I had constant connection and quality issues with Battlefield 3, SimCity, and Battlefield 4. I understand all three are under different development houses than Titanfall, but they all had one thing in common: Origin. BF3 and 4 didn't have many issues for me on console, but on PC they were a fucking nightmare. I won't even go into what happened with SimCity because that's well beyond documented at this point. EA's PC offerings with Origin failed me three times and I refuse to be duped into going through a fourth.
Normally I'd trust Respawn, but it's already shown that EA has meddled with their decisions in placing Titanfall as Microsoft exclusive and Origin exclusive. As long as EA has any say in how Titanfall is handled on PC, I refuse to support it.
Battlenet and servers were the issue with 3, and 4 seems to be a widespread issue due to DICE and servers, not Origin. SimCity is also a shit game, and all that well documented evidence doesn't point to Origin as the problem.
I mean, it's fine if you're against EA. Just make it clear that it's EA and the games they are putting out are the issue, rather than a client that's only guilt is that it's from the same company.
You get the game cause you like what you see of Titanfall, but not the way EA continues to do things. From a consumer point of view Origin is virtually pointless. Honestly my plan was to buy at a discount, which was Steam in my mind. I'm not the biggest online multiplayer fan, but Titanfall did look fun. I don't know, there is so much to play these days, don't see way I would bother to put up with EA. Certainly not dropping $60 in their laps, they lost that chance years ago and have done little to ever gain it back.
Also why do gamers seem to have such a short term memory when it comes to EA even here on GAF???
I get that, which it's been no secret it's an EA game. Just as it's no secret that it's also virtually a Microsoft game. So you're only just agreeing with me when I ask why complain about it being on Origin if it's a no buy anyways because it's an EA title?
And what is the short term memory thing all about? I'm seeing more people going on about Origin issues back when it launched that are no longer relevant than anything else here. So please, enlighten.
Edit: And truthfully, I'm not irritated about people complaining about legitamite issues with Origin. But so far it's been:
1. No longer relevent EULA/non-contained operating issues (as in stopped being relevant nearly 2 years ago)
2. Complaining about it being an EA service when...this is an EA game. If you don't want to support EA with Origin, then you shouldn't be buying the game. This shouldn't have been a surprise. (Edit: Didn't realize most EAPs weren't restricted to just Origin. Apologies on this point.)
3. Attaching issues from other games that had nothing to do about the Origin distribution service aside from being EA games available on there to said platform.
4. This one at least is the most honest, even if I personally find it a bit silly, is that it isn't a Steam release. Which is fine, it's nice to have everything in one place. But again, where was the surprise in it to allow for actual disappointment? But yeah, kudos to these folks at least.
It just baffles me that people are complaining as if it's so important to them when it obviously isn't important enough to know exactly what they are complaining about.
