You have to resize it yourself, or using your image hoster resize feature.

so I was able to get the custom resolution in at 2500x1440 and when I pressed the apply button my screen started acting up and then went black. I had to use my restore point to get it back. Am I supposed to download certain drivers or something? I have a 27" 1080p Samsung monitor S27A750D

I really would like to try out this downsampling stuff

Had the same problem, my screen would flicker red. I have the exact same monitor. :\

Hey guys I got a question. It's not really screenshot related but since this is the thread about all the advanced graphical things...

So I was wondering something today. You know how when playing old games on modern pc, one of the most common issue is that the game doesn't support Widescreen.

Of course you can stetch it but it always look terrible.

Why can't we force sidebars on a 4:3 resolution like you can do on TV?

I guess it's more of a monitor thing (and I'm sure that some models actually allows that) but it must be possible to that on the driver level no? Or maybe some kind of interceptor?

I would play my old games in 4:3 with sidebars over stretch any day.

Awesome shots, is this game as fun as it looks?
PSO2? Sure is! It's got the best combat out of any multiplayer RPG I've ever played (not single-player, tho - Dragon's Dogma holds that crown), some sweet character customization, and some pretty out-there monster design.

It's pretty easy, though, especially in full or even partially full multiparties (12-player rooms). And, yeah, the environment graphics aren't really up to par, aside from the ruins (the newest area) and maybe the floating continent. It's a great game for just sitting down to relax and beat up some monsters.

If you're using an Nvidia card, you can set this up in the Nvidia control panel (Display -> Adjust desktop size and position -> Scaling -> Aspect Ratio + Perform scaling on GPU).
If you're ATI, on the other hand... can't help ya there. :/

Now have some more PSO2:

Once you've set the scaling settings right it should be all good like this:

Then you can create a custom resolution in the control panel that suits your desktop resolution (I use 1440x1080 on a 16:9 monitor) so games don't have to scale to fit your screen.

Awesome! It works really well.

Thanks

anyone got any ideas for us AMD users? Should I try a lower resolution perhaps?

thanks in advance

I've realized that there's no actual way that Planetside's blur is as good as I thought it must have been.... ... ...
It's a trick.
They must manually put it in after you play.
My 50+ fps feels like 90.
Why don't other engines use this type of blur?
Also why aren't they flaunting it around more?!
Sony has every right to.

Set up a 4:3 resolution to play the game in instead of a 16:9. When I play Max Payne, for example, I play in 1440x1080. It's still 1080p, and you get the black bars.

Wow. I'll be honest. I HATED the Wii. Which is sad, because I really wanted to play the Marios, Zelda, and ESPECIALLY Metroid. It's just that I have a 55 inch TV and the Wii made it look really blurry.

But the Mario Galaxy shots are sexy as HELL. Do I need to go through a ton of shit to get it working? Or can I just go buy the disc, put it in, do some custom controller settings and enjoy it??

You need to own a Wii to rip the game.

Beautiful. Damn Nintendo, you achieved this with 6 year old, under-powered hardware that didn't make too much of an improvement on the Gamecube in terms of power? Roll on Wii U.

A certain few DVD drives will also work.

Art style is incredibly important and simple, bright, clean lines tend to look great even on older hardware. See: Okami HD

Yes. The motion blur method used in PS2 is absolutely phenomenal.

I'm sure you're pulling my leg here but no nintendo didn't achieve that on the wii. That's a screen from dolphin, played on a pc with probably orders of magnitude better hardware than what's in the wii.

Gawd, yes! It's beautiful. Every game should have proper object motion blur. It really does make games feel a lot smoother. Even 30 FPS is acceptable in a game with good motion blur!

If I were to venture a guess, two orders of magnitude better at the very least.

The screen resolution alone is probably 16x the load of what's on the Wii.

Shame the Wii doesn't actually display at those resolutions.

I've always said, would love to see the gameplay of games like SMG and Zelda but with higher resolution graphics, graphics arn't everything but nothing wrong with having both.

So will the Wii U be able to make the game look like that?

No. Wii games run in "Wii mode" which means you're stuck with awful 480p. You can't even use Wii U-specific controllers in Wii mode.

What fucking sense does THAT make?! LOL

Getting Wii games to run in higher resolutions and with additional controllers would require a lot of extra time on Nintendo's part. Not to mention all of that extra QA.

And this way, Nintendo and third parties can get in on HD remakes for Wii games. Alternate revenue streams!

Cheers, I thought the picture looked slightly blurry and sometimes depending on how you downsample the IQ actually becomes worse ( which it really really shouldn't ). I resized the original picture to 1600x900 using mspaint in w7.

Open both up and switch between them and you'll notice that the paint version is sharper/less blurry :)
