Fire Rambis. This team is much better than its record, and the lack of discipline and shoddy decision making, for this team, at least, is pretty clealry a result of shoddy work on the coaching staff's part at properly harnessing the players' abilities.

We have six wins in thirty games. about 1/3rd of those losses we had no excuse losing, and when you add in other games we fell short in, probably half of the wolves' 24 losses should be in the win column.

What an awful coach rambis has turned out to be. I expected much better of him.

Rambis doesn't run sets. It's completely insane. Other teams ramp up the pressure when they've decided they want to win, and the Wolves have nothing to go to and completely fold. He just expects them to make the same reads in this bullshit, triangle-based offense as they did the other 3 quarters, only those aren't there anymore.

And that's not getting into his terrible defensive schemes he stubbornly sticks to in the face of the worst defense in the league.

For him to keep throwing the players under the bus after these collapses is absurd.

Stanford’s Brook Lopez(notes) had slipped to ninth, and Jordan and his top basketball executives prepared to select him. So sure of the choice, one team official called Lopez’s agents and told them to prepare the 7-footer for the walk to the podium. Michael Jordan had his man.

Only, Larry Brown wouldn’t stop his protesting in the draft room. For some reason – who knows, because Brown didn’t scout these players – the coach wanted to take D.J. Augustin(notes), a small point guard over a skilled 7-footer. He didn’t want Raymond Felton(notes), Brown bellowed. Finally, Jordan relented. The Bobcats notified the league they were taking Augustin and left Lopez stunned when the commissioner didn’t call his name.

He might be even worse than Wittman. This wolves team is much better than anything wittman had to work with, that's for sure.

When you have more blown double-digit leads than wins, and you've played more than 5 (10 at the most) games, and pretty much all of those blown leads occur late in the 4th quarter, it is time to get a new coaching staff. We have now played 30 games, and blown more leads than games we've won. The wolves should have at least 2.5 times the number of wins they have.

.500 is a hell of a stretch, but this team is certainly better than last season.

But there's no chance the entire coaching staff gets fired. Laimbeer gets promoted to interim and they ride the season out with him, try to salvage this mess. He's the one guy in house that's proven to be a success coach on a pro level, albeit the WNBA. And I guarantee Bill gets more out of this team, though, just by simplifying the offense to a lot of pick and roll sets and not packing the paint on defense.
 
Hmmm...Wolves with K-Love, Rubio, Beasley, a high draft pick and Laimbeer?

Still going to struggle of course, but that's a team with a bit of salsa to it.

Not sure how Wolves fans feel about it, but I feel like Laimbeer would be the perfect guy to give this franchise a bit of a face along with Rubio. Turn that image around a bit.

More like a good to great/all-time great long-range shooter who operates almost exclusively off the ball/off of curls/through picks/etc.

Those guys were very good shots, though - and Nash is probably an all-time great shooter.

Nash, Ray Allen and Dirk are all time great shooters. Nash and Allen are tied for the second best shooters I've ever seen (Larry Bird being the first).
 
Of those guys, only Ray Allen is a guy whose shooting/shot attempts is (at least now) mostly a function of motion off the ball. He comes off of curls, and fights through screens, and moves/positions himself perfectly to snipe after having received the ball from someone else in motion.

I want to know what D'Antoni would be able to do if one of his guys was more like Reggie Miller or Ray Allen.

I know what you mean, but i'm not sure being able to come off a screen is so important in his sets. His stuff was always reliant on a big getting the D to collapse in the PnR, and kicking it to the spot up shooter.
 
Well, VC is not playing tonight as expected but it turns out he will not be getting surgery after all. So I expect he'll sit out for a few weeks and then start playing.

Looking forward to seeing Gortat and Pietrus tonight! I will have to temper my expectations since it's their first game with the crew with not much practice time (better than Orlando had) but it would be pretty sweet to beat the Heat :) Hopefully Gortat solves that Bosh issue we had last time, that was embarrasing.

Update: Wade might not play tonight due to his knee. VC is recovering quickly between rest and Suns magical wizard trainers and might actually play our next game (Sunday), he's at least not ruled out at this point.

Love what Gortat said about the Heat driving inside:

I wouldn't even be that mad. DJ's probably already dead and Diop/Carroll are both horrendous contracts. Even though Baron is fat and a bastard, he and Silas worked out okay for each other in the past... I'd like to keep DJ, but I really think that LB made it a point to devour his soul before he left.

Instead of practicing with a 24-second shot clock, the Bobcats worked with a 14-second shot clock.

So many trade rumors floating around now though. The one that got my panties wet was Wallace to Portland for Matthews/Pryz/2nd round pick.

Even if Silas is only a short term coach, I'm good. The Bucks could win it all and I wouldn't even be mad.
