12h Skyrim Marathron on Giant Bomb 11.10.11 (hosted by Greg Kasavin)

The game looks way better than Fallout / Oblivion. The improved graphics do a ton for the atmosphere, there's a lot less janky stuff (although there still is some) to take you out of the experience.

Chat box is useless, bunch of arguing about useless garbage. Guess I'll hide it off the edge of my screen.

Spiders were pretty epic though, he cheesed the shit out of that boss.

I watched a little bit but don't want to get spoiled. Still, would be interesting to watch, but hopefully they have this on their site later so I can watch it after I dive into the game myself.

He's mainly fighting random monsters. Not much story stuff.

Can someone clarify this for me.

Is he playing on easy? If not WTF.
Are Strength, Speed, Intelligence, Endurance, Luck etc... Replaced with Health, Endurance and Magicka. Its all i could see when he levelled up.

Games looking like a casual button bashing experience from this live stream.

You probably missed when he died a few times and when he ran away from some trolls.

When he went into the options in the beginning the difficulty was set to adept, but I haven't seen him change the difficulty so I guess that's what it defaults to.

i will bring the stream back up at 12:01 and Bethesduuurrrs request, to play nice. Although to be honest, I would much rather stream a superior game like Dark Souls or Batman AC. I'll leave it up to you guys. See you then.

This shit is so damn ugly on 360, son.

No i saw it. But i've also seen him tear through bandits with 1 hit. Whats the point of them even asking for the gold when anyone could kill them?

Gotta mix the easy with the hard. :D

Have you levelled up in an Elder Scrolls game before? You don't select which skills to upgrade from a menu; skills gain levels through use. Once you level up enough of them, your character gains a level him/herself.

If I remember correctly, in Morrowind you didn't get to choose ANYTHING to increase at a menu; your health/magicka etc just went up on their own according to the level you hit.

This isn't Fallout; there is no SPECIAL system or a pool of points to pour into skills. Well, until mods, that is.

No he tore through unarmored bandits with one hit, those two with armor and shields kicked his ass a couple of times.

I don't see the issue. Seems appropriate for slashing a giant two handed sword at some woman in rags. The bandits with armour and shields put up more of a fight.

Yes, it appears you haven't. You used your skills which correlated to an Attribute, so Long Blade was related to Strength. This would allow you to level Strength at Level up, you could even level up a stat x5 if you were awesome enough.

Hes playing on normal, which is super easy, just like every other game this gen, you pretty much have to play on very hard.

Been watching this since he started playing (tuned right in as Jeff stopped speaking, which was disappointing). Really good so far.

I was Greg would join GiantBomb. He's such a good reviewer, but seems like he is done with that.

Nooooo. Bethesda suck with difficulty sliders. Even rats killed you in Oblivion if you moved the slider! Dark Souls really spoiled me this gen!

Um... I'm thinking you are just forgetting how leveling worked in Oblivion/Morrowind.

The stream quality is pretty terrible. Blocky artifacts all over my screen, even at "720p+".
They tend to lower the quality for free streams. The premium only streams look way better.

The guy just made one of the best games of the year. He'd be wasted at Giant Bomb.

I've never played an Elder Scrolls game or really paid attention to them, so forgive me for asking, but: is there a goal to the game? He seems to be wandering around an open world. Is there a story?

Open world RPG. There's a main story but it has a ton of sidequests as well.

Theres a story but the fun is wandering around the world doing random stuff. Its boring to watch but really fun to play.

I feel the exact opposite, provided the person playing it is interesting.
