Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.

I'm pleased I just got up to date in time for the new season to kick off. I did a lttp thread, but it was full of negativity, so I look forward to discussing this season with actual fans of the show.

Some quick thoughts on Season 4:

The first episodes that revolved around the virus seem like a complete waste of time. It was initially compelling, when that lad appeared to turn whilst still alive. But it was just a terrible flu that eneded up killing everyone but the main characters, and was cured with vetinary drugs and forgotten about once the Governor reappeared. But then things got awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed his flashback scenes, and they culminated in the season 3 finale that should have been. Fantastic stuff. And then the second half of the season, on the road to Terminus, was absolutely brilliant. Particular shout out to The Grove episode. What a shocker.

Also, Rick's final line. I bet they are man.

Gimme dat season 5!

Well, it's nice to see some hype here, at least!

Also, stop saying that! :p

I just mean that it's often hard to find rationality in these threads since a lot of people here have made it a sport to "hate watch" the show every week. It might take a while, but you'll get used to it. :p

Like I said in the other thread, I'm a Lost fan, so I should be used to it. But I've just blown through every episode of this in a short space of time, so I guess I'm particularly enthusiastic about it. The hate has come as a bit of a surprise.

I think a lot of the show's problems (erratic pacing, uneventful arcs, frustrating character actions) are easier to overlook for the people who binged the entire thing over the course of a few weeks as opposed to the people who have been watching one episode a week for the last 4 years. Frustration builds so memes and jokes get created, blowing the show's issues way out of proportion, and the atmosphere of the thread becomes highly acidic, turning it into a place for all the people who only enjoy discussing the aspects of the show that they dislike to revel in.

It can get frustrating at times, but as I said, you get used to it. Skipping over all the one sentence drive by shit posts is pretty easy.

Last season was terrible, still cant believe i watched it every week. Not sure if ill watch this season, will prolly just binge it once its all done with. Same with Sons of Anarchy

I wonder why they didn't do webisodes this year? I mean, they were never good or interesting, and they didn't add anything to the main show, and I don't think many people watched them, but AMC seemed intent to keep them going. I assume they cost a bit to make though, so maybe they're using the webisode money on the main show? I hope that's the case.

I wonder what the budget is like now compared to a 2 seasons ago for instance.

Finally all caught up thanks to Netflix! Question about the last episode of season 4

Who did Rick kill that was one of the hunters friends? (The group Daryl ended up with)

They came into the house Rick was resting in and he killed one of them to escape.

Part 2 was so much better than part 1. I really enjoyed everyone exploring the post apocalyptic shitstorm. The whole prison virus arc felt claustrophobic and just all around unpleasant, which was probably what they were going for, but I had no interest in rewatching it.

Anyway,

Better not die list:

-Boss Carl
-Michonne
-Daryl
-Sweet Sasha
-Beth even though she's probably dead already.
-Based Tyrese
-Rosita

Needs to look at the flowers list:

-Bob
-Glenn
-Maggie only because Glenn's Death would likely be a package deal.
-Mullet Scientist

Rick is an immortal so I didn't even bother with him.

And here in Sweden, I'm stuck having to watch season 4. Kanal 9 (under SBS/Discovery Channel) is just wrapping up this season, showing episode 15 tomorrow. Nevertheless, I'm excited for the new season, it looks awesome.

If Glenn dies this season, I'll happily eat one of my legs on webcam.
holding you to this!!

I'd hate being that far behind. Internet man. Internet. Not that I'm implying anything :p

I'll riot if Carol dies!

Same.

The general consensus is that the budget has increased every year, but no figures have been released and I doubt AMC will ever talk about the show's budget again due to the shitstorm that ensued when they sliced the per episode budget of season 2 (while increasing the overall budget for the season). I mean, people still to this day "hate AMC" over that. Which numbs my mind a little.

The kid does age a bit, he is supposed to be 14 in season 4.

Yeah, there have been multiple time jumps over the course of the series.

I really hope this season approaches "so bad it's good" territory. Last year was just dreadful for the most part...
