qUESTION-- why is damon wearing an astros hat in that picture? what was he celebrating with them?

Oh, and A-Rod and Matsui let me down today. Big time. I'm pissed beyond belief, and I'm probably gonna be pissed for a real long while. Fuck money. Give me the heart of Jeter, Crosby, Small, Chicon, Posada, Rivera--- all the players that actually PLAYED this series.

alex rodriguez single handedly cost the yankees this series. it's that simple. his performance was so bad that the backlash might cause torre's firing. what an awul performance...

Oh, come on. Matsui was worse than he was.

.

aNSWER--Because Johnny Damon likes to party hard.

and have fun paying him $12 million a year for the next 5 years (3 of which will have him hobbling around in the outfield, Bernie style), yankee fans! :lol

And nearly everyone here slept on the Angels.

I am astonished at the lack of Angels respect in this thread. The Yankees have been hot, but the Angels have been just as hot. Don't forget to factor in the fact that the Angels own the Yankees, and have home field advantage. I personally think the Angels can go to the World Series.

It's funny, all of the Sox and Yankees fans made homer picks... and all were wrong.

I'll become an Angels fan. We're going to kick your asses and make sure Scott Podsuckdick never gets on base!

Oh yeah?!?! Well Jose Contreras is gonna dominate your lineup as _____ __________ pitches for you tomorrow!

I am now joining the side of the Astros for the remainder of the playoffs.

My username sadly doesn't begin with an "M", but they have Andy Pettitte.

John Kruk making excuses for NY now on ESPN. "They were tired." Boo-fucking-hoo. Like the Angels didn't just fly cross-country as well? Cooome on.

Well the thing about John Kruk is that he's completely worthless.

I'm throwing my weight behind the White Sox. Fucking ugly ass Angels. Christ, they got some pug fugly players. I don't wanna see those mugs all October. Sox better finish this shit in 4 games.

Excellent reason to hate a team.

Ahh, BoSox and Yanks out in the first round? Huzzah!

I can't cheer for the White Sox though, so go Angels I suppose. But damn is Colon one ugly fucker.

Let's go Yankees!!!! oh what? they lost............... oh :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
FUCK THE YANKEES!!

im not gonna post my (now) annual "this team needs a god damn overhaul" rant this year. its a waste of fucking time (since it never fucking happes). there's a real chance torre could be fired and a VERY real chance cashman is gone. i feel bad for cashman because he has held the team together pretty good. he made some really brilliant moves this year and saved the team but at the same time i wouldnt mind something new, and fresh. i'd really miss both but its almost like a necessary evil.

and im hoping for a white sox/astros world series. id like to see both win. it'd be nice to see frank thomas win a championship, i really dont care about stockton and malone in houston but i do wanna see andy and roger win another one.

butttt it would be nice to see jim edmonds and albert pujols win one. as long as the angels dont win i dont care. i hope theyre plane crashes but not at from a height where they all die instantly. its gotta be a crash where they dont die on impact but die from the flames on the ground when theyre all trapped.

Not really.

But spare Chone Figgins.
He should be kept alive so he can be signed by the Yankees. Then, at the press conference, he'll be whisked to a backroom where he'll have his legs broken and his index fingers chopped off.

Then, when he's released into the wild, he can be eaten by Hamburger Curt.

Jeez you Yankee fans are sore losers..........................

I don't think you guys understand the Chi Sox situation. Everyone rooted for the Red Sox last year....our drought is longer than theirs. 88 fucking years.

If they don't at least make it to the series this year, they probably never will while I'm alive.

colon might be out, lackey cant pitch 2 games without being on short rest, the angel bullpen is taxed.....we're in good shape. root for us guys :(

How many years has this been going on? The morning after the Yankees get eliminated, you hear everywhere, "The boss is gonna put the hammer down! Torre's gone! Cashman's gone!", and it doesn't happen. It'll be no different this year.

I'm rooting for the Cardinals. They deserve it more than anyone else for being so consistent over the past few years and dominating in a good division. They should've played better against the Sox last year, but that was really just a freak occurence. What the Astros have done to get into the playoff picture the past two years is pretty impressive, but I'm just sick of the wildcard and have never been a fan of it (you know, except for last year). And the White Sox, yeah it sucks that they haven't won a WS in 88 years, but a tiny fanbase of mostly fairweather fans doesn't exactly equate to them deserving one. This isn't a Red Sox or Cubs story - the team and legacy is just devoid of any character. Except for them throwing the series that year.

Trust me, real White Sox fans hate these fairweather fans. Especially since they don't come from Chicago. Northsiders are northsiders, Southsiders are southsiders. Always.
If you ever hear anyone say they live in Chicago so they love both teams, they're completely full of BULLSHIT. Not real fans.

Yea if the Stros dont make it the WS this year its f-ing over,Bags and Biggio are almost done, the chance of them getting into the WS before they retire is here and now for the 2nd year in a row.

Stros dont make it this year,I might never live to see them reach the WS.

=(

Good job Angels, you deserved it.
No way in hell we were gonna win with a shitty ass offense. No fucking clue what we were doing stranding players left and right; we just did not play good baseball

Oh well.

At least now I have no excuse to do bad on my midterms. =(

But still

pollo am cry =-(

Exactly. The Cards will have their chances... they best player is still young. We gotta win it this year, after this year it's back to a rebuilding mode.

A gracious Yankees fan here? Amazing :)

Hey I'm not exactly crying over the Yankees loss. Afterall these fuckers beat my METS in 2000. So when I see teams bounce them out of a world title it brings back a little bit of justice for me. They had a damn good season overall. But like someone said in a nutshell-their season came down to Bubba Crosby and Shefield colliding. Thats the breaks.

The Yankees will be back as always but its sad to see this team(or any team really) not enjoy just reaching the playoffs and be excited about it. Jeter commented on SportsCenter that the season was a failure because they didn't win it all. Thats just fucking wrong, they should be thankful for their season, look back and see their individual accomplishments, just enjoy the damn thing, but they don't seem to now. But its the Yankees, they make their own pressure, seems like they just don't enjoy the sport as other teams do. I've said it alot of times and I still hold true to it-I'd rather see my team playing and enjoying their success, than to see them looking miserable, feeling a ton of pressure, looking for that spark of excitement once they've made the playoffs.

No true Angels fans here as much as I remember...who am I gonna talk shit to as the ALCS goes on :(

I'm a pretty big Angels fan. I'm just pretty quiet about it. After watching them as losers for 8 years straight meant any big win (making the playoffs, ALDS Champs) was absolutely huge.

Looks like they're going to get exterminated tomorrow. I suspect Chicago will go on to the World Series. Well, at least the Angels beat the Yankees.

its not Arod's fault. If the Yankees were up by 5 runs he would have bombed that one into the upperdeck!
:lol

I see I'm not the only one that picked up on ARod's knack at making blowouts more blowout-y.

A big choking pooch with blue freakin lips... And what the hell happened to Matsui? It was fun to watch nearly every Yankee player step up to the plate and swing for that 12 run homer only to pop up or hit little nubbers.

Either way, the end is the end. Good job Halos, and good luck to you and the White Sox, Astros and Cards.

Exactly. Every Yankee played like Bernie -- too eager to hit a fly ball out to center field.

I firmly believe our entire line-up can be used as slang for jerking off:

"So yeah, my girl was on the rag last night. Hadda Yankee the chicken instead. Fun times."

*Sigh* There is this interminable creep that seems to take root on our team, this particular Yankee team, when the money's on the table. I figure they're thinking: "Well, we got more than enough money already, so fuck it."

Good luck to the Angels: the only team outside of the mid-90's Indians to reach the same neighborhood of Hate usually reserved for anything Red Sox-ian. The difference? I actually respect the Halos. Well, except for Cabrera. He's a little bitch.

Here's hoping they take it all, so at least I can take solace on losing to the best.

Fuck you.

The team has been bringing people to the South Side for over a hundred years. What legacy do the red sox and cubs have. Loud whiny fans that bitch about the futility of their favorite team? Curses, lovable losers? Fuck that. Up until last year we were all in the same boat. It's just that the Cubs with WGN and the Red Sox with being the Yankees mortal enemy have gotten the press.

The only reason that they deserve a shot at one is because they've been playing the best baseball in the American League this year.

So I've gone to sleep, read the newspapers, and am almost fully over this; I'll just need a dose of ESPN (read: Sportscenter, PTI, ATH, Baseball Tonight) and a little Mike and the Mad Dog to seal the deal.

I'm not so upset anymore. I wish we didn't lose - at least not like this - but still, we at least fought to the end, and for that I can't be terribly cross. It was an up and down season...but exciting as fuck, no doubt. Participating in this thread with my rabid Yankee fandom is the reason why I joined this forum to begin with, so I have to say it was worth it. :lol

Anyway, hats off to the Angels. I hate those little fuckers, but they play excellent baseball. The ChiSox should be able to take 'em out, but it won't be easy.

And now, I watch as an impartial observer, awaiting the NBA season thread where I can troll for the Knicks, and the MLB offseason thread so I can LOL when Emperor Steinbrenner trades Kevin Brown and Jaret Wright for a sack filled with baseballs.

I'm over the loss, now that I got confirmation that my money will be refunded for the ALCS games the Yanks won't be participating in.

I can't wait for this offseason, though. So many worthless bums being dropped off the payroll:

Kevin Brown $15 million
Bernie Williams $12 million
Felix Rodriguez $3 million
Tanyon Sturtze $1 million
Tom Gordon $3 million

And let's not forget: Mark Bellhorn, Alan Embree, Ruben Sierra, Matt Lawton, John Flaherty.

I hope they can find a way to trade Jaret Wright. C'mon, there's only 1 year and $7 million left. Eat some of it and get a D-level prospect in return.

There's more left on Wright. We can void his last year but still a 4 mil buyout. That would average out to 9 mil/2 years. Sad. Tampa faction sucks ass.

I want RJ, Moose, Chacon, Pavano, Millwood as the rotation next year (no particular reason) with Small in the pen, Wang in the pen...although he could beat out Pavano if Pavano begins to suckass again...and Wright in the pen.

I want to sign BJ Ryan AT THE LEAST. Farnsworth would be okay too, although who the hell knows what is up with him.

Classy. Did you happen to be one of the people booing Mariano when he blew a couple of saves against Boston in April?

Either way, Bernie was not worth 12 million this year. Hell, he wasn't worth six million. He was worth a million or two. Worthless is harsh, but Bernie let the team down consistently down the stretch.

Ya know, on a team with A-Rod, Sheff, et al I'd say the prematurely aging life-long Yankee depleted by past injuries let me down the least. That said, yeah, he either takes a massive cut or is cut entirely. Sad but true.

A-Rod and Sheff didn't let the team down in the stretch. Seriously, come on....because of them we went like 25-1 the last 600000 games or whatever.

Ah, I see "down the stretch" as this series. My bad.
