Probably because if they showed the saturn version, casuals would think "a saturn game. Fuck that"Why are they using footage from the inferior PlayStation version?
Yeah, I have heard nothing but praise for this game. Haven't gotten around to playing it yet, myself, but I plan to (seems I might as well pick up this new version. I'm hoping it's available on GOG). Lobotomy were wizards with the Saturn hardware and most consider that the best version gameplay-wise (there's a lot of structural differences between the three versions on PS1, Saturn, and PC, but PS1 & Saturn have more in common than either do with the PC one).Already have Kaisers unofficial port but I'm all over this.
Exhumed was every bit as good if not better than everything that wasn't called Doom back in the 90's, it really is a brilliant game.

However, Lobotomy also compromised the game in many ways, most notably in pared back geometry, and even smaller environments. The levels on PlayStation are still well designed and interesting to explore but the experience feels more claustrophobic and confined overall. Other changes also impact the quality of the experience. For example, Sony's analogue Dual Shock controller released in the month's after PowerSlave's debut, meaning digital-only inputs for the title - a profound cutback compared to the Saturn game.
Same with Duke nukem 3d too (as in superior version)Completely wrong. The Saturn had better levels that had to be redesigned for the PSX, and the Saturn had gameplay elements (power ups) that weren't in the PlayStation version. It also ran better.

Kind of "Taking the rough with the smooth"Well the trailer says it'll combine the Saturn and PSX versions. So this will be the definitive one.
Impressive. Should of had them work on the Doom port on Saturn too *sigh*On the Saturn they used 2 CPUs to render the walls and then the rest of the system for everything else. Even Am2 was like "The fuck...?"
To be fair to rage software, John Carmack was the problem we should have had 60 fps doom on the saturn, but apparently Carmack thought affinity texture warping was worse than 13 fpsImpressive. Should of had them work on the Doom port on Saturn too *sigh*
Yeah, this looks like one of those cases where improving the problems of the original irons flat some of its old charm; the chunky framerate could make the sprite characters seem creepy, and the grainy texture display really gave the lighting effects stark contrast and dimensionality. It's a rare case where "better" isn't better because some of the technical deficiencies played into the highs of the original experience.Exhumed is a total masterpiece but this version looks like crap. Light effects from the original have been toned DOWN.
The PS version as a base is a terrible decision to begin with.
Bad bad bad.
This reminds me of the Grandia HD Collection. They said they were using stuff from the PS and Saturn versions. But it turned out to be PS only (as far as I could see)Why are they using footage from the inferior PlayStation version?
