You won your World Series, isn't the Yankee hatred in the Magical Land of History Erasing known as Boston suppossed to dissapate along with the 86 years of misery?

i just love the fact that everyone was talking up the yanks as possibly being the best team of all time this year, and the backpeddling going on now is hilarious.

OMG SIGN SOMEONE QUICK!!!! OMG WE HAVE NO FARM SYSTEM!!! OMG TRADE SOMEONE FOR CLEMENS NOW!!!

ppl over at mfyfans celebrating that giambi got hit in the head. thats pretty low.

the irony is your luxury tax is about equal to the devil rays entire salary, yet they are beating you senseless.

:lol lotta funny games tonight. Watching the ticker to see my guy Overbay get walked AGAIN (when teh fuck did teams start giving him the Barry treatment?) and then watching Miller take a few balls wondering if he was going to get - yep, walked. :lol

Still, nothing as funny as the hapless Yankees getting pounded up the ass by the even more hapless Devil Rays. :D If I was a Yankee fan I'd be more worried about how NOBODY wants anything the Yanks have to offer in a trade. Sure they'll have some money to throw around in the offseason but that's a loong way away, and last year they couldn't find anything Arizona wanted for Johnson no matter how much cash they throwed in.

I can't believe Doc blew it... but it happens. The back-to-back shutouts would have been awesome though. But alas...

Let's see how they do against the White Sox now. Should be an interesting series.

please dear god no more trades. id rather see them be barely .500 all year long then see more prospects and cash traded for veterans.

Overbay, in TWO COMPLETE GAMES: 2-3, 6 walks

there's a nice statline.

Overbay is awesome. he is the reason i go to brewers games. I him having that bandage on means that the brewers will sweep the cubs then i say let that bandage stay on for ever.

Overbay is a hero to brewer fans. The whole stadium justmakes cricles and says Oooooooooooo when he comes up to the plate. You should've seen the cubs fans :lol (thats right you dirty flat landers go back to sucky illinois dissapointed, once again :lol )

Brewers for the Sweep!!!

Actually, and I think it's in this very thread, I've been down on the Yanks since letting Lebier and Hernandez go and the Jaret Wright signing. No backpedaling here. I also think most of the Yankee fans in this thread have been depressed about the farm system for the last two seasons.

I forgive you though, I understand you missed all of that in the celebration.

a walk-off walk :lol :lol

and the ship continues to sink. 4 losses in a row :lol

God, this day sucked!

First, the Bulls lose on a last second shot after a major comeback. Then I watch the Cubs lose on a walk-off walk!

Ughhhh shitty!

Monkeyfucking Dodgers and their anemic ass offense. Livan with a complete game against us. Disgusting!

Yeah I watched that game. If only Perez could have made it through the 7th inning without getting hammered . And it probably wouldn't have been so bad if he could have gotten some help from the outfield which was out of position to make some crucial outs to keep the Dodgers within striking distance. The only time the Dodgers really had a chance to score some runs it ended up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th inning with 2 outs and Choi AB. I didn't figure Choi would do anything and I was right *sigh* At least Choi looks better than Nakamura who looks like he needs some work with a battting coach (what a strange batting stance he's got). One bright note is Edwards, who just came up from AAA, got a hit in his first AB. Woo! ;-)

ugh, WTF is with the M's offense lately? Theyve scored like 3 times in the last week. Don't tell me it's Safeco Field, because the other teams don't have as much trouble scoring there. At least the bullpen is ok.

I fear this the lack of offense will be a recurring trend all year long. The combination of He sucks Choi, Nakamura, Valentin, and Saenz at our corners are probably going to kill us all year long. On whole, I think the staff, the pen, and the defense will all be ok but the lack of offense will slowly eat at us all year long.

Evenball:
The M's are in a world of offensive hurt. With the exception of Ichiro, Winn, and Sexson with his 7 HR and 20 RBI's, that lineup is filled with holes. If I were Hargrove, I would move Ichiro to #3 in the order, Winn at leadoff, push Sexson and beltre back one spot, and maybe Boone between Valdez and Olivo to break up that black hole at the end of the lineup.

Eh, I wouldn't worry about Valentin, I think he'll be out for quite a while with that injury he got. :-\ At least this gives others a chance to try out at 3rd base. Of course Nakamura hasn't been a great choice so far (still early I know), but maybe somebody from AAA (Edwards for example) will provide some punch offensively from that position. I just hope Isturiz is okay after getting popped down near his ankle by that foul tip. I don't think the Dodgers can afford to lose him... :-\

I'm sorry but I don't care how early it is, I have completly given up on Nakamura. The guy can pick it at 3rd but his swing gives him no chance to hit anything on the outside half of the plate. Pitchers should be well aware of this and I would be surprised if he gets his average up to .215. I wish I shared your optimism about a one of our prospects stepping in and creating a spark for this team but I just don't see it happening over the long haul. However, that dosen't mean I don't want them to bring up someone to replace that black hole at 3rd. I'm far more hopeful that when Werth gets healthy, he can be that catalyst for the team. As for Izzy, that foul off the shin was a definant scare for all us Dodger fans.

My heart aches just thinking about how many Bases Loaded opportunities we've had lately. Too bad we cant do squat with them but pop out or ground out. Hopefully Izturis is gonna be fine cause the Dodgers cant afford to lose him so early in the season. I fear this upcoming road trip is gonna be one big ass Disaster. 3 at Cincinatti and 4 at St. Louis, If they dont break out of this offensive slump i cant see them winning more than 1-2 games max. =\

Agreed about the road trip....Immediatly after St. Louis things don't get any easier, we get Atlanta for 3, Flordia for 3, and the Angles for 3 more.

Let us pray we can stop the bleeding.

Poor Cubs, poor poor Cubs.

At least it wasn't a walk ;)

I've enjoyed watching the Brewers the last few games though, and not just because Overbay has been otherworldly for me.

Not counting today, for the last week Overbay has a pretty good line:
11/14 for a .786 avg, 5 runs, 3 hr, 8rbi, 9 bb
DAMN.

:lol :lol :lol @ the cubs

5 in a row and counting.

sox up 2-1 going into the 9th...contreras was filthy today. 8 IP, 7 Ks, 4 hits, 1 run

That's a disgrace! You guys are being 2-hit all game, and then you manage to go ahead 2-1 on two bases loaded walks. Chicago Walksox!

God the White Sox are so damn lucky. Finding the damndest ways to win games. Pathetic! This will come back to haunt the Sox I know it!

AT the Cubs board there is a thread where people are posting mock post game comments by Dusty Baker. I'm posting what I think ist he best one.

"That's what society is like, dude. You go out there and fight, and you keep fighting and fighting but they always come back. They're tough dudes. You ever see a dinosaur fight a Ferrari? That's what it's like man. Sometimes the dinosaur is so strong it can just smash the Ferrari. But Ferraris are fast man, and they get around the dinosaur. Me and Darren, when we're back home, we always play with his dinosaurs and toy cars. I bought him a toy Ferrari, and that thing is fast. He said, look daddy, it's red like the C on the Cubs hats, so from that point forward, I compared our team to a ferrari. We just got smashed by a bigger dinosaur today."

:lol :lol :lol

you sure that's a made up post-game comment? ;)

Haha, yeah. The ferrari fighting a dinosaur comment gets me every time! :lol

On another cubs note, here is some more solace for our pathetic team:

Sosa, Garciapara, Wood, and Baker all take up about 40 million of our 101 million dollar payroll this year. :/ One is gone, two are hurt and not playing, and one is inept! GO CUBS.

You know what's great? There can be no fucking doubt ever that Mel Stottlemeyer is anything other than pure suck. Contreras has a sub 3 ERA to start the season. Sure, he only has 1 win, but he's not getting absolutely pummelled like he did every other start in NY. If Contreras shuts down the Red Sox, they need to place Stottlemeyer's severed head on one of the foul poles to show the world that shitty old pitching coaches are no longer welcome in Yankee stadium.

i hope to see either ron guidry or david cone in mel's spot as soon as possible.

steinbrenner will probably demand someone from AAA to take his role though.

wasn't stottlemeyer going to retire a couple years back? anyways, can't always blame the pitching coach, hes working with over the hill/overpaid pieces of coal that will never be diamonds again.

Even though we are losing to the DRays AGAIN and about to go down to the bottom of the AL East... I am still a true navy blue yankee fan and watch every game I can. Fuck those bandwagon faggots!

as for contereras only having 1 win, that's because of our lackluster offense. we have simply not scored for him.

1-0 with a sub 3 ERA is pretty bad.

our combined team ERA is 2.94. now THAT is ridiculous.

WOOOO 21 and 7 BABY! THIS IS OUR YEAR!

I used to follow the Chisox a bit when they had Blackjack, Alvarez, Raines, Guillen, Ventura, etc. Wouldn't mind seeing them win the AL this year.

That's the attitude! Shame about Joe...

I'll continue to watch, it's just the embarassment that it costs so damn much for this piece of shit they field every night that's making it rough. There's just no excuse for this awful level of baseball the Yankees are playing at.

You have to wonder how many of these shits are giving up at the plate knowing that the rookie starters or the shit bullpen is just going to blow the game any way. You'd figure the embarassment of being so atrocious would be enough motivation to snap out of the funk, but it looks like nobody gives a shit. How can you not stand there on the diamond, see Torre call for Quantrill and Gordon and think "Oh shit, well, I guess we're really done now, may as well relax." It's fucking disgusting. Ths shit cannings need to start now, because the fire needs to be lit.

Yeah whoever came out with that title should definitely get a bonus.... the Orioles performance this season... I'm shocked, absolutely shocked... it's still not getting me back up to Baltimore to catch another game, but I always check their standings/scores these days...
