PD, did you see Michelle on CNN? The way she spoke of her wedding day almost made it sound as if their entire marriage is just one of convenience.

Any UK GAF staying up/up watching it?

I was following the republican ones and I'm quite interested in seeing this first one play out.

So I saw Obama showing up to the debate in a stretch Escalade. Fitting for the President of Welfare Queens. Am I right?

Does ABC News have a notable political lean? It seems like every single person they've talked to in this pre-debate livestream has been reiterating Republican talking points verbatim.

As I said earlier, it's the health care segment of this debate I'm going to be most excited for. How can Mitt Romney possibly defend his position after so many months of saying he'll repeal the very thing he thought was good for Massachusetts? It's going to be fascinating to see how Obama pushes the issue.

Easy (which is why he won't do it).

"Our job as governors, whether of a state or as President of the country itself, is not to push as much of our own personal ideology upon our constituents as possible. We are to take everyone's interests into consideration and work together with our Congress to find the best possible solution, the best possible compromise, that best fits the specific situation at hand.

"Massachusetts is a very left-leaning state, and as a moderate, Republican governor I was working with a Congress that was 85% Democrat. The bill we passed there was a good solution for Massachussets at the time, but that doesn't mean it's the right approach for any other state, let alone the nation itself.

"While Massachusetts is a center-left state, our country is center-right. But more importantly than that, the American people made their displeasure for Obamacare known, quite clearly, even as it was being forced upon them at the last moment -- even to this day. What is desired by a left-leaning state does not fit the interests and needs of the rest of us.

"It's not a good solution for the country; the people didn't want it then and they don't want it now. It's not what I would have done had I been President, and if Mr. Obama is so confident in my ability to govern and form legislation, rather than taking a bill I would not have even endorsed on a national level and forcing it upon us all, I invite him to step aside and allow someone who knows how to manage, who knows how to work with people, who knows how to govern, step in, fix our health care system and, more importantly, our economy."

If it has George Will, this is where I'll be.

Edit: Unless I'm out getting pizza.

lawls that you think Republicans allow anyone to "compromise" their position. Especially given that the tea party is incharge now

I wonder what the chances are that I'll learn more about Romney' policy prescriptions or get more details on his tax policy during this debate.

I don't care what zingers he has in store, or how effectively he manages to pull them off, if his campaign is going to continue their 'Just trust us, we'll let you know after the election' plan, he'll just end up digging himself a deeper hole.

Is the debate long enough for those to be explained? Let's ask Paul Ryan.

He's going to have to provide specifics at the debate tonight, the media will roast him if he doesn't.

But Romney said Romneycare is the blueprint he will use for national healthcare.

Instead of a stream, I saw some "preview" for the debates.

What I found funny and sad is that Mitt was asked (in a previous interview i suppose) "what have you done to stand up for the Gay community recently" or so and he responded "right now" (he said he wasnt anti gay a few minutes ago)

Like really? Wow, this guy.

Deliberate misquote? I saw the same thing, dude.

"When was the last time you stood up and spoke out for increasing gay rights?"

"Right now."

From the looks of these posts, I'm probably going to be the only objective person here watching the debate. I'll try to weigh in from time to time to let you know how an independent is looking at this thing.
