So is Morey panicking or just being a realist? Sounds like they desperately want a legitimate star, but giving up their depth isn't going to make them any better.
The Trail Blazers are involved in ongoing discussions aimed at determining how much longer Brandon Roy will have to rest his ailing knees. Among several options under consideration is shutting Roy down for the rest of the season in hopes he can restored to his previous All-Star status, two people with knowledge of the team's thinking told CBSSports.com.

Lakers don't look like they'll be getting first seed this year and for the first time in a while that might actually be a problem. I'm not even trolling here.
Wall's Dougie was one of the single greatest moments of this season.
.If you disagree with me, that's cool, and obviously there's plenty of season left. We'll see in the end whether these issues are overblown or not
If the lakers keep playing like they have most of dec, i wouldn't be surprised if Utah knocks them out either.

Shows key plays of the last 22 seconds except the part where Rudy Gay went for a shot with ~10 seconds left to go and it went off the rim and out of bounds.
That runner by Mayo was fucking ridiculous. I thought that had no chance of going in. I had already resorted to the "just our luck" notion in my head before Cousins inbounded it. :lol

Every team beats teams "at home and on the road." That's a completely meaningless phrase. The reason that it might actually matter is because the Lakers have real (non-Mavs) competition in the West this year and have a good shot at not retaining HCA if they get to the finals. But that's not really all of it. The Lakers flat-out don't look as good this year. Don't give me the Bynum or lack of effort BS, please, they just don't. They've had some really bad losses and two three-game losing streaks already. That's not the Lakers of last year. Kobe looks like he's lost a step and the incredible Lakers bench doesn't look so amazing against higher-level teams.Boombloxer said:Same coach, same set-up, same offense, same backcourt, so yes, it's relevant.
And you still haven't laid out why. We beat teams at home and on the road, period. So no, you'll need to try harder.
I'm not pulling out the casket. Like I said, no reason for Lakers fans to panic. It's the total denial that anything is wrong that puzzles me. You're right that the team might right itself and finish the year strong and go on to win another championship. The season is young. But you can't just outright ignore the first two months of the season either. They mean something.Typically they are, especially for December. We finished last season like complete shit, didn't matter. So yea, pull out the casket if you want, but this is pretty normal.

The Crimson Blur said:Do you understand what that streak of 50 wins signifies? It shows an incredible dominance over the league for an unreal stretch of time. Successful season after successful season (and before you say "only a championship season is successful," tell that to the Raptors who would sacrifice a baby goat to have just one 50 win season).
Championship or bust is such a dumb mentality. It'll make you a bitter fan. You have to relish in the small successes as well as the big ones. Of course a championship would be nice, but I refuse to believe a 50 win season was a failure.
We are rebuilding.
We just happen to be winning while doing it.
The Spurs are pretty amazing, huh?
But, you are clearly scared of the Spurs. I don't have to "shout" it, you are saying it yourself.

It's a damn shame too. I know it sounds a bit sexist, but a woman that cook is an extremely appealing trait. I sometimes wonder if they even realize this.
I can echo this sentiment many times over, and have. But what TCB says isn't wrong either, i'm ok if the suns can get to the playoffs each year, but it's just like being at the strippers, it's all just a tease. Actually winning the chip is what you're aiming for, i.e. getting laid.Jeff-DSA said:I would trade the last 15 years of good seasons for just one championship. LovingSteam said:That was the point I was trying to make. The Utah Jazz have been the most consistent team I'd say over the last 2 decades. But never got to the promised land. Now I'm sure the fanbase of the Clippers would do anything to have the Jazz success but the Jazz would love to have the success of the Spurs. If I were a fan of the Jazz, winning 50 really doesn't matter.

I am not buying any of your bullshit, but I am impressed at the success the Spurs have had even after Duncan retired after last season. I think they might have contended for another championship if they still had an All Star quality PF.The Crimson Blur said:We are rebuilding.

LovingSteam said:Welp, 50 wins means nothing if that is all you do. Being consistently mediocre is still mediocre. Sure, teams that are consistently bad would love to win 50 wins year after year. But teams that are consistently good aren't concerned with winning 50 games, they're concerned getting to the next level and staying there.

Oh of course. A ring is the ultimate goal. I am not downplaying a championship. Trust me, I want number 5 really bad. All I am saying is that I think saying "50 wins means nothing if that is all you do" like LovingSteam said, is just flat-out wrong. There is no shame in not winning a ring every year. It may be disappointing, but there are other accomplishments to be had. A player wins MVP, your team exceeds expectations, etc. A season is not a failure just because you didn't win a championship.
Squall ASF said:Nice, I believe the league owes us some crowns then. You make those claims becuase you haven't done it consecutive seasons, led the entire league when a season ended, and still have no rings to show for any of it. It's overrated. I share Jeff's sentiment.
