I know it worked out, but am I the only one who didn't see ANY logic in Smoltz intentionally walking someone with a 3-2 count?
 
I'm liking this 4 run lead early. Smoltz isn't looking too shabby tonight, so we should be set if he can pitch atleast 7.

I know people hate walking the number 8 to face the pitcher,who would lead off the next inning,but with Clemens having all sorts of trouble with his control that inning I so would have taken my chance with Smoltz at the plate instead of a good hitting rookie catcher.

Shit Phil knows the Stros never score more than 1 run for Roger,as soon as he hit that pitch out to make it 3-1 I knew we lost.

Roger is just way off tonight,I'm not sure if its the weather or what,but he cant hit his spots for shit tonight.

The TV here is all static-y and it's kinda hard seeing the count and anything, so it's a bit difficult to see what the situation is. Plus all these moron callers being more moronic than normal. :)

Willy is iffy at times defensively, but well, he's done his fair share of amazing catches that no one else would ever get to. I can't hold it against him too much yet, but dammit. :/

Well, just like last year the Astros did what the needed to in Atlanta, win 1 game. I hate playing in Turner field. That fucking Tomahawk shit fucking balls annoying. I'd probalby punch the nearest Braves fan in the head if I was at the game and they did that.
 
Anyone know what was thrown on the field the 2nd time? I saw that someone threw a ball on the field during the rundown, but the announcers said something else was thrown an inning or two later. Bastards!

One of the things that made the White Sox such a great regular season team was their pitching depth -- they didn't have one crappy reliever, and they had so many starters that Brandon McCarthy (one of the more talented young pitchers this season) didn't even make their playoff roster. Well, here's the thing about pitching depth -- in a five-game series, it's irrelevant unless you're playing a 12-inning game (which seems inevitable because I just jinxed it). And when you throw in their bats (meager on paper, somehow they always manage to scrape together 3-4 runs), it's hard to see how they would translate well in a short series.

The Red Sox are still built for a short series better than the White Sox, mainly because of the Wells-Schilling combo (does anyone think these two won't show up this month?), and the brilliance of Big Papi, and the fact that Manny is currently in one of those red-hot Manny Zones (giving the Sox two dangerous hitters, back-to-back, that can win this series pretty much by themselves). If and when they lose, it will be because of the Little Things. I just don't think it's happening this week.

uhm, in a short series, thats pretty much the truth. All you need is 2 quality starters and you are set. If anything, he was defending the WhiteSox leaving mcCarthy off the roster, cause they really don't need him.

Uh, did you not read his next sentance bashing the White Sox hitting? He praised the Chi Sox pitching, yeah, but he also said it didn't matter how good their pitching is, because our hitting apparantly sucks.

Nothing he said had anything to do with McCarthy. He was trying to make a point that our pitching is so good that we left out a great rookie...but none of it matters because pitching doesn't matter in a 5 game series!

of course he's a homer, he admits that. Thats why he picks the redsox, no matter what, same reason you pick the ChiSox. I was just confused as to why you bolded the sentence that isn't bashing the Whitesox at all.
 
Oh, I bolded it only because it's an assanine thing to say. He didn't bash anyone with that statement, but pitching ALWAYS matters, even in a five game series.

Pitching is key in any post-season series. For him to say otherwise is just a complete joke, and it only makes me hate him more because to me it looks like he said that because he knows his Red Sox team this year lacks any pitching...
