007 First Light - Reviews Thread

Skillup's review was concerning - only 2-3 hours total of action/combat. Definitely waiting on impressions.
I mean depends if you can turn every stealth moment into an action moment or if you have fail state for going out of stealth.

So in theory every sandboxe area could be action or stealth depend on what you chose.

It all depend on how strict the mission design is, in hitman you could decide to just kill everyone and be done with it but if this is more cinematic, maybe you have more forced stealth segments.

Only done the first mission and basic training but this game is amazing so far. Really polished, the "basic training" mission was fucking awesome, really good cinematic presentation, slick and satisfying melee combat and smooth controls. Im gonna love this

In that same review, he talks about how it's extremely rare that the game ever punishes you for initiating combat. Like you said, combat IS the fail state on stealth segments.

Hoping for the best here as huge bond and uncharted series fan, dont trust most of reviewers, especially big outlets with known terrible record but still im cautiosly optimistic, more than before 4sure :messenger_smiling_hearts:

Got this preordered already so I'm really happy to see it's another great title to play as I expected.
I've also just finished Saros so I'll immediately jump into this.

Two details I've noticed about the generic gameplay.

The handmaiden doesn't even have peripheral vision; she's looking right where Bond is walking and doesn't even notice him.

And what bothers me most is how Bond closes doors with the Force.

He doesn't touch the doorknob at any point; he simply puts his hand near it and the door closes.

These are details that, even in 2026, are starting to make me tired of lazy developers.

Is the doorknob in the room with us right now?

wouldn't F Doll be the other way around where the woke would just say she is just a sex object.

They would and I would laugh at them. Just like I'm sure the youtube dwellers will call this woke if she ever fucking punch a dude in those 15+ hours and I would laugh too

No ray tracing on the left ass cheek. Slop confirmed.

Path tracing ass cheeks will be worth the wait

A combination of Hitman and Uncharted, what's not to like? People were way too pessimistic about the game, the developer deserved at least the benefit of the doubt.
Some people just don't want to see an Uncharted type of game on others platforms… The game looks fenomenal.

The most important thing I need to know: is this another woke piece of shit? From the director's comments, I'm not super hyped that it'll have a good plot.

Very surprised it's scored that high. But good on the dev.

Watching those trailers it looked like a budget game resembling Uncharted more than James Bond.

It's closer to Arkham Asylum than it is to Uncharted, mechanically. It's a game that in my view, is more than the sum of its parts. If the game holds up as it has for the first four hours I've played so far, it definitely deserves the scores.

I do like uncharted, but I couldn't understand Hitman.

I do miss the Goldeneye/Perfect Dark type games, which was a good blend of stealth and combat (depending on difficulty) but I guess that's way too old for modern gaming now.

I think they just said they where starting pre production on another hitman.
I think this game was greenlit under the MGM/Broccoli regime. Amazon still haven't publicly announced the next Bond, never mind getting a movie out. I don't know if Amazon wants the games to overshadow the movie franchise. It makes sense for now that IO is back to Hitman.

These reviews can fuck right off

There's absolutely no way these reviews are genuine. I just watched four hours of gameplay and the game looks dreadful.

Sloppy animations, janky NPC movement, jank combat that genuinely looks like something from a PS2 era title.

It feels like more effort went into ticking diversity boxes than actually creating compelling gameplay, characters or world design. Everything feels overly sanitised and generic.

How can The last of us 2 have such next level animations and combat and 007 with more than likely 3x the budget looks so shit?

Complete garbage 🗑️

This is 007 for the modern audience. I'm not falling for the glaze again.

I'm not seeing any of this. Combat animations are awful. Cinematic presentation is shit when half of the animations look straight out of True Crime on PS2.

I'd recommend to wait a month once the glaze phase has settled.

Everyone playing the game rates it very highly so far myself included. I'd give it an 8 (so far).

Can we fuck right off as well?

I sincerely doubt 007 had higher budget than tlou2, it is probably the opposite.

Jesus! - I feel sorry for you. Watching hours of gameplay. Ive never understood it.

I remember someone linking me footage of Death Stranding and I watched like 10 minutes and some cutscenes and thought that game was trash until I played it. Many will tell me its trash but I think its a great chill game.

This is a solid 9.5 for me after 4 hours. Someone tricked you into thinking a cinematic game with amazing animation is better than how a game feels to play.

You say Last of us 2 which has been proven to be a completely unsustainable game from Sony. Even Shu admitted it. There is no way this game had a higher budget than that torture porn fest.

Moneypenny is black, his mentor is black and his boss is an Asian woman. This is a 10-15 point boost for the Metacritic right off the bat.

Once you adjust for that, mid-high 70s looks about right for the game itself imo.

I'm kinda interested in that game. How are the woke/DEI levels? Same-sex or trans characters? Overrepresentation of PoC? Super strong girlbosses that know everythink better and are stronger than an army of 500 men? Anything else in that direction?

P.S.
If one of the following apply to you, please don't waste your and my time answering, because your answer won't be helpful:
  • you think the option in a game to be able to choose more than 2 genders are no big deal
  • you think bodytype A or B is no big deal
  • you are convinced all games are political to the point that you have to repeat it online more than once a year
  • you are vegan
  • you have a wooden folding chair in the corner of your bedroom

The opening of this game is kind of rough. Bond seems to be the only white guy in Britain working in the govt - just surrounded by women and minorities bossing him around and beating him in training and whatever else. I guess that's true to life though lol. But it adds a kind of somber note of realism. This game is really concerned with being diverse. Usually when a game stars a white guy they unfortunately feel the need to compensate.

Okay, just what I needed to know to skip the game. Thanks.

So far :
M is indian, Bond's mentor is Black, Moneypenny is half-black (But it is central london so this isn't beyond the realms of possibility) No trannies and no girl-bosses, there's lady spies etc but they don't act superior to Bond or anything like that.

His best mate, friendly competition is white and his girl who is a friend is a hot white girl.

I don't understand any of what you've written.
