Surface of Me
I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.

Holy shit really? Looks so good and is open world.

Is this one aspect of what people mean when discussing 'yields' ?Because it would be Wasteful, Let's say they only accept 2 Ghz chips, 90% of these work at 2 Ghz, 5% fail between 1.75 and 2Ghz and 5% fail below 1.75 Ghz.
Producing only 2Ghz+ chips would mean a 10% failure rate so to get 100 million APU's they'd need to make 111Million APU's in the first place, but if they settle for 1.75Ghz chips then they only have a 5% failure rate and only need to produce 105.5 million or so chips.
Producing at 2Ghz would mean they would need to produce an extra 5.5 million chips at a cost of around $80-$100 Dollars, If we would assume the Price is lowered throughout the generation we can say about $50 dollars per chip.
This would cost them $275 million Dollars. and it's likely the average cost of a chip will e above $50 by looking at the size of the XB1 APU.
It's all irrelevant. Even if they had that slight increase in power, who's to say they wouldn't go with a lower framerate? It still boils down to developer choice. For all we know they would use that extra oomph to further enhance visual fidelity/add more effects.
I think that poster meant 1080@60fps without major sacrifices and balances between performance and gfx. Ya know?
Edit: or in other words: 'first-world problems' of game development for consoles.
Why the fuck is MS near randomly changing their specs around so close to launch?
"Oh hey, um - check it out, we've added another, like...micro chip and a transistor and stuff...to our um, console. We've also added more clouds in our ... cloud. Pre-order please."
Oh man.
Just no, flash ram =/= ssd.
Link? Shadow Fall MP being 1080/60 already blew my mind. If Infamous SS is as well..I have no words...
That's why if the console was bigger, it would not be a problem. And 15% increase goes a long way in highly optimized gaming console.Honestly I'll go for the cooler running system over just a small 10 to 15% overclock increase with tons of extra heat.
You're going to have compromises the rest of this gen, and next too. If 30fps is not enough than console gaming is not for you.

umm what do you think a ssd is made of ?
This news sort of makes me doubt CBOAT regarding yield issues.
Seems unlikely that you'd upclock GPU and CPU and at the same time have yield issues.
But who knows, if they come out and have supply problems, it would seem like they're sacrificing supply for marginal performance boosts.
I wonder what the chances are now for a PS4 upclock. They haven't revealed the CPU clock yet. The GPU is reasonably powerful but the CPU is a tad underwhelming. Would like to see it get any boost it can.

Can't make posts yet, but found this interesting:

Could November 5th be the release date?
Maybe similar tech, but the flash ram in the XB1 is not an ssd drive.

Wait. Xbox One has a 500gb ssd?its 10% and it already has a ssd ....
SSDs have controllers and dozens of nand chips which give it the speed becuase it can write to many at the same time.
I have a garage with 4 tyres in, I have a car with 4 tyres on. My garage is not a car.

It depends on the genre. Action games and racing should be 60 fps. I also would not mind if games became 30fps in the future where it's the only way to get to next level graphics passed launch. I wanted to have good graphics at 60 for launch and then later in the system's lifecycle have something like the sorcerer demo which looks like pure Cgi and running at 30 fps. That would be ideal. Anyways, I still consider ps4 good enough, just wanted to mention how easy it would be to boost it without worries if the casing was bigger. It would have been effortless.
lol SS being 60 fps would be really amazing. Hard to believe....Anyways, I'm happy that Microsoft got a decent boost on the cpu. Now I can worry less about the quality of multiplats. They actually have a better cpu then ps4 but ps4 has unified memory to better use the cpu so it will be interesting.

its the same thing .. all those things are there just on the board.
macbooks do the same thing.
this is getting crazy.
its the same thing.. if they would have put a actual separate incased 8 gig ssd it would be the exact same thing.
:/

Ok, Infamous. We sat in a theater and watched a live playthrough of the E3 demo, so nothing new in terms of content. The framerate is a vsync'd variable 60/30, though the majority of the time it was 60. Immaculate image quality, far better than the issues I saw with Killzone.
This is the PS4 game to get.

When Digital Foundry analysed it at E3 they said it was struggling maintaining 30fps with regular drops to 20fps. That would be some optimisation if true..
Yes, here's an impression from Grizz:
So, it does have some drops here and there (at least with the E3 build he saw), but those will probably be ironed out by the time the game is ready.
Not.Even.Close.
Go benchmark a thumb drive or low end SD card, then a real SSD hard drive. They are based on similar tech, but an order of magnitude different. The Vita and 12GB PS3 have flash storage, both use slower than dog shit memory.

Anyone else confirm that? I find it hard to believe. As an open world game Infamous SS looks far too good to be 1080/60. Then again KZ SF MP is that, and supposedly DriveClub is still targeting 1080/60 so you never know...

The frame-rate is very consistent too, and there's no obvious pop-in on the horizon when bounding across rooftops. 30FPS may be the target, but it's easy to believe the game's running at double that given how travel and effects-heavy explosions scarcely drop frames - a testament to just how much visual fluidity is improved by operating at a locked frame-rate.

its not a thumb drive.. its not going through usb. its on board nand memory.
guess we will have to wait and see if the specs come up. I wont claim to know its speeds. All i know is it is there.
Wii U flash memory is the orange square (speeds of around 30MB/s or so IIRC)
Yes, it's an onboard nand memory, but it isn't an SSD drive.its not a thumb drive.. its not going through usb. its on board nand memory.

where in the sweet sam hell has inFamous been confirmed @ 1080/60!?
Right? That is the question of the hour currently.

You know, show us sources that say an onboard nand memory is equal to an SSD drive. Prove us wrong.
You can mistake a resolution if the image is sharp enough and constantly in motion, you can't mistake the fluidness of 60fps to 20fps by eye.Digital Foundry said Killer Instinct was 1080p too. I don't trust their measurements done by eye at all.
