1990's Cartoon Survivor (Do-Over)

I realized something about two remaining Disney shows... they're Disney Batmans.

I'm not saying both should be dead by now or go next... but we should consider these things.
I noticed this while people were systematically voting off every other Disney show.
Given how untouchable the comic book superhero shows appear to be to the NeoGAF demographic, this seems to be a logical conclusion, that Disney Batman would be the last standing of Disney.

Honestly, we can cut one of the actual Batman shows before hitting the Disney ones.

I don't think it's a top 10 show.

For me it's a top 10 but I've also accepted that many kids didn't like how complicated the plots got and that there were a loooooot of characters to keep up with. Top 10 on action though.... lots of lasers, explosions, and disemboweled robots.

i think ducktales will outlast gargoyles.

also, i would get rid of pretty much every other super hero aside from btas before going after gargoyles. i didn't care for batman beyond. felt like it was trying too hard to be cool.

Swat Kats' was worse.

Watching the first couple episodes, Gargoyles holds up extremely well. It's better than Beavis and Butt-Head or Johnny Bravo for sure.
i'm gonna push for X-Men to get cut in the next few rounds, that show has not aged very well at all and frankly it pales in comparison to the DC shows. at the very least it needs to go before Gargoyles does.
False. When I watched it a year or two ago it held up very well.

Results for Round 20!
Johnny Bravo, The comeback of a lifetime or not. Who Knows?

Without further ado,
The two shows voted out this round were valiant competitors. Alas they must go.
Those two shows were:

Obligatory Google Doc.

Good Luck!

If X-Men made top 15 I'd be happy. I agree it's not perfect, but some of the writing was great and I loved the characters and continuity.

Cutting tmnt would count as a comic book/superhero show to me. What about you guys?

Also, I just turned 27.

hey happy birthday!

Thanks!

Kill TMNT
Kill Darkwing Duck
Save Beavis and Butthead

Darkwing was cool, but it's a bit too obviously cash grabbing to be top twenty and outlast some of the other Disney and superhero shows we have left. TMNT almost went last time for good reason, so let's give it this solid top 24 spot amongst quality shows.

I mean, Darkwing Duck is JUST a Duck Batman. C'mon.

I just turned 19 back on December the 27th.

Kill: Beavis and Butthead
Kill: Beavis and Butthead
Save: Arnold

Darkwing Duck got almost no kills and saves enough to offset them, so there's no point. TMNT is going down in flames. Only one thing left to vote for.

Kill: Darkwing Duck- There can only be one duck left in this competition and its the one with the awesome theme song.
Kill: TMNT doesn't age well.

Save: Courage. Timeless.

False. When I watched it a year or two ago it held up very well.

a huge amount of the dialogue in that show is damn cringe-worthy.

obviously there's no room in the true top 15:

Spongebob Squarepants
Rocko's Modern Life
Hey Arnold
Rugrats
Dexter's Laboratory
The Powerpuff Girls
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Animaniacs
Batman: The Animated Series
Gargoyles
The Simpsons
South Park
Superman: The Animated Series
Batman Beyond
either Dragon Ball Z or DuckTales

also happy birthday

KIll: TMNT

Save Reboot

Kill: Darkwing Duck
Kill: Darkwing Duck
Save:Reboot (Edited)

Courage had some pretty great episodes that are still entertaining to watch however creepy they may be. Especially the naughty barber episode hahaha.

Though let me just say I'm definitely not attached to it. I'm only saving it because It's the only one being killed right now that throw a save out for. Will probably change promptly.

Edit: That was fast, someone went straight for the Reboot....

That list isn't half bad... but 90s South Park could go, if you ask me.

Kill: TMNT
Kill: TMNT
Save: Beavis & Butthead

I stated before why I wanted to vote off TMNT (because I never saw it), and I loved Beavis and Butthead. So I gotta save them, especially since they're getting closer and closer to getting voted off.

part of the appeal to (early) spongebob is that the show is in on the joke. it's kind of a satire of overly friendly kids cartoons because almost no one can stand spongebob's approach to life.

If Spongebob was going to be Top 15, I'd hope it's 15. I never liked it at all.

For me, it just doesn't fit anywhere with the rest of 90's cartoons. I keep forgetting it's on the list as in my mind it's a show from the new millennium... I'd vote it off next round maybe.

Spongebob (the character) drives me insane. I know that's the point and that him grating on sane people and society in general is the joke, but fuuuuuuuuckkkkkkkk.

Have you gone back and watched any of the original episodes. That show holds up extremely well. Love it. Will fight for it until it dies.

My sister used to hog the living room TV to watch it. I found it to be mind numbing. You couldn't get away, because even if you went to another room....this was bouncing off the walls.

yeah i can understand that. there's no one to really grab onto in spongebob. you're supposed to at least understand where rocko's coming from in rocko's modern life. after the first season, all the side characters get a lot more screen time and it's kinda him reacting to those people going nuts.

Kill: Beavis and Butthead
Kill: Beavis and Butthead

I never got the humor in this show, quit mumbling and whiny laughing also drove me crazy. Also the art style was terrible.

Save: Reboot

16 saves last round for this show, I'm proud of you guys!

I found it charming. Fits the era. Phoenix arc was also handled very well.

Kill: Beavis and Butt-Head - This show is shit. Shame on you GAF for killing Daria before it.
Kill: Beavis and Butt-Head - See above.

Save: TMNT - Huge part of my childhood, even if it doesn't hold up.

I was really surprised by that save count as well.

Kill: TMNT- Since no one else wants to kill X-Men, TMNT gets my kills. Like X-Men, the animation just doesn't hold up, and the best part of both are the openings.
Kill: TMNT-I totally copied this from last night
Save: Courage- It's so good. Everyone remembers "You're not perfect." Also Ramses. Maybe a lot of people remember Katz. Or the Chicken from Outer Space. But everyone should also remember Fred.

If you vote to kill Courage, you've been very... naughty.

Too many reboot saves man, you should just double kill Beavis.

Yeah Reboot probably isn't going anywhere today unless those 16 people don't show up. I don't really get it since the show was kind of a flop in the US, but maybe there's a large Canadian contingent?

I liked it and I watched until at least the third season but it always seemed like that show that sort of just came back for a bit and then went away again with no fanfare.

It was huge in Canada. Much beloved here. I don't think I know anyone that didn't watch it when they were a kid. As far as I'm concerned, it's a top 10 show for the decade

season 3 was on toonami about the same time dbz was getting big. season 3 was a lot more action-packed (and a lot better from what i remember).

seasons 1 and 2 were games of the week with some meh parodies. season 3 was a pretty neat action show.

Season 3 was great. Enzo the badass, Bob who you really couldn't trust was really Bob (if memory serves), and the crazy mask lady. I remember Season 1 being like....Bob and Enzo getting into hijinks. I couldn't tell you what Season 2 was.

season 2 was something of a bridge. it ended with bob and megabyte dead, but it also introduced enzo's love interest. i don't know when the australian guy came in.

i remember occasionally watching s1+2 on abc when i was a kid. it was on in the mid-90s. i watched everything regarding season 3 though. that was the shit. never saw 'season 4' because by the time i had the opportunity, i was aware that it ended on an unresolved cliffhanger... or a real downer ending depending how you view it.

Honestly I'm very surprised myself. I figured SWAT Kats would have put up this fight, but not Reboot. The pop culture references are even better now that I'm older though, and since I'm an IT guy the computer references also pretty awesome to me. I liked the show as a child because the games they played for their lives was awesome, the Season 3 plot was great, and the characters had vibrant personalities (especially hexadecimal, the bipolar super powerful virus and sister to megabyte), but now that I'm an adult the references mean a lot more to me and I also realize the amazingly creative world that show crafted.

i never even heard of swat kats before this thread.

holy shit kablam was voted off before doug? what the hell, everyone.

Yeah I've never heard of SWAT KAT either. Or Kablam for that matter

American exclusive by Hanna Barbara that had amazing action and pretty interesting characters and villains. Started in 93, became the top rated in 94, but was killed because Ted Turner didn't like how violent it was.
