Whatever the sharpening is on that, looks nice _b

No sharpening, was messing about with ridiculous amount of supersampling, they're downsampled from 6400x3600 I believe, took them for comparison purposes. 20 fps, unplayable.

I believe the corresponding values are supposed to be -0.5 for ever 2xsgssaa, i.e :

2x : -0.5
4x : -1.0
8x : -2.0

Ahh, i will try that with ProtoType 2 and see if i can get it looking right.

Sniper Elite - Some of the texture work is just abysmal

Is the game supposed to look that blurred out.....i literally wiped my eyes when i saw these screens cuz i thought there was something wrong with them.
Maybe ive been settling for poor quality too long, but those shots would be unplayable to me it feels like the DOF setting is broken or im supposed to be focusing on something else that my eyes just cant find in the images.
I stack FXAA on top of it. My vision IRL is pretty bloody terrible so I'm used to slight blurring, and I cannot stand temporal aliasing (a.k.a. "shimmering"), so I'm more than willing to make the trade-off. Of course, it won't work as well for some folks, but I'm okay with that. ;)

Edit: Now for a complete change of pace!

The complete omission of atmospheric fog makes the game look very strange, no matter what I do to the quality settings. Such a shame :(

The Call of Duty games are visually under-rated. They are no Crysis, but they accomplish so much for what they set out to achieve (60fps on consoles, scalability etc). Now a lot of that is down to good art direction, but they are at least adding in more modern graphical features like SSAO, facial animation and texture improvements, and DX11 effects. They look really nice with some supersampling applied to them as well.

I'd actually go so far as to say that the COD engine is what I hoped Source would be like by now.

Shame they look like horrible shit on consoles. No disrespect to those that play console regularly, but since I've built this new rig, I've touched my Xbox 360 like 2-3 times, and hated it each time.

Man, this thing is spoiling the hell out of me.

Ah, Ornstein and Smough (I think that's what they are called). I remember placing my sign before that boss fight and helping a lot of guys back when it came out on consoles. Almost all of them wrote me a personal message on XBL, thanking me for finally beating it.

I actually laughed at this one.

There are two of the same blonde women standing one in front of the other right in the middle of the scene.

And then there are two of the same brunette women standing one in front of the other to the right.

Wait til I go back and replay MW2 and get to the airport.

4xSGSSAA helps, too.

Sorry for one last NFS related post (honest) - i'm now using a weird AA setup that works surprisingly well.

I'm just downsampling from 1440p and then adding 1x2 supersampling on top of that:

Pros: no blur, further reduced shimmering from just downsampling alone, no need for extra MSAA or transparency AA, still locked 60fps on a 570 (which I overclocked a bit too).

Ahahahaha, wow. Sadly, I don't even think my cards (5850+5970) will output anywhere near that size. Best I can get is 2160x1440.

Such a good looking game though.

how the hell did you, DAT RES... what monitor/hz and gpu are you running? and how did you set it up for that res using the nvidia control panel or AMD trick?

This continent is so amazingly beautiful. The next one is supposed to be a forest/jungle type, so that will be interesting and after that, they plan to do a Lava/volcanic one.

The Fog Shadows in this game blow my mind, but on Esamir, the atmosphere causes midday to be VERY foggy. I LOVE IT. at midday, flying is very dangerous. At some angles you stick out like a sore thumb, and at others, you are practically invisible. I came upon this building almost by surpriise, I was just folloing a huge zerg with my squad and then BOOM! Biodome!

Mix that with the new 2000 player limit per server and you have yourself the most amazing sandbox.

I just wish I had money for another 670 so I could stay above 30 fps. Oh well, some day.

Well, I use the nvidia downsampling method when playing most games and the res I use there is 3200x1800@60hz downsampled to my monitor's native res of 1080p, which seems to be as high as my dell monitor and/or 670 is willing to cooperate. Then in the case of Sleeping dogs you have built in 2xSSAA in the extreme setting of the AA-setting, resulting in a final render of 6400x3600.

Sadly even if I had my sli 670 build I wouldn't be able to do the all of the above because of the game's annoying stuttering when you're playing fullscreen :(

edit :

Planetside looks gorgeous, is it a demanding game?
