Show us your gaming setup: 2014 Edition

Finally another audiophile in this forum. Sonus Faber makes sexy looking speakers. How do they match sonically with the Dynaudio center?

I think I see a PS4. Do you do any PC gaming here as well? How far is your seating position?

Only real gripe I have is the bare floors but aside from that, looks great.

Cross-post from another thread:

Was all set to post my setup, and then we found got a notice from the apartment office that we can't renew our lease in March and have to vacate, lol. They've been renovating all the apartments here and finally decided to make everyone in an unrenovated place GTFO. So we're gonna move into a renovated unit. Will be smaller, but will look nicer at least. And cost more. Sigh.

Maybe I'll take pictures for comparison.

The Dynaudio's are a perfect match. I have limited space for a centre channel so I was pleased to see Dynaudio are one of the few companies that make high-quality centre speakers that are relatively compact. That massive tower next to the TV is my PC so yes, PC is my main gaming past time. Comfy couch at its finest. I sit about 9 feet away.

Nothing too special compared to a lot of yours, but I love it. Might be moving to Korea for a year in the 2nd half of this year, not sure how I'm going to cope without all my stuff!

I'll take close ups of the bookshelf tomorrow (if I remember...). Most of it is just games/artbooks/empty cards against humanity boxes though.
Nice. What color green is that wall?

jesus, my setup looks shit compared to the others here. ah well, I got flowery wallpaper, you all dont. nwa na na na

Got my Secret of Mana poster printed yesterday, looks sweet. I've got a frame coming today and I'll post photos when it's up. I just wish I had ordered a couple more too - Tesco usually charge £24 for a 30x40 poster print, and they were doing them for £5 last weekend. Should have taken more advantage of it, not just the one.

sigh

Everyone here seems so affluent! I feel inadequate just looking at these pictures (;_;)

Call me curious, but has anyone used IKEA gear for their setups before? I tried it once with an old CRT monitor back then, and it was super light and lasted for years.

you mean furniture or electronics? I think a bunch of people here have IKEA furniture in their setup. I have an entire wall built from BESTA units.

Yeah, tons of people here have IKEA stuff in their setups BESTAs/Lamps are pretty popular I guess.

Fantastic cable management on your rig. Very clean.

Thanks. Some zip ties and gorilla tape go a long way!! EDIT: Sorry, thought you were talking about g about the desk pic. But also, thank you. My brother actually put the computer together and he really did a great job. Very proud of this build.

Took over a month to get the carpet I ordered. Note that the other desk is my moms bill paying desk and not considered part of my room lol.

Are those the Harry Potter books? I've never seen them with that spine before, they look really good. Vita dock looks pretty slick too, might have to get one. I wonder if it will suit the official DS4 charger.

My setup doesn't hold up in a thread like this, so many sick sick homes/rooms you guys have. But if I may, from left to right: Xbone, PS4, and PVR on a 37" Panasonic LED, Custom built gaming rig (kept up to date on hardware, mostly) on a 24" 120Hz BenQ XL2420T monitor, razer M&K as well as a Astro Mixamp for headphones, Bose Companion 5 speaker set, Macbook Air, Sennheiser HD598 cans, Astro A30's for the PS4, PS3 under the other, older 24" BenQ (dont remember model) monitor.

I ran the PS4 though an HDMI splitter so it can be on the TV or the older 24" monitor to the right, I prefer comfy couch for most games, but a monitor for FPS.

Edit: One thing you'll see here is a mess of cables, which is actually something that drives me bonkers, but I haven't found the time or energy to tear this whole thing down and rewire neatly.

Everything is hand made by me, wires all all behind, this year I am planning to hide wires for rear speakers, need to punch a lot of concrete for that, to add tubing for wires etc, can't really do it right now, baby on the way next week :D

What the hell is wrong with you talented people?

Can anyone give me some advice on how to keep a power surge from being cluttered.

i have about 8 devices being plugged in and I don't want the wires to over lap or tangle.

This will be going under a desk and I want to keep it clean as possible.

Is there any sort of shelving that people are using to stack their systems? I'm always so paranoid to stack mine, thinking that the enclosed space will cause them to over heat.

After following this thread for soooo long, I am finally able to post pics of my set up. There are a few things I need to do (like hang some blinds on the window).. but I figured that I have enough done to show you all. This room was new construction on a major renovation that the wife and I did to our house. We added like 1050 square feet and completly remodeled the old half. (Please excuse the crappy cell phone pics)!

When planning this room... the first thing I wanted to do is have privacy. I opted for a fingerprint scanner doorlock. It works like a charm. Also, it keeps the 14 year old stepson that has a knack for destroying everything that he touches out!!!

This pic shows all of my gaming stuff. I have the Xbox one, PS4, Wii U and the PS3 all represented. My game systems and my Sony soundbar are hooked up to my W900A Sony 55 inch LED. My main objective here was to hide cables. I still have a bit of work to do but I am pleased with the progress. I needed a stand for my headphones so I decided to use my Walking Dead Season 2 CE zombie head.

Again... when planning the room.. I wanted to maximize space. One thing I decided on was "in wall" shelving. It gave the room a nice clean modern look. The sheetrock guy did a really good job of giving me just enough shelf space.... I also have a spot for my Walking Dead Season 3 CE and my Lego R2D2.

Seating was a focal point for me. I knew this room would be for watching TV and gaming, so I wanted something comfortable and different. The 7.5 foot comfy sak does the job. This thing is pure comfort!!!! The club chair offers more of a traditional seating option.
The painting on the wall was done by my friend. I am no art critic by any means... but I like it a lot, and the red background makes it pop! The pillows are Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper... The wife got me those for my 40th birthday!

This view is from the door way. Like I said.. I need to get some blinds on the window... but it gives a good view of the low profile coffee table. It matches the entertainment center and as an added bonus... you can slide the top back to reveal a huge storage compartment without having to clear the table off. Also.. for the Lego heads... I got the Death Star! I will start putting that together soon.

So thats it.... I am really happy with it, and I would like to incorporate my PC in the mix as well, but I am waiting for the PS4 to offer 3D playback first... I hope you guys dig it!!!

Man, those in wall shelves are gorgeous. Were they a pain? Like do you need a particular type of house for that to be feasible?

They are not to bad. The key is in the sheetrock... you want to use 1/4 inch sheetrock on the inside of the shelf and then 3/4 inch on the wall/ outside so that you can get a tad bit more extra space.. They can be done in any house.

Just a quick shot of my current gaming/entertainment center. So many cameras/sensors..Kinect up top, Wii sensor bar below, and PS4 camera in front of the 360. Spent 2 hours today re-doing all the wiring.

My small retro corner/collection. Trying to upgrade to a 37" WEGA, hopefully, maybe, tomorrow.

Apologies for the potato quality...the iPhone is the only camera available to me atm. Will post pictures of the entire space later, girlfriend is home from work and chilling on the chase, and she does not feel like being in the picture, but also doesn't wanna move, so...yup.

Not looking to win anything, but just wanted to show off my office/mancave.

When I finished my basement I made sure I had a separate room for my toys, games and movies. The thought was so I could close the door and have the kids not bother me while they played in the rest of the basement, which is now their playroom.

Yeah, wishful thinking.

Here's the entrance into the room. At the end of last year Nintendo Club sent me Year of Luigi and Wind Waker HD posters unsolicited, so I had them framed.

9J6lNSr.jpg

And this is the view when entering the room. Last year I got a Monoprice 50ft Ultra Slim HDMI cable that I installed in-wall so I can hook up my PC to my HDTV. In the back is my PC. I also installed HDMI wall outlets so it's a clean look.

O3mSnDA.jpg

Still rockin' the Dreamcast, and last gen PS3 and Xbox 360. All my "current" gen gaming right now is via PC, but I'm mostly on a retro gaming hook at the moment. Everything is hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V673 with an HSU sub and NHT speakers.

And here's the front-to-back view. That 7.1 speaker system is in-wall installed, the reason I got the drop ceiling put in for that room so I could have wire access after construction. You can see my PC in the back that's hooked up to the TV. I use wireless Xbox 360 controllers for my Big Picture gaming.

KRre6Vs.jpg

That shelf back there holds all of my convention exclusive merchandise, limited editions and stuff from collectors editions. That TRON Vintage Figure is my most-prized item. Took me four days at SDCC to get it, but I did.

Uiqx7t5.jpg

Not pictured, I have another shelf with my older gaming consoles (N64 through Xbox/PS2/GC era) and games, anime, and game accessories like DJ Hero and Rock Band stuff, console boxes, etc.

Oh and those movie poster frames? I love those. The are just frames with hinges screwed directly into the wall with fiberglass windows. Two on each wall. I keep a roll of movie posters and change them out all the time. I'll buy upcoming releases on eBay (only official release, dual-sided posters) and swap them out every year, with seasonal posters during Holidays I keep around and put up every year (Christmas and Halloween movie posters, basically). I got the frames from Stargate Cinema and love them

I've got Captain America 2 on one wall, LEGO on the other. I try to get posters the kids would like. Maybe that's why I can't keep them out of the room. ;)

HjQMeTe.jpg

Last thing. I was supposed to fit this in the room, but couldn't get it through the door after the construction.

M944qpU.jpg

It's a MAME cabinet that I bought locally from a guy who was moving and couldn't take it with him. It was a personal project of his, he did all the wiring for the four joysticks, added two new buttons for each player, wired the coin slots and LED lights. He even built his own electric relay so that when the PC turns on, it powers the speakers and lights. But the PC was Linux and I didn't know it too well, so I was kinda stuck with how he configured it for about three years. That was until the power supply burned out. So I replaced it with a Windows 7 box and an i5, an old MSI NX8600GTS I had from an older PC. I use Maximus Arcade for the front end. I ripped out his homemade relay because I was always afraid that thing would go up in flames one day, and bought a Smart Strip which does the job perfectly (and most likely, more safely). Runs better than ever!

That's my mancave/office!

Damn, that is absolutely awesome! I like how it's simple, yet clearly shows you have a passion for the games you own/collect. Really awesome! Looks super duper comfy.

I used a 100 pack of velcro straps to keep wires together. Also got flat CAT6 ethernet cable from ebay which really made a surprising difference.

Flat Ethernet is a great idea. My setup is finally coming together. Built in shelving is done, but needs an adjustment to properly fit my Yamaha surround bar. Smurf run is complete - including one I forgot to add for the subwoofer coax run.

more pics in a couple of weeks. I should have some making of shots too.

Cool setups everyone, I'm slowly building my room right now. It's about half done and I love ripping off everyone's ideas.

Almost everyone has their TV setups a lot farther away from seating than myself. Even in my living room there are times I'll sit on the coffee table to get closer.
