I have low expectations of one-cour shows after Blood-C's spending five episodes going nowhere, and spending five more episodes going nowhere with hilarious squishy organs. *shrugs*
That was all carefully planned and deliberate set-up.

Not that I think it's a great show, rather, it's trolling is deliberately crafted and executed.

No fair, you edited!

Nekogami wasn't a bad show it was just utterly dull and unengaging. Which is even worse, actually.
I thought it was more relevant!

As for Nekogami, yeah, it isn't a bad show, but it's inoffensively unengaging in a boring fashion.

Assuming that the average episode is 23 minutes long, there will be 276 pantyshots every episode. What a deal!
C'mon now, we all know no show will beat Agent Aika.

Well, it is CLAMP.... guess I'll forever be a sucker to their trolls, huh? :(

Kinda interested in Un-Go. I'll have to see if I can be motivated enough to watch it after the others tho.

I would like to thank my mom for always believing in me, my friends who stood by me even as Unknown surpassed me for a day, and the penguin gods for making it all possible.

I was trying like hell at the end to fall out of the Top 5. Thanks for helping make that happen! :3

Is cynicism the mood of choice for Anime-GAF? It certainly seems so.
I believe it's the mood of the industry which we simply reflect.

Catering to a variety of super nice otaku fetishes is the focus of the industry, for the most part, as you can see by examining the OP. This rarely makes for good anime.

That's not Horizon.

Give it up. Smug is going to disappoint you in ways that you never knew possible.

Anyways for Fall, I'll most likely pick up:
PERUSONAH 4 THE ANIMATION
Guilty Crown
Mirai Nikki
Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon

In terms of other stuff that isn't just otaku masturbation fodder, I don't even hold up much hope for stuff like the new Hunter X Hunter. I can only imagine it being substantially worse than the original adaptor.

I'm always open to being proved wrong.

I picked up Eden of the East on the cheap(around $50, with another boxset[Ranma OAVs] free). Is it as good as I've heard?
I still really enjoy the the television series, even if the ending is completely open and basically a set up for the movies.

The movies themselves really fail to deliver, I feel, because of their awkward TV-show pacing. It's really disappointing.

I'll check out at least one episode of:

Guilty Crown
Un-Go
Chihayafuru
Fate/Zero
HxH
Horizon
Persona 4
Phi Brain
Tamayura
Ben-To

I'm pretty confident that Chihayafuru will be good and that P4 will be decent - everything else can go anywhere, really, especially Guilty Crown.

My mind cannot comprehend this.
Why not? Junichi is a bro, I might check out the show to see if he's doing something interesting with it.

I dunno, all the previews have been pretty awesome. I mean, I was pretty skeptical given the director's... uh... track record, but the previews have convinced me it'll at least be So Okay It's Average.

The director did Angel Beats. Regardless of how you feel about the content of the show, it was more than plenty competently directed. Persona 4 should be just fine on that front. Technically I forsee don't any problems, the PVs were all really great. They have all the original game VAs and Shoji Meguro. Everything that has to be there is there. It all comes down to how it's written and scripted whether it will be truly glorious or merely a passable adaptation of the game's story.

True, I just associate Sato so strongly with Aria and similar shows that it's jarring to see. The trailer looks potentially decent and I do like puzzles, but I hope they're not going to make a ton of sliding block puzzles and call it a day.
Must...not...craft....joke.

Fucking Manglobe. Honestly, I don't think I'll be watching anything from this season besides the continued airing of Gintama, a few of those listed ovas, and MPD. I've flogged myself enough. I'm going into retirement.
To be fair to Manglobe, they've been setting us up for this by making a ton of boring and weak shows on boring subjects. We knew it was coming, now they're just as bad as any c-tier studio.

Yeah, I'm expecting it to be pretty good. Plus, we know what the source material is, and they're being really faithful.

It'll be my fallback show alongside Fate/Zero in case everything else this season sucks royal donkey balls.

His involvement in Ragnarok the Animation should worry you. The only chance I see the P4 anime being decent to good is if the source isn't hard to fuck up.

Guilty Crown

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/XYXkIl.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/KLV4PGgm50s

Anime Saving Potential: 98%

Code Geass:
Series Composition:
Hiroyuki Yoshino
Ichiro Okouchi

Screenplay:
Hiroyuki Yoshino
Ichiro Okouchi

Guilty Crown:
Series Composition:
Hiroyuki Yoshino
Ichiro Okouchi

!!!

Clearly, a show for the ages.

It’s a two-cour noitaminA show about mecha and revolutions and j-pop internet idols and chicks in revealing dresses and fabulous dudes with magic swords fighting random stuff.
When you stop to actually think about how good the show might be you are struck instead by the realization that it’s probably going to be shit and that to watch this is to witness the incremental demise of an once-quality timeslot, but who cares.
It really can’t get any better than this! Cute girls in wheelchairs piloting giant robots pivoting out of slow-mo explosions framed against glittering cityscapes - mildly retarded half-naked chicks whispering things into the protagonist’s ear as he pulls stuff out of them to fight THE GOVERNMENT- damn, guys, this is going to be brilliant!

noitaminA is dead, in its place will rise GonzoitaminA.

Un-Go

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/1MrS4.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/cvRsOrgDj7I

Anime Saving Potential: 30%

Second of the two noitaminA shows airing this season. Not expecting much. On one hand you have guys who worked on the original FMA and Oh! Edo Rocket working on this, but on the other hand they also did some questionable things like direct Gundam 00 or write Angel Cop and Shikabane Hime.

I'm going to make a bold prediction and say that noitaminA will go 0-for-2 this season.

Chihayafuru

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/J0IX7.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/zAU2eGJKjxM

Anime Saving Potential: 65%

One of the very few shows this season with a chance to actually be good. It’s a fluffy shoujo josei about card games and romance. Morio Asaka is directing.

Well, it's one of the few shows this season that doesn't immediately scream "crap!" I suppose.
Mirai Nikki

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/gjvXY.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/ieoktcpgMqs

Anime Saving Potential: 0%

From the director of Shuffle and the writer of Boku no Pico. Scheduled to run through Fall and Winter. It’s based off the popular manga of the same name, which started off as an enjoyable death-game affair featuring a wimply Shinji-esque lead paired off with his extraordinarily capable, murderous, obsessive girlfriend. The good news, especially for fans of the manga, is that with 24+ episodes it’ll likely cover the entire story. The bad news is that it’s going to be a bad show.

Looks like Deadman Wonderland season 2...
Persona 4: The Animation

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/0o2iu.png[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/jOhkqf5qulE

Anime Saving Potential: 0%

It’s Persona 4. Fans of the game are going to watch it. People who only watched the Endurance Run are going to watch it in lieu of actually playing the game. People who never played the game are going to watch it because of the hype. It won’t be great, but I doubt it’ll be awful either - decent at best, below-average at worst - ultimately, just another forgettable show made for the fans of the game. And that’s fine.

You never know, maybe it will actually be goo- yeah I can't finish that sentence.

Shakugan no Shana III

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/t7ACP.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/Fhu7v8XQLwU

Anime Saving Potential: 0%

It’s more Shana, the third and final season of this mediocre saga. Expect tsun-tsun, and a JC Staff’d ending that will make the fanboys cry.

Forget Penguin Drum, now Hitokage's dreams have really come true.
Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/fbwQe.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/c9bTjuU-IfE

Anime Saving Potential: 8%

Big boobs, Sunrise, director of Dragonaut, no noses.

Horizon has the dubious honor of being that one show (assuming Guilty Crown doesn’t blow up two, three episodes in and takes up the mantle) where people will watch expecting nothing but mediocrity, where mediocrity is in fact the main draw.

If it's only mediocre that will be a huge disappointment.

Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing

[IM]http://i.imgur.com/nSxTD.jpg[/IMG]
http://youtu.be/YiOYVepzy4M

Anime Saving Potential: 25%

It’s more Last Exile, from that bastion of quality, Gonzo. The deck is kinda stacked against this jaunt into the Last Exile universe - it’s fucking Gonzo, it’s another outing in a setting that probably didn’t need it, and all the art makes it look like a moe-moe (pronounced moh-ay) cash-in on the franchise, just Gonzo flipping through their backlog for a hit. One of the positives is that the director and a few others from the original show is back for another stab at the series, hinting perhaps at motives beyond just simple profit, but the composition is being done by the genius writer of bombshells like A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives, Legend of Legendary Heroes, Linebarrels of Iron, and a few select episodes of Sacred Seven. What a record.

Long live Gonzo.

They look more bland than anything horrid or close to that honestly.
I honestly think "bland" is the greatest insult you can toss out for Gundam Age. Even when the Tomino Gundam's were dumb and silly with terrible direction at least they were memorable and crazy and people got slapped in the face good. I can't see that being true for this new show.

Mardock Scramble is really, really trashy shit. But in a fairly amusing way.

It's not bland!

It's not like the director is the only staff member on P4A with a awful "questionable" track record anyways.

We all know you hate digital. Deal with it. They're not going to go back to cels. Ever.
3/5 of my favoritest animu of all time are digital and one of them is mostly cel based but uses a lot of digital elements. I don't hate digital animation; I hate shitty unskilled utilization of digital animation.

Oh crap, I forgot all about that show. There's something I'm looking forward to, in a genuine, non-bitter and cynical or sarcastic, fashion. Let it be good!

Hey, Seto no Hanayome was loads of fun!

Not that I'd want Persona 4 to go in that direction.

Meh. Didn't really like it. Granted, I'm more into the Seinen and Josei.

Guilty Crown seems like the next Code Geass, which was kind of the last anime I watched as it was on. So I'll check this out and hope I can get some laughter out of it.

Persona 4, I hope you are actually good.

To be perfectly honest I'm afraid to even really try to actually order my backlog at this point.
So despite it being given such a high and resounding recommendation from multiple types of anime fans you're just going to refuse to bump it up the list and ignore it for a few more years?

Well, I guess trolling current anime is time consuming work.

This weeks episode felt a little too compressed for my liking. The actual events that took place were interesting, but I don't think the direction was really up to scratch. Apart from the opening scene, there wasn't much 'flow' to the pacing.

Still good though. Obviously.

I expect you to personally go and call out all those fools who don't know how to write a single anime title. It will make them better people.

(Still a better title than Bravely Default Flying Fairy).
