Nevermind the fact that Smoltz had opening day jitters(THE ELBOW IS FINE, PLEASE GOD LET THE ELBOW BE FINE). Nevermind the fact that the Marlins lineup is scary as fuck.

Tears am falling down on keyboard. Fuck total.

To top it all off, I have Maddux and Smotlz in the GAF OT Loose Balls league, and in my money league I have Santana, Maddux and Oswalt. Fuck total indeed.

Well, pending the Twinkie win over the M's I'll be 8-0 today (2 day tally of 14-4)

Man, I was counting on the Atlanta bullpen blowing a great start by John Smoltz.. well it was Smoltz himself that got the job done: 7 runs over 1.2 innings. Ouch. Ryan Drese pitched better than I thought he would keeping the LA Angels of Anaheim to only 3 runs.

Oh, well. How about tomorrow?

Pirates over Brewers 5-3 (Davis isn't too strong and Kip is good enough)
Red Sox over Yankees 4-2 (changed my mind, Wake is tough in NY)
Tigers over Royals 4-3 (pitching is even but Tigers have power edge)
White Sox over Indians 4-1 (shoot. changed my mind again. Garcia is unbeatable in the day)
Devil Rays over Blue Jays 7-5 (What you say?? Hendrickson can't beat the Devil Rays.)
Houston over Cardinals 6-3 (Pettite's first trip to Busch Stadium. Unintimidated.)
Marlins over Braves 8-2 (No contest. Leiter is a night pitcher and he is awesome in april. Hampton is not.)
Twins over Mariners 5-1 (This Madritsch kid is good... but Silva is better.)
Nationals over Phillies 4-2 (Zach Day is great in april. Brett Myers is never good.)
Athletics over Orioles 9-5 (I don't think Cabrera will be able to shake off what happened last time he faced the A's)
Mets over Reds 3-2 (Glavine is also awesome in April. Milton is just a good pitcher)
Rockies over Padres 11-8 (Most pitchers hate Coors.. Eaton hates it more than most.)
Angels over Rangers 6-5 (Truly a toss up. I just had to pick a side.)
Dodgers over Giants 5-2 (Odalis is simply tough.. and no Bonds? No help for Rueter)
Diamondbacks over Cubs 7-3 (No question. Brandon Webb OWNS the Cubs.)

I'm a Marlins fan, but what happened to Smoltz was just a fluke. It's his first start in 4 years and first opening day start in 8 years. I'm pretty sure the nerves got to him. He didn't look good up there at all. His highlight would have to be his 3 pitch strike out against Delgado.

We'll see what happens today against Hampton. Because what happened yesterday will definitely not happen today. But Beckett did kick ass yesterday(but no one talks about it).
 
Matsui 0-2?? UNPOSSIBLE. There must be cheating involved. Godzilla is still proclaimed AL MVP before the All Star Break though.

Garcia goes 6, gives up 2 ER and the way we're going he's gonna get a loss. A small bit of karma for Westbrook's outing on Monday perhaps. Our offense so far(2 games, i know) is absolutely looking pathetic.

ive lost ALL confidence in bernie and posada at the plate and MO against the red sox.

when bernie and posada are up i automatically think OUT or double play, with MO up against the sox i automatically think blown save.

im not even pissed, its not like they played bad or anything. it was just a freak play by arod. they've always had trouble against wakefield so that doesnt bother me. its just that something must be done about mariano and the red sox.
 
That was painful to watch. Torre pulling Rivera in the middle of an inning, and Rivera walking to the dugout in defeat does not compute in my brain. What the fuck is Torre going to do about Mo and the Red Sox? And that wasn't a freak play. A-Rod is the Anti-christ. God stopped being a Yankee fan once the Yankees got that douchebag.

It's the beginning of the season, and its no reason to panic..yet.

However... the guy has blown his last 4 save chances against the Sox going back to last year. Granted, one of those blown saves had him come in with a runner on 3rd with no outs, but it's still 4 blown saves in a row. I think the totals now at 9 counting playoffs over the last two seasons.

Obviously, something ain't working for Mo', and more obviously, Mo' ain't done shit to try and fix.

His stuff is still nasty, but it's like watching a poker player have his tell discovered. They know what's coming, and they know how to hit it or lay off. He needs to do something different. Maybe Mussina could teach him the knuckle curve? :lol
