They include expanding flexibility for completing trades (such that player salaries traded only need to be within approximately 250 percent of each other), eliminating base-year compensation rules, increasing qualifying offers required to make a player a restricted free agent, shortening the time period a team has to match a restricted free agent's offer sheet, replacing the biannual exception with a second midlevel exception, and dropping the age limit back to 18.

Getting rid of the luxury tax wouldn't eliminate revenue sharing (if it did a lot of teams would go bankrupt), but it would make the Heat experiment look pedestrian.linsivvi said:Just get rid of the luxury tax. All it does is give incentive to small market teams to not spend and suck and make profit from the tax.

Sharp said:giri, if you can just cut a player at any time and free all his cap space then teams in rich markets will just offer huge contracts to players and cut them the moment they don't work out. They won't have to worry about age or injury history because they have money. Small teams will still be constrained by their actual budgets (as opposed to the cap) and forced to hang onto huge contracts. The large-market teams effectively suffer no repercussions under your scenario. That's awful for the league.
Dark FaZe said:I haven't read the thread so excuse me if I sound ignorant but this stuff sounds pretty reasonable to me. I really like the thought of increased trade flexibility...which is probably one of the biggest issues in the league right now. Packaging together PERFECT salary matches just seems like such a chore.
A second MLE would likely add more depth to teams like the Lakers, who could basically have added Mike Miller, Steve Blake and Matt Barnes with that alone...but when you try to fuck with the big market squads ability to use their status as an advantage I think you can start to cause problems. Look at the Knicks...they haven't won anything despite their allure.
and yet, its still a great photo. its timeless!ryutaro's mama said:It certainly was...two nights ago.
Did he really just complaain about taxes? FFS, ron, including next year's salary, you'll have made $60 million dollars in twelve years. ($~55M in 8). STFU about your financial problems, people with doctoral or professional degrees earn about $3.5-$4.5 million in their entire lifetime, you're basically making 40x as much money as them when you factor in the length of your career :lolWretchedTruman said:hmmm, maybe I was a little too subtle.
yeah, well uh, Roy's cool and all that.

Is this really how he talks? I'm trying to so hard to have a feel-good moment for Ron Artest and then he just started talking again.

The knicks problem is that Isiah and Layden stuck us in purgatory. Neither one had the balls to tell Dolan to rebuild. So we were stuck with role players and talented guys with bad attitudes. We were bad, but not bad enough in any year to get a top 3 pick.Dark FaZe said:I haven't read the thread so excuse me if I sound ignorant but this stuff sounds pretty reasonable to me. Wilson looking grizzly this year because he is beasting. He has improved his ball handling and midrange shot every year.Barrage said:Some sloppy shit in MSG!
Likin' Andrea coming out aggressive. Now if only he could end a game aggressively...
I've finally figured out when's the last time I saw Wilson Chandler's haircut. Paris Is Burning.
charsace said:So DY is DJ on his way out? Everyone seems to be throwing him under the bus.
Probably. Crash basically said on monday that DJ had no heart and that he misses Felton. LB has been saying the same thing for weeks. People have been saying DJ is scared of Jax and that's why he is always passing Jax the ball, allowing him to iso even though DJ's teammates hate him for it.pilonv1 said:Who's going to run that team then? Larry himself?
Sharp said:In my scenario teams use it to get rid of truly untenable contracts (Arenas or Rashard), not just whenever they feel like it.
Nuggs without Melo are awful.
That's a MAN beard.Sharp said:Turiaf needs to do something about the strange growth on his face.

Bayless has a better chance of being an allstar in the future than DeRozan does.Barrage said:OK, Bayless. Now THIS I like.
So unless you're Jewish you can't have a thick beard? What is wrong with you? :lolSharp said:Unless he's an orthodox Jew it has no pace on the basketball court. Or anywhere else for that matter.

I wish. I can't stand watching a good player get wrecked. Even Chris Paul made it a point to join the "Free DJ" bus this off-season as well.charsace said:So DY is DJ on his way out? Everyone seems to be throwing him under the bus.
Thick is not the same as unruly, unkempt and unregulated. I'm not saying get rid of the beard, but at least fucking trim it.The Frankman said:Wow refs are calling it tight early. There wasn't a fight or anything, why calling it so tight?
So unless you're Jewish you can't have a thick beard? What is wrong with you? :lol
Bulls only at 41, probably because of the Cavs' crippling defense. The Chosen One said:Cavs only 35 @ half-time. :lol

Not to excuse the New Orleans fans, but they are facing the Pistons.Rodeo Clown said:The crowd at this New Orleans game is pretty pathetic. So many empty seats in the lower bowl. Way to fight for your team, guys.
Crash and Jackson are team captains are usually the main guys shooting the teams out of games or letting nobodies go off on them for 20 pts in one quarter. LB's been ragging on DJ for years now so for them to hop in too just makes it easier for everyone to see that they're finger pointing instead of actually being team leaders.charsace said:Probably. They were both garbage. I have no idea what they saw on the Sefolosha layup or the Jeff Green shot.Sharp said:Superbease with two fouls already.

They're both probably going to end being fined by the team - and the beat writer, Bonnell, is going to shafted (again).
