MS have had some great showcases recently and with all the studios under their belt I'm sure this years will be no different. I feel there's a quiet confidence going on and that's not typically their style. It's either the new Xbox PC initiative that's giving them confidence or some absolutely stonking games on the horizon. Maybe it's both.
I think there's been some great games revealed so far at the SoP and SGF. I'm looking forward to the Xbox showcase to see what bangers they're bringing.

I doubt the announcement of new hardware or the rumored XBox PC..... The most is the announcement of something similar to "Project Scorpio" and that arrived a year and a half before being released as XBO X.
Said that, it's at least curious that Nadella is involved in some hype with Xbox and even more so with a message from Phil Spencer who has been missing in action in these things since the announcement of the arrival of games on PS5 and Switch.

Nadella getting on-board and involved is probably Spencer's biggest achievement as MS Gaming chief.
Reminder that Nadella was under investor pressure to shutter the division when he 1st took over.
Whatever he gets involved in is typically "bad" for the hardcore Xbox consumer but better for Microsoft and their reach on all devices.

THEORY: The next Xbox will be named Xbox Green. As in 'evergreen'. Steam added and upgradable, 'the last console, will last forever'.
If they have an S variant, it'll be Xbox White like the S casing.

All that matters is explaining the future of forward compatibility and the app that will be their windows storefront. The hardware can still come in 26 / 27. People in the Xbox ecosystem need all the info though as soon as they can reliably explain it

Should be good for MS stock owners. Possibly bad for Xbox, at least their console side. Satya wants that every screen scenario and with a dying console business, is new hardware needed? And where is Sarah Bond??? She's supposedly heading their hardware team. Used to post a lot on X, only do retweets now, since like the last year... With the news of sidelining the Xbox handheld, is the Xbox hardware team even around anymore?

2. They're not capable of strong messaging. Phil is always dodgy and seemingly half speculating and dreaming as if he's Peter Molyneux. And Sarah Bond talks vaguely and strategically like a politician, can't answer any question directly without falling back into a rehearsed line.
I'm going with 6/10 since I'm not overly impressed about The Outer Worids 2 which is supposedly their big game this year. And this is the year to properly welcome PS fans so I expect lots of overhyped trailers for games I've already played.
Maybe they show something for Switch 2. That would get it up to 7/10.

Can't find the interview now, been skipping through a bunch of Xboxera and Destin videos, I think it was one of those, but he talked about it real quick and iirc it was about a diet change and cutting sugar. He didn't go into details if he had diabetes or was near it or anything like that but said he felt great, healthier.
Maybe there is some AI to use to search for it?

Hoping that they'll finally go full third party publisher route due to how they've been, having their hardware just become a simple game pass media console opening up to other digital stores like steam. Would be the right move personally because of how big their software side is now and what will be best health wise for their developers.
I have game pass on PC and been happy at that from them ebough. Playstation and Switch 2 combo for consoles is all I need now because of the PC side of things.
Combine all that you will have everything you could ever ask for software wise.

But it is more likely. A stronger message outside putting the PS5 logo on the splash screen of their games, is to make a big deal about PlayStation on an Xbox showcase (announce Starfield for PS5 for example)
In terms of PR, you're right; they're not going to change the way they speak. But what I could see is them strongly aligning their message around Windows
in general (not about specific taste of an individual) they have like 5-6 games that are way overdue to be not only shown but to announce relase dates.
if the general reaction is between meh to good .... (6 or 7 out of 10).... brah.... shit is going to hit the fan

You might be surprised at the medical definition of obese. If you are over 6' it can be pretty easy to be obese and not really look it. My money is on ozempic though.

Starfield? PlayStation fans have no interest in that, do they? It would be a waste to focus on making a big deal about that port for a stronger message. I've followed how PS fans talk about that game for a long time since I actually like it myself, I'll be surprised if it sell more than 500k copies on PS5 and if it'll be talked about in any type of positive way.

Next Halo and Gears of War E-Day on PS5 day 1 would send a stronger message.

and Phil to say he's been sworn secrecy they either have something industry wide truly big (not likely since nothing has been leaked) or they're simply trying to get people to not ignore the show.If I would guess it's that they think their move to PC is a big thing and they'll make a deal about an updated Xbox App, with an updated compact mode, possibly with a full fledged Epic store at launch (later Steam) on the UI as a first step toward doing a multi store launcher.
Opening up Xbox App and have more storefronts beside Microsoft Store could be a reason for Satya to be interested. He don't like walls. He could even be there to do a holier than thou speech about how open their launcher is and how important it is for the industry.
Negative take: It'll backfire tremendously. Having Epic and Steam on Xbox will grow Epic and Steam and it will shrink Microsoft Store. But maybe they want out of the storefront business as well?
Anyway I'm still excited to see the show!

So how would you rate it?
For me…
Negatives:
There was basically nothing new and truly exciting. No Forza Horizon 6. Nothing new from The Elder Scrolls VI. No E-Day gameplay. No Perfect Dark. No Fable. No Halo. Nothing big and new from 3rd parties. There was FF7 but I've already played it so meh. No Splinter Cell surprise. And no Xbox App updates. Nothing substantial about emulation on PC.
Positives:
I want the Xbox ROG though. Didn't expect that. And the new COD, that looked cooler than anything else. That was a surprise. Ninja Gaiden 4 looked interesting but too much blood so I couldn't see what happened. Super Meatboy 3D looked interesting.
And Silksong of course!
I like that they had a ton of Day 1 on Gamepass games too. I'll stick around if they can keep it up with frequent releases.
All in all I'm going with a generous 4/10.

And what's the deal with The Outer Worlds 2? Why does it look 10x worse than Awoved? Aren't they using UE5? Textures looked like something from original Xbox at times, or worse, just flat surfaces. The whole game makes Starfield look like 3 generations ahead, and they were clearly inspired by that with the warp drive end of world scenario and alternate religion and the radio channel talking about what you've done, etc. And no real impact from weapons, effects looked like junk. Some humor with the shrinking gun haha I guess but I'm in no mood for hahas. I'm just super disappointed. Meeeeh
I think I'll get the ROG though. Don't care about the price I paid $3500 for a 5090 so just bring it and don't mess up on quality.
