“Powerslave Exhumed” Officially Announced

Took me 5 hours 59 minutes and 26 seconds. Need to go back and get the Canyons of Chaos and Amun Mines radio pieces and finish it again so I guess maybe 20-30 minutes more. I'll probably replay it in the future on harder difficulties but I'll be good for a while. Great game, it still feels fresh and modern. The last levels are brief and/or I broke one of them with bomb jumps, I don't know what I was doing yet got to the camel before unlocking all the doors. They don't have radio pieces to care to go back properly. Now I'll pine for the sequel that was being planned and we never got :pie_lcry:
Just to have something on topic on the new page. I just noticed that in the last trailer they have Karnak in an old/new graphics comparison and it's Karnak as it was in Powerslave EX, 1:1 with the PS version, just higher resolution, yet it's been changed to Saturn layout and graphics as said before.
Nobody is gonna touch the original Shadow Warrior in this day and age. It's basically Asian Tropes and Stereotypes: The Game.
It was re-released the same year as the PS4 & Xbox One launched, this gen basically. Along with other versions previously on the same modern PC stores, Steam, gog & others, but Redux is an actual sourceport while the others are on DOSBox (and probably can be played with fan source ports).

They don't really go very in-depth, all things I noticed and mentioned here before hoping they'd delve into it much more when they got around to it. Also they don't mention the minor issues present here and there, water edges having artifacts, some wonky physics when it comes to getting out of the water or falling/fitting through certain gaps being inconsistent, also the behaviour of the eagles is kinda off and there's a visual glitch that so far for me always manifests in a specific place that everyone most likely gets to early on that's also not mentioned. They kinda overplay the issues of Powerslave EX too (without really mentioning them when making the previous video). This is still the definitive version going by its Saturn focused base, they shouldn't add incorrect things about the unofficial version just to slander it vs the official thing. Oh well. Great game, good video still 🤷‍♂️

I only played the PC demo, at a friends house, way back then. And although it was fun, never gave it much thought. Only recently found there are 3 different versions.
After seeing some reviews, I got curious about this remake.
Right now, I have too big of a backlog, but I will probably pick it up later.

I've voiced my distaste about this remaster many times in the past.
Maybe i judget it too harshily.

If they get around patching the weird behaviour and then doing a physical version, i might get it.
I trust John from Digital Foundry, he has great taste and great eye on retro games. So if he says it is good, i'm inclined to trust him.

Just finished this. Quite enjoyed it. Only one level pissed me off (underwater predominantly) but decent enough.
