1up Yours- October 26, 2007

Actually, we only get "credit" for the numbers that use the podtrac link.

I honestly thought we had corrected the redirect syntax so that it would work. If anyone knows what we have wrong hit me and I'll see to getting it fixed.

Judging by Shane's Endless Ocean comments, I can't see him liking Afrika.

Garnett, did you ever play through Ep. 2? I'd love to hear some talk on it, but I know none of the other guys on the podcast will play it. :(

Afrika could be pokemon snap. This is a petting game.

Is there a significant gameplay difference between looking at a fish and petting it and looking at an animal and taking a picture? (not trying to be snarky- didn't play pokemon snap so maybe I'm missing something).

you are missing a whole lot, Pokemon Snap was an awesome game, some parts of why it is so awesome is hard to describe.

Shouldn't the question be is there anything similar? Photography simulation and petting animals are completely different concepts. Look at how many people use the photo modes in games.

I used to think more PC talk on 1upYours would be good but GFW is such a better show at this point I would prefer to keep all that discussion in their hands. 1upYours Pc talk is the equivalent of 4 Shanes discussing Halo or any other prolific 360 title.

However Jeff is the fucking man, so x2 to Green for 4th chair.

Milky is so wrong, Yanya Caballista was awesome.

and the thumb board wouldent work for Skate as Yanya Caballista needed you to hold the controller side ways. and cover both analog sticks.

What the eff is Shane talking about? Sin & Punishment didn't come out in 98, it's not 9 years old.

It came out late 2000.

I want Jeff to fondle my flounder.

Edit: Oh crap, I totally forgot Contra 4 is coming out soon!

Edit2: Are they ever going to make that Fallout demo available to the public? I'd love to see it. And WTF at Shane complimenting limited scope and less things to do. Sure, I like having a "focused" path available, but I see nothing wrong with expanding that outward by a large amount and creating non-linear experiences for those who want it.

Someone tell me I'm not crazy here:

"Whatcha been playin?" goes on for over an hour.

And after the 2:39:04 mark, the Hellgate discussion sounds like it's still going. But Garnett gets cut off.

Where's the news? And how f'n long did you guys record, Skip? :lol

EDIT - Let me elaborate: In my iTunes, the total podcast length shows up as 2:39:04, but Whatcha Been Playin' doesn't end until the 2:13:30 mark. o_O

I agree. Fallout sounds hot, but I LOVE the expansive non-linear experience of Morrowind and Oblivion. However, by narrowing things down a bit... I think that it's possible they could get more quality out of it. I guess we will have to wait and find out.

I actually kind of like the loooong talk about actually playing games. My blood pressure can drop this Friday from the lack of 1UP Yours drama. :lol

Me too. But I'm pretty sure I'm missing the second half of the podcast.

The seconds are going by on the counter normally.

So... you guys really did talk about what you've been playing for over 2 hours. :lol

No, seriously, where's the rest of the show?

Damn this 1UP Yours is boring as hell, I'm almost falling asleep listening to it.

I think I'm going to listen to Wii-k in Review instead for this week.

A little OT but can someone please do me a solid and explain the hierarchy at game sites/mags.

Things like: Man. Editor > Ed. Director > Ex. Editor etc etc. (this could be wrong I know)

Any takers?

I thought Roper was the most interesting guy on the show this week and I'll probably never play Hellgate.

Im pretty sure Managing Editor > Ex. Editor.

???

In the United States, a managing editor oversees and coordinates the publication's editorial activities. The position is generally the second highest in rank, after the editor-in-chief (also called the executive editor.)

....lol, that was rather useful

Wait. These guys don't like the Warcraft art style? Utter fail; WC3 still holds up perfectly today in the visuals because of the WC series' art style.
