12h Skyrim Marathron on Giant Bomb 11.10.11 (hosted by Greg Kasavin)

most stressful part of this stream must be having a camera pointed at your face for 12 hours straight - having to keep the face presentable nonstop for so long. no scratching.

“it wasn’t a pick! it was a scratch!"

oh and I looooove these perks trees. the UI is beautiful with the nebulae in the background.

I doubt people would hardly care if the odd thing happened.

And despite not being hyped, something has triggered and now I'm feeling as excited for this as I was for (and during) Oblivion.

What just happened is why I'm done with Bethesda games.

- Accidentally hit woman as she's inexplicably standing in the middle of a fight event where a supposedly fearsome warrior's fight technique consists of swinging his fists randomly no matter how far away you are from him.
- Pay her money so she forgets
- Go into a cellar.
- Come out and she's angry again but then suddenly lapses into her stock phases about the village politics.

-_-

...soundtrack is nice.

Not really liking that you can run and swim through all of this without actually feeling the effects of being cold

I was going to say the same thing.
It is the little things that could make this even better.

He is Dragonborn

Ooooh then ice breath and ice magic of any kind will not harm him at all?
Very cool.
Oh wait, it doesn't work that way?
Ah yes lazy design choice it must be then.

Not a deal breaker , but it just sucks to see something like that overlooked.

Is there a quicksave/load option easily accessible on the 360 version? Seeing how long it takes him to get to the save menu is driving me crazy.

The character doesn't shit either, but you don't see me complaining.

Have you taken a look at the environment you're in? Temperatures are constantly deathly low. Do you want the character model to randomly shiver? :P

She actually hit Greg when he walked past her as she was practicing on the dummy. After she hit him she promptly asked him whether he was ready to throw down again. lol.

Uhhh, you mean like gradual hypothermia?

Or maybe some harsh muscle spasms? What could they possibly add to make swimming in cold water more "immersive" :|.

I guess this is a real question, so I will grab it.
Many rpgs in the past have had you lose health the longer you were in extreme conditions.
It made you be more careful and have to think a bit more about how you get from point A to point B.

I bet you can get a mod that does that on the PC version within a month.

Have the GB guys been involved in this at all? I kind of assumed they would be talking with Greg while he plays. Listening to him mutter to himself for 12 hours seems pretty weird.

You're often in extreme conditions given the game's setting. They'd need some mechanic like in Lost Planet to make it meaningful at all, and that would be terrible for this sort of game. Just play as a Nord if it really impacts immersion that much for you. :>

Completely solo. That's the magic.

According to Jeff, Bethesda hasn't sent out any PS3 versions. Do any of you know how it compares to the 360 edition?

I have both consoles, but usually prefer the PS3 controller for these games.

EDIT:

Maybe I should be asking this in the OT, sorry!

It's a little immersion breaking, but it's clearly a design decision. They want the game to be pretty accessible to the mainstream audience and make it easy to explore.

It's also the reason enemies level scale, you can buy off crimes with a fine etc.

Normal. He couldnt kill the trolls tho.

IMO he could have easily killed the trolls by just playing slightly more careful, and kiting them a bit. So far he mammoths and giants seem like the only thing he couln't beat with a very basic "walk backwards while swinging wildly" tactic.
But then again I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to die all that much on normal.

I stopped watching for a bit when the power went out. Nearly 4 hours later and he's still using the same sword!

Game looks fantastic by the way. Just the details, and a better environment (cold north) compared to Oblivion really makes me want to play it, when I only managed to play Oblivion for a few hours.

If I can get a deal on the next week or two for $40, I'll definitely pick it up, otherwise I'll have to wait as I'm a bit strapped for cash. Probably end up buying it twice as I don't have a PC to run it now either, and I know I'd want mods later on.

Is he the guy who pretty much shit his pants playing Amnesia on stream

Nah, he did play it but wasn't as scared as some other folks I have seen stream it.

All the same, he has been told not to stream anymore by someone... was using an Australian steam account to play (he's canadian, i think).. dunno

Games Kasavin is fine by me!!
