‘Porn Kills Love’ billboards all around the Bay Area

Not really. The best way to make someone talk about something is to make it controversial as hell.

I disagree. This campaign is about informing people and engaging in a dialogue. Making a drama spectacle is not a good way to make someone talk about something. You risk getting side tracked as people get their feelings hurt, grow stubborn and just delve into things that talk besides the issues. We've seen plenty of that here. People ending up arguing about semantics meanings and technicalities because a controversial subject is being presented. The more reasonable you are in your dialogue, the better the chances are that the opposition will be as well. It's a pretty universal rule that works everywhere- Unless people are delusional or somehow deranged of course.
This is not really different from the junk shit put form by abstinence education.

I know GAF loves porn and all but I do know a couple of relationship and marriages who got destroyed because of porn.

You are making a leap that I was saying that while it was all in jest. I assume nothing about what people do with their porno watching.

And actually, had you bothered to read the website you want to start dialogue with, you'd see they try and desperately make a connection between the two:

http://www.fightthenewdrug.org/the-four-damaging-myths-of-porn/

Not sure if this post was in jest too? But what you quoted is talking about masturbating to porn, which, as I indicated before, is not the same as simply mast....... you know what, nevermind. lol

In what way if you don't mind me asking?
If it was just because one party didn't want the other watching, it's not a very valid argument.

Edit: None of all that matters.

As you read in Lesson 1 , a man who masturbates frequently can soon develop erection problems when he’s with his partner. Add porn to the mix, and he can become unable to have sex and then start allowing his fantasies to cloud his judgment.

http://www.fightthenewdrug.org/porn-is-taking-away-mens-ability-to-have-actual-sex/

So masturbation is bad too. But masturbation with porn is worse. I once again urge you to actually browse through the website before making statements in defense.

These puritanical busybodies should mind their own business. How incredibly presumptuous to lecture any and all strangers on how they should relate to their sexuality. Gross.

I would bet anything that most of these people consume porn, and even have plenty of their own borderline creepy paraphilias. Hypocrisy goes hand in hand with sexual conservatism. It's practically a cliche that guiltmongers and repression police secretly have wanton proclivities.

Excess can turn any situation bad.
The billboard however, are dumb.

And there it is.

Porn is fine. Millions watch it and are fine. Some people get wrecked by it, just like they might get wrecked by alcohol or a 135 lb bench press. If you are weak minded or don't even lift, then you might have problems.

Alcohol might not be the comparison you want since it is objectively bad for your body, even if you've developed a tolerance.

I thought there was a bunch of research that talked about the positives of a bit of wine a day

Regardless I don't mind the comparison because like all media, porn can be called bad as its a waste of time. It's just entertainment, just like the occasional drink out. But all entertainment is harmful when overdone.

Red wine, but not for the alcohol. You'd get the same benefits from mosto (unfermented wine).

My gf and I watch porn together and film ourselves sometimes. So, #PornInspiresLove
Porn literally murders love though, so you should probably brace yourself for your intimate bond to shatter into thousands of smoking shards by next weekend. Proscriptive generalizations are never wrong.

I stopped using porn to masturbate and a year later I honestly feel like I have a healthier sex life.

Not going to ever suggest that people stop doing whatever they like, but I personally enjoyed the change.

The people who made the fonts are jerking off.
The people who wrote that are jerking off.
The people who put up that sign? Jerking off.
The people who made the website? Jerking off as we speak.
The people who are behind the organization? They go home and beat the shit out of their genitalia.

But but but they don't make porn, and that's what differentiates them from other jerks!11!!111

is that macklemore?

So fucking stupid. There's probably millions out there that use porn as an outlet Because they can't get the love being talked about here.

Especially in third world countries, it ain't easy to get your knob wet without marriage and marriages are either unaffordable or making you settle at an early age.

Look. I'm not going to defend a bunch of Mormons shaming people for enjoying pornography. I mean, before pornography, people had to go out and procure prostitutes or if they were really desperate, they might end up raping someone (does this seem like an off the cuff comment? It's not, it's a statistical correlation. http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/everyday_economics/2006/10/how_the_web_prevents_rape.html). If porn can help some lonely single guy or gal get their rocks off without a partner, more power to them.

But porn really does affect your romantic relationships. At least the sexual part. When I used to jack it a little less than once a day, I found that I couldn't keep it up with my girlfriend, that I would get distracted easily, that I wasn't as attracted to her, and that even if all those things weren't happening, I had an insanely difficult time finishing. We'd go 30 minutes trying everything before I had to disappoint her by pulling out the lube and saying "I guess only a handjob is going to work this time." It affected us in a serious way.

Then I taught myself some basic self control and didn't touch myself for two weeks. Started having amazing sex again. Resensitizing can and does happen. At the time of writing this, I have had amazing sex three times today. And I am very certain that if I had still watched porn like I used to, I would not have been able to have been so satisfied, or had the ability to satisfy, as much as I was and did.

Most human beings in this country and other developed countries are in sexual relationships with other people. If you are not in one, this does not apply to you.

Your projecting bro, most people can control themselves.

That's completely anecdotal. I have no doubt that it affects your relationships sexually for some. And emphasis on that "some".

From your situation, it sounds like oversitmulation (since you were jacking off once a day) contributed to your problem, alongside unrealistic expectations of your partner. Obviously blocking those off two problems allowed you to perform better physically and mentally.

What I'm saying is, porn can lead to those problems if your mentality allows (or if you run into addiction), but to say it's a definite source of problems in a relationship every single time is ridiculous. Other people in this thread watch porn with their couples. Some even watch porn alone without their significant other and have no problems performing (I used to watch and keep it going, but I don't watch nearly as much as I used to).

Oh, and I'm in a sexual relationship, so this does apply to me.

Someone on my Facebook posts stuff from the Porn Kills Love website and I think it's funny how it seems to be one of the most important things to them. It's probably one of the less harmful religious movements going on right now.

Though I genuinely wonder why these people don't focus more on how bad the industry can be for the female porn actors. Even though tons of people don't care who watches porn the fact that the industry can be a terrible place for women is inevitably concerning. Though perhaps that leads to the argument that things can be improved instead of abolishing porn altogether.

I know plenty of people on this "Porn kills love bandwagon" and those that say "Porn kills relationships!" To be sure, I've seen people's unhealthy attitudes to porn kill relationships, but not the porn itself.

the issue comes from lack of honesty/maturity. People have needs, and yes, some of those needs are of a sexual nature. Either you can discuss those maturely and be open and honest about them, or attempt to stifle them either in yourself or your partner. I've seen that kill many, many, many more relationships than the 1 relationship where it was actually the porn that was the problem (and even then, I'd argue that problem was the guy not being honest with himself and his wife as to what he needed).

I remember seeing one post from this "Porn kills love" group that said something like "78% of women say they feel insecure when their SO watches porn." My immediate thought (after "what bullshit stat is this?") was "Maybe 78% of women need to stop projecting their insecurities on porn."

Why those needs have to be satisfied by watching porn? Because it's easy? Because it makes the physical satisfaction bigger?

I don't think it's quite right to blame insecure people for their insecurities. Insecurity isn't always about a person not being able to deal with some outside force. Sometimes there really is a problem in culture too.
