Have you ever seen 480i games running on a 65 inch screen?I wouldn't say it would like hell. I mean I play N64 games on my OLED from NSO, but was having fun with the price comparison.

i was expecting $20 each but $40 each Fuck off!!!I mean so will I.. if they cut the price by at least half per game.
Even at that its still a hard sell.
I'm so glad i got the 3D All Stars back in 2020. $70 for two old Wii games with no upgrades? Yikes.just saw this wtf why?????????????????????????????????????
I played Adventure on the ATari 2600. I'll be ok.Have you ever seen 480i games running on a 65 inch screen?. It....uh, takes some getting used to.
I'll try to summarize my thoughts.I'm not understanding the argument, here. Galaxy 1 on Switch makes perfect sense but 2 doesn't? What am I missing?
Ha, and I, naively thought they would charge a maximum of $20 per game.
sadly sameHa, and I, naively thought they would charge a maximum of $20 per game.
you can grab 2 for $40 if do not mind not having a cart.Well, we already bought this game on Switch for the 35th anniversary. They packed the same game AGAIN? LOL!
I wonder some of this as well. I couldn't tell from the trailer if any work has been done to address any of this. Maybe we'll get some answers pre-release? It's been so long since I played it I forgot about the more complicated controls than Galaxy 1. They've had 5 years to think it over! Better have a good solution.I'll try to summarize my thoughts.
Nintendo is generally against providing a downgraded gameplay experience if something is ported to a new system.
The emulated pointer controls that the JoyCons use for the few Wii ports that made it onto the Switch are gyro-based, without a fixed point of reference. This means that you constantly have to recalibrate your cursor for things to feel accurate. It is objectively a worse experience than the standard Wiimote.
In Galaxy 1, there are no instances where pointer controls are required at the same time as controlling Mario in standard platforming challenges. The only required use of the pointer is during the magnetic blue star segments, where you only have to use the pointer, but don't have to run/jump/etc.
Additionally, when playing in handheld mode, you simply touch the screen to utilize the pointer controls, making the blue star segments completely reasonable.
Galaxy 2 is different because added pointer controls to the platforming sections of the game via Yoshi and his tongue mechanic. It was initially my assumption that the reason Galaxy 2 was not included in 3D All-Stars is because controlling the cursor with the janky emulated pointer controls that you're forced to frequently recalibrate simply did not meet Nintendo's bar for quality gameplay.
Additionally, it would mean that if someone wanted to play the game in portable mode, they'd have to take one hand off of the controls in order to touch the specific part of the screen, all while still trying to control Mario riding Yoshi during platforming segments. Again, I assumed that Nintendo considered this just awkward enough to not want to include Galaxy 2. There's additional evidence supporting this idea by the fact that the Nvidia Shield got a port of Mario Galaxy in 2018, but has still yet to receive a port of Galaxy 2.
So my guess is that they refined or somehow figured out a good way to fix any of the potential control issues, especially in handheld mode, for this release. Either that, or their threshold for providing a near-perfect gameplay experience has decreased.
For the record, I similarly believed this is why we won't get a Metroid Prime 3 port on the Switch. But some of those reasons are a bit different. (Though I've started loosening my stance on that, especially with the introduction of mouse controls.) I do think it's possible we eventually get a Prime 3 remaster, though.
To clarify, 2 as in Galaxy 2, not as in both games digitally.you can grab 2 for $40 if do not mind not having a cart.
yes if you if you already have Super Mario All-Stars 3D you can get just galaxy 2 but just digitally for $40 it should be $20 but F us right?2 as in Galaxy 2, not as in both games digitally.
I wonder if this version will have some of the Galaxy 1 dithering issues fixed…yes if you if you already have Super Mario All-Stars 3D you can galaxy 2 but just digitally for $40 it should be $20 but F us right?
Well, it should be a Switch 2 Edition upgrade for $20 that adds higher resolution, faster loading, + Galaxy 2. But then that wouldn't be fair for the ~145 million that haven't bought a Switch 2 yet, soyes if you if you already have Super Mario All-Stars 3D you can galaxy 2 but just digitally for $40 it should be $20 but F us right?
I'm hoping they did something, for crying out loud. Not that I would double-dip for a low effort Wii port with no work done to modernize/ upgrade it. But stillI wonder if this version will have some of the Galaxy 1 dithering issues fixed…
I already have 3D All Stars so same but $40 gross.I'll just grab Galaxy 2 I think, it's the better game
No upgrades or anything ?
Emulation likely, IMO.Will this be the half emulated version of galaxy that exists in the 3d mario collection or a native port?
Go fuck yourself$40 EACH? Are you fucking insane, Nintendo?
Dude. The fact that Bowser is, in real life, actively destroying Nintendo is honestly nuts.
Facts. Just a puppet for NoJ now. Reggie would have told them what's up.$40 EACH? Are you fucking insane, Nintendo?

this reggie would have talked them to $30 each and both for $50 or $60Facts. Just a puppet for NoJ now. Reggie would have told them what's up.
I miss Reggie...
Not that funny? There's 5 3D Mario games. Considering the N64 (Nintendo's first 3D console) came out in 1996 they don't come along too often at all.The pricing is fucking retarded...
Also: How funny is it that the next Mario movie might be out before the next fucking 3D Mario game.
Oh, for sure. Not to mention Yoshi, and like 242 stars? Crazy. I've love to finish it this time.I'll just grab Galaxy 2 I think, it's the better game
To be fair it was a move of desperation because move at the time. It was so cheap it was ridiculous. They put the Prime Trilogy on it for $19.99, it was just insane. To be fair, they're both better games than anything you can get for €40 these days, except Silksong (I guess; I don't have Silksong yet).
Ninty was selling Wii games on WiiU at €20 already, and without any enhancements. Whoever thought they'd sell the Galaxy games uprezzed and with reworked controls at that price, only has themselves to blame.
But yeah, €40 each is steep.
With the best theme ever
It will obviously come with Switch 2 enhancements. Not even a Switch 2 version? Fuck off.
Go fuck yourself
Go emulate
just saw this wtf why?????????????????????????????????????
My least favorite 3D entries

Never liked the stupid waggle controls. Dont think I finished part 2.
I've been emulating since I was a child due to not having money for consoles back in the day, I have a lot of experience with emulation and because of that I've had game breaking emulation errors, enough to always prefer OG hardware whenever possible now that I can. I think having it on Switch 2 is the perfect choice for me, without even considering having to get a Wii, PC disk drive, OG Wii game, etc. and go through all the hassle just to run the game, and that's before thinking on the controller setup (yes, I "nerded" a lot with Wiimote connected to PC back in the day too, but yet).indeed.
reminder that you can emulate these games on nearly any device you own.
PC, Xbox SX, Android (I think iOS too), Steam Deck, any Windows Handheld etc.
the original 3D collection was already kind of a joke, but at least that was 3 games at 60€, not 2 at 70€ (or 1 at 40€).
but even there better alternatives existed already, like Dolphin + 60fps patch for Sunshine and the decomp Mario 64 on PC.
i got Galaxy 2 found out the hard way you can't use eShop funds for pre-orders anymore

4K on Switch 2No SWITCH 2 version is BS!
So most people playing this will have to play at 720p stretched to 1080p on the Switch 2 screen
Nintendo has already been horrible updating their Switch 1 games for Switch 2 but for them to be releasing brand new games without a Switch 2 version?? THIS is why people hate Nintendo right now. There's NO GOOD REASON OTHER THAN LAZINESS
