSVITA & PSP has done 1.5 million.. so 3.5 million in the rest of the world should be doable
