I certainly hope not so many fell for it. The reason Romney won was because he lied his goddamned ass off like I've really never seen before. The reason people should be disappointed in Obama is because he didn't call those out hard enough.

Obama got thoroughly pummeled in that debate. I felt sorry for him at the time because, damn, that was a thrashing. But now I can't wait to see it again.
If pummeled you mean romney lied, lied some more and lied again ok. Winning a debate in today's world is all about style not substance of which romney is only able to go up.
I foresee obama adjusting very well to the second debate. He now knows romney has no character, no scruples and is willing to lie about his lies.

Focusing on the facts is not the main priority of the mainstream media. I realize how cliche that sounds, but the last 48 hours couldn't be a more perfect example of this... and it sucks.
It's really easy to do some quick research on the dozens of misleading claims, lies, and flip-flops Romney managed to cram into the debate. The facts have been out there all over the internet, from plenty of neutral and non-partisan sources.
His own campaign had to fact check him afterwards! His plan doesn't cover people with pre-existing conditions. Romney's charge of 50% of Obama's green investments failing? Yeah, Lie lie lie lie. More like 1.4%. Romney's charge that the IPAB board can tell people what treatments they can get? False. Romney is now denying his $5 trillion tax cut? Yeah, you should guess... lie... or flip flop. I'm not even sure what the fuck to call this or to call his "tax plan" now

There's so excuse. He performed poorly, with a lack of confidence and attack. But I think he may have been bemused by Romney's barrage of flip flopping, exaggerations and lies. Even then, he should of called him out on them and played more dirty. 47%, tax rates et all.

I'm guessing you haven't been following the fact checking going on all around the Internet? Obama was guilty of certain exaggerations, but very few. Mitt on the other hand, a barrage of lies and exaggerations that dwarfed Obama's several fold. You must be living under a rock if you think the opposite.
It's more funny than anything, watching fox news and conservatives freak out is always entertaining.

Man you guys are riled up about Romney's alleged lies. You know who has confirmed lied? Obama. Remember when he said unemployment would be 5.6 if they jammed through the "stimulus"? Remember when the American people would get to read bills online before they are passed? I don't recall being able to read the health care bill before hand. Heck even lawmakers didn't get to read it. Remember when the deficit would be cut in half? Yeah good stuff. Remember when Gitmo would be closed?

Whilst I agree progress has been slow and below his earlier promises (as is the case for every president, bar Clinton in recent years), fact of the matter is congress and the Republicans have been one of the major causes for that. They are literally hindering or standing in the way of so much that could bring progress and growth. I think with Obamacare, whilst perhaps unorthodox in its creation, Obama did what he had to do, because the Republicans sure as hell wouldn't allow it, especially if it is more socially geared. Anything socially geared and less corporate or private they seem to pounce on.
Obama also never claimed he could sort everything in one term and did say he'd need the full two terms, even then it would take time. Add to that, this is the worst recession since the great depression and there's not much anyone could have done about it. It was a double dip one, especially with the latter European crisis which sent things spiralling back in to abyss.

I'm curious on the examples you can provide where he has done what 'everyone else' has done, and the instances in which he did worse. I would also like to know what you would consider the ideal solution in 2008 to the problems we can see now that was the fallout of the housing bubble and economy tanking, since you seem to be quite an expert on how the Bush administration's backed up sewage really can't last that long.
I would also like to know if you consider Romney's proposed solutions better than the solutions Obama proposes, and why.
Also, the health care bill was everywhere online during the time it was discussed. If you honestly cared about its content you would have looked it up yourself. Rather than character assassination, it would be better if you could provide something a little more solid than "the same stuff everyone else has done".

That's not the same as claiming he would sort everything out in four years. He merely said if the economy didn't turn around in 3 years he wouldn't be re-elected. Turning around doesn't mean completely recovered; it merely means on a trajectory that seems like recovery. Since he basically now is confirmed to have halted the Great Recession it its track and unemployment just hit 7.8%, I'd say he passed the bar... albeit, barely.
I hope you're ready for the trashing Romney will get on election night. It's going to be wonderful.

To most people, "turning around" probably means more than 7.8%, but I'm just assuming. There's still a lot of people out of work. I think your definition is a bit generous, and I'm not sure if a lot of other people would be as generous too.
I think it's nearer to an objective standard if we asked: did he at least get unemployment down to levels lower than they were when he got in there, effectively officially changing course on the great recession?
Of course people can disagree with every standard we try to find, but I certainly don't know who would have expected the worst economic downturn since the Depression to be totally fixed in four years... I didn't expect that, certainly.

In that case, 7.8% would be the goal, since that was (iirc) the rate in January 2009. However, that doesn't really paint the whole picture. While at least getting back to 7.8% is promising...
1. A lot of those new jobs are McJobs
2. More people have dropped out of the workforce completely, so they push the unemployment percent down since they aren't counted anymore.
He won't get shit on for the economy, but will get shit on for his policies (by Republicans). 2006 and 2007 had under 5% unemployment and Bush still got a reaming for his policies (by Democrats).
