I am currently using a Asus P4GE-VM mobo. According to the specs, it supports hyper-threading compatible CPUs with 400/533 Mhz bus speeds. If I was to plug in a CPU designed for 800 MHz, would it operate at 533 Mhz or would it simply fail to start at all?

I have the chance to pop one of these in my machine, but I'm not really certain as to whether or not it will work.

Any ideas?

I'd think the 2.8 will end up running at 1.8 @533.

Actually if you make the FSB speed slower it usually has to underclock the CPU... that's how it is with AMD CPU's anyway.
