Walking Dead Boss Previews 'Intense, Contemplative' Season 6 Premiere, Teases Big Morgan Flashback Episode

Gimple likens the season premiere to a mash-up of Season 4 installments “Indifference” and “Internment” (AKA 4.04 and 4.05). “I thought it would be a cool idea to do both of those episodes at the same time,” he shares. “Episode 4 set up that whole season. It showed all of these interpersonal relationships, and it culminated in a huge set piece. And then Episode 5 was just insanity from start to finish.”

Speaking of big Season 6 episodes, Gimple confirms that an upcoming hour will flash back to show viewers how Morgan transformed from the “disturbed, homicidal, traumatized” individual he was in Season 3’s “Clear” to the person in the Season 5 finale “who said that he believes all life is precious.” Acknowledges the EP: “Something happened in the middle of all of that. And we really do need to show [it to] you.”

YES, a Morgan flashback episode!

What happened in those S4 episodes? Been a while
Indifference focused exclusively on a single group on a run (Rick, Daryl, Carol, Tyreese, Bob, Michonne) and had Rick banishing Carol after her actions back at the prison where she killed Karen. (Technically David too... but nobody ever remembers David.)

Internment was the end of the virus subplot where the zombies overran the prison. Pretty much the final Hershel-centric episode. Governor shows up in a cameo teaser right at the end.

The Walking Dead: Fresh Intel on
Negan's
Arrival

Earlier this month, The Walking Dead issued a casting notice for the role of “Orin,” an imposing, charismatic, brutal, frightening, ferocious and hilarious sociopath in his 30s to mid 40s that is both a leader (and killer) of men. The character would first appear in Season 6’s 16th episode (AKA the finale) and be back (likely as a series regular) for subsequent seasons.

When asked if “Orin” is actually “
Negan
,” showrunner Scott M. Gimple replied to TVLine, “I can neither confirm nor deny,” before cheekily adding, “It’s not the worst guess in the world. It’s difficult to get around your logic here.”

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I am! I am! Fear the Walking Dead was alright but nowhere near as fun as Rick's group( now with more Morgan!)
Fear was a complete letdown compared to the main series. Glad that S6 is finally here.

The season finale is the perfect time to introduce him. It'll be the season-ending cliff hanger to end all cliff hangers if done properly. Season 6 is shaping up to be godly. Really curious to see who they casted for him.

Applogies that the S6 OT isn't up yet, ya'll. MGS5 has consumed most of my free time over the past month. lol

I'm aiming to have it posted by tomorrow night.

Bit of a non-problem here. Hopefully GAF can help...

I've seen all of TWD to date and plan to watch this Sunday, but have not seen any of FTWD. Is it worth taking 5-6 hours out of my Saturday or Sunday to binge-watch this prior to the premier? I know they aren't directly related, but I don't want to miss out on good content and typically like to stick to airing order.

Any thoughts? I simply don't know if it's worth my time or not, honestly.

I thought it was fantastic. I'm dreading going back to the main series after watching it. Things are fresh and tense again. It's not just going around in circles.

I just watched episode 3 and I'm planning on watching the rest before the new season airs, I'm enjoying it so far. It's different in tone but in a good way, tense and scary.

It might be slow paced if watched an episode a week like normal, but it's quite good to binge watch. Try the first episode and see if you like it. At the very worst it will get you pumped for the new season at least.

How was Season 2 while marathoning? I found it doesn't seem to drag as much when binging

It was good. I don't dislike season two, though.

I previously watched Season 1 and part of Season 2 after getting them from a friend, but I got sidetracked with something else then couldn't watch it because someone was sleeping in the room with the computer.

So if Fear The Walking Dead can end up being the Highest-Rated First Season In Cable History. then The Walking Dead S6 premiere is pretty much guaranteed to top the show's previous ratings records, right?
every year I think it peaked and then I'm wrong so I'm saying yes this time!

I'll ask again: will you be able to watch the newest episodes on the AMC website without any cable subscription?
first episode I would think so, not sure about the rest.

I think you do need cable access to log online to view them.

Hmm, last episode of Season 5 is still available without log-in. Only 1 day left, though. It worked a few days ago for me (with a proxy).

Fear The Walking Dead on the other hand needs a log-in. Maybe after a few weeks/months you can watch it without one, too?
I hope I won't have to wait until October next year for Season 6 to come to Netflix in Germany :/

It took a few seasons but I'm attached to most of the group at this point, so it's going to suck if/when anyone dies. Luckily, like The Farm and Prison there are a number of redshirts in Alexandria to serve as Walker(and Wolf) fodder.

I have faith that Morgan will overcome the 'Quota' at least for season or two. C L E A R

He'd better. Lennie James is a great actor - I hope now he's a regular they make the most of it.

In Sweden season six won't start until October 18. Not that long to wait, but it would be nice to see the first episode of the new season as it happens.

Indeed. He's crushed it in all of his appearances. Can't wait to see Destiny Hunter Morgan and Shaven Psycho Survivor Rick wreck shop together.

Not a comic reader either, Just going off what happened to T-dogg, Oscar, Bob, Tyrese, Noah, and Shumpert,

But yeah. Asshole Priest needs to die slowly, turn, and die again.

Teaser from EW, hints at something that happens in the premier, not huge spoilers:

Anything on Walking Dead? — Stannis
The group bands together to do something pretty epic in the premiere — and it all has to do with how Alexandria is still standing. Visually, it’s probably one of the coolest things I’ve seen on the show thus far. On a smaller scale, Rick has a very interesting reaction to Morgan’s return.

I give Asshole Priest the highest odds of circumventing "the quota"... higher than both Morgan and Strand.

Hope I'm wrong.
